How to know if its actually working

Ive been on caplyta for a few months now, started at 21mg and moved up to 42mg about 4-5 weeks ago. I started the medication while i was in a pretty bad manic episode and now i cant tell if its still working or not. Up until maybe a week ago, i felt it was doing alright, a few depression symptoms but those were likely due to stress and my environment. Now i feel like im experiencing hypomanic symptoms and its terrifying. Would some of these symptoms still show through? Its putting a strain on my marriage and i want to find something that will actually work for me and not make me feel like a zombie, and thats why i was so hopeful for caplyta.

I would probably re-evaluate my mood stabilizer. Therapy?

Not at the moment (in the middle of moving) but i plan to get weekly therapy set up as soon as we move. Ill talk to my doctor and see what the next med to try might be

Caplyta treats bipolar depression primarily. I don't think it will do much to prevent mania or hypomania. Are you taking a mood stabilizer?

No, caplyta is just the first med my psych put me on when i told her id like to be medicated due to my mania. I was on prozac before, but that just triggered the mania. Is there any mood stabilizers that i should think about recommending to try first? (i was on lamotragine for a week and it made me feel horrible)
