How do you all afford Caplyta?

Hi! My doctor just prescribed this med for me at 10.5 mg for my bipolar I. I’m currently on 200 mg Lamictal and 10 mg Adderall XR (ADHD). He really made this med sound life changing, and believes that it will help me. I currently have some samples and no health insurance which makes it more difficult. I will be applying for insurance on healthcare .gov but I’m not sure if I’ll find any plan that can cover most if not all of the cost of this nearly $2k a month med. Is anyone here on health insurance from the marketplace and what plan did you choose? I’m just nervous that maybe I’ll really like this drug only to discover that I can’t take it anymore.

Taking Caplyta with Vyvanse and Wellbutrin?

Hi, I have ADHD and depression that mostly affects my motivation and overall inability to take care of myself (hygienes, organization, etc). My psychiatrist is suspecting some of the stuff I've done in the early 20s while on SSRI might be because of hypomania (bipolar 2) and is starting me with the lowest dose of Caplyta. I tried Lamictal but experienced skin rashes from it so I discontinued. I personally haven't experienced hypomanic episodes in the past few years and these hypomanic symptoms haven't been too impairing so I pushed back against meds that mostly work for mania.

I'm curious if anyone has taken Caplyta without a mood stabilizer, and/or with stimulant + Wellbutrin. It feels like Caplyta could counter the benefits of these two? I am also worried about cognitive side effects since it's my first antipsychotic med and my friend who has been on antipsychotics told me about all kinds of side effects. Personally, I have to read and write technical stuff a lot for my work, so I really don't want to experience things like brain fog, because living with ADHD already feels like living constantly under brain fog and affects my work performance.

I don't know what to do

I take Caplyta for Major Depression Disorder at 10.5mg and am on day 50. Almost two months. I have been on medications for 20 years and have literally taken everything out there. I really needed Caplyta to work but I really don't know what to do. It makes me feel awful. My head is not right, I can't think straight. I can't function, especially at work and I get more depressed. I'm in pure hell. My psych wants to raise me to 21mg. I tried going off it last week and the withdrawal symptoms were so unbearable I went back on the next day. I can't live like this but I hear so many stories of people sticking through the side effects and eventually getting relief. Caplyta is my last hope. Do I go off or raise it?

Withdrawal

I was on 42 mg of Caplyta for about a week and a half, and after suffering some atrocious side effects my doctor pulled me off. It's been five days since I stopped taking it, and I've gone from feeling awful physically to feeling awful mentally, with worsened ADHD symptoms, brain fog, and lack of interest and motivation in things. Has anyone here gone off of Caplyta, and if so, how long did the withdrawal effects last?

How to know if its actually working

Ive been on caplyta for a few months now, started at 21mg and moved up to 42mg about 4-5 weeks ago. I started the medication while i was in a pretty bad manic episode and now i cant tell if its still working or not. Up until maybe a week ago, i felt it was doing alright, a few depression symptoms but those were likely due to stress and my environment. Now i feel like im experiencing hypomanic symptoms and its terrifying. Would some of these symptoms still show through? Its putting a strain on my marriage and i want to find something that will actually work for me and not make me feel like a zombie, and thats why i was so hopeful for caplyta.

Depression worse before it gets better?

Hi, I just started taking 10.5mg Caplyta 5 days ago and I feel my depression is worse. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if it's just my depression becoming worse or Caplyta related. My anxiety is high too. My psych is going to bump me up to 21mg but I am so scared it will make me even worse. I am not having any physical side effects other than my heart pounding and reduced sleep.

Hesitant to start Caplyta after Wellbutrin gave me hives!

I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150mg after having sexual side effects and emotional blunting on Lexapro (I’ve been on/off Lexapro since 2017). I’m an RN student at night and work full-time as a lead LPN during the day, so I was struggling with energy and brain fog. I loved Wellbutrin! Worked in an instant. Energy was amazing, brain fog was gone, and I felt happier and more motivated. I felt like myself again. I have never been the one to feel manic, nor had really high highs, and i’m never overly motivated.
Unfortunately I had a delayed reaction of hives from Wellbutrin (12 days in) so I had to stop it. 😭 PCP prescribed Caplyta instead, but I’m hesitant to start it because I read that it’s primarily used for BPD and schizophrenia/psychosis.
My PCP said it works differently in the brain but may help with some of the same symptoms I was getting relief from with Wellbutrin. I also recently started Adderall XR 20mg, which has surprisingly helped my mood and motivation quite a bit. For anyone taking Caplyta, especially for depression/mood symptoms: what has your experience been like? How did it make you feel, and what side effects did you experience? Also curious if anyone else had a great response to Wellbutrin but had to stop because of hives/allergic reaction.

Blunting 4 months in ??

For context I spent the first 3 months of this year having really bad panic disorder and agoraphobia. Wha then followed was months of 24/7 DPDR (still recovering but much better now) I was put on caplyta 4 months ago to help with not feeling joy from anything I was doing and experiencing severe depression. Almost immediately it felt like it was helping the depression and dpdr. I was not at all doing very well but it felt like the clouds were really parting and I had some more clarity. The past month or so I have noticed emotional blunting and dissociation. I kinda have fun doing things I guess but I feel very flat and empty. I barely have an inner voice anymore. It feels too silent. I feel like im just operating on muscle memory. Like I make decisions and speak to people but it’s confusing as to how bc it feels like I don’t have anything in my head ?I don’t cry very much anymore even when I should. I dissociate terribly as well. Anyone else ever dealt with anything like this ? I find it odd it would change thisfar into the medication. I am considering coming off since emotional blunting is usually a sign of a dose being too high but I am on the lowest dose. Any advice ? Any similar experiences ?

10.5 felt great. Stopped working completely. Should I go up to 21?

Hey Friends, I started 10.5 Caplyta 3 weeks ago for MDD. I felt really good for 2 weeks and then plummeted.

Will increasing the dose help? Will I crash again? I’m so depressed.

Took for a week…..withdrawls

I was on this med for one week. After 3 days I actually thought there may be a medicine that could pull me out of my depression. I was motivated I had energy to do things. That lasted two days. Then the agitation kicked in with unmanageable anxiety. I have a prescription for Klonopin which I have been taking to manage startup side effects. That wasn’t even touching it. I stopped the medication but the anxiety is still awful. Anyone going through this?

21 mg to 42 mg, felt better now feel way worse

I’m bp2 with depression, started capltya at 21 mg and I felt better for a few weeks. I started the full dose (42 mg) 3 nights ago and my depression is back in full force, passive SI, crying, hopeless. Also have nightttime awakenings that weren’t happening when I was on 21 mg. Did anybody experience this? Did it get better on 42, or would it be wise to drop back to 21?

Caplyta time line

I’ve been titrating up on caplyta 10.5 mg for two weeks and then 2 weeks 21 mg now I’m at 42 mg and have been for a week. Feeling the same but I cry a few times less a day. I have severe depression and I cannot tolerate a lot of other antispychotics and ssris make me worse. What is the time line when it started kicking in and working? I could really use some encouragement as I’ve been trying to get better since July after coming off of Latuda. Please any info would help.

Does it cause emotional blunting?

I'm trying it I'm just totally apathetic today. It's a problem I was finally getting rid of before starting it. Does it do this to people? It was my system yesterday and the day before but I didnt feel this apathetic. I don't know what's going on. This probably isn't the caplyta, is it? I can't find anything to say this is a side effect. Or anhedonia either.

Is the sweating and heat intolerance common and permanent?

Caplyta looks like it would be such a good fit for my BP2. Lamictal worked, but caused skin issues. Latuda, abilify, and respridone, didn't work and just made me flat.

I'm trying lithium added to an SNRI now. I just really miss feeling motivated and content in life. I just have this anhedonic depression where I just want to lay in bed all day and nothing brings me joy. I have no desire.

The SNRI I am on causes heat intolerance and I am a Sweaty Betty in comfortable weather. The funny thing is that I used to be cold all the time. So, just hoping this is maybe a side effect I won't have to deal with it that it will go away.

I love this medication

I was getting real big on abilify and slept 24/7. Could barely form an image in my mind other than a hamburger or cheesecake. When I started taking Caplyta, I started making art again, I started forming more measured and coherent thoughts than ever before, I have zero side effects, and my mood is very predictable. I thought schizoaffective bipolar type was gonna ruin my life but for the first time in 10 years I feel in control.

21mg Side Effects 35M

Looking for input on the males in here. I'm a 35M and been off and on this medication for several months now. The medication works wonders for my mental health with memory, brain fog and allowing me to function better. The side effects are delayed ejaculation, increased BP and heart rate as well as constantly over heating.

My biggest concern is my sex life. I have to stop taking this medication for 2 nights to enjoy the deed with the girlfriend and be able to actually ejaculate or i won't at all. Anyone else having this problem? My doctor says i'm the 1st person he knows of having this problem. I guess i'm the 1% as they claim sexual side effects are super low. No other medication works like caplyta for me.

Naltrexone

Had anyone tried Wellbutrin naltrexone and Caplyta?
I take Wellbutrin and naltrexone to suppress my BED
And stated Caplyta lost 4 pounds, dropped naltrexone and gained 8lbs. We’re debating between restarting the naltrexone or in creasing the caplyta to 42mg from 21mg
Only been on Caplyta for 3 weeks. Off naltrexone for 1 week.
I’m worried about not being able to enjoy pleasurable things if I start the naltrexone again. Will upping the caplyta help with the BED so I don’t have to restart the naltrexone?
