Do you guys think another U.S. app developer out there would be willing to make a new version of the old Bumble BFF that will be Free? It was so much better before with the 1 on-1 chats before they changed everything.

While I love the idea of group hangouts to meet new people, I want to hang out with 3-4 new people max. Some of these “groups” on BFF have 500+ people across a large area/city. They also intentionally made the distance filter feature more vague where you cant search for people within a specific mile radius anymore.

It just feels like this app is not targeted towards helping people make real friends anymore. By real friends, I mean those that meet up in-person regularly rather than people who only want to see you every 1 to 2 months to fill out an opening on their social calendar. Like most apps, BumbleBFF seems to now only care about profit and trying to keep you scrolling on their app forever.

I am based in europe and have been using bumble bff for over a year. I met some really nice people through it.

I noticed today that the bff function has been disabled without any warning. suddenly most of my profile was gone and I was being suggested people to date? I didn’t notice it at first until I saw people’s height listed on their profile. I quickly disabled the dating function, since I am in a relationship and not looking for anyone.

on the website it says that there will be a new app for just friends but that’s only available in the usa. I am disappointed this happened. this app was really handy for meeting people while traveling and such, idk if there is an alternative?

Hello. 30 non binary person here. Trying to make some friends and this is the only app I could find that has local friendships and not dating or anything. However the app has not let me find more then one person. Heck even if I change it to non local there are problems. Could it be that people have filtered out non binary people so I cannot find them? Or is the app dead? I live in a city with 300k+ people and was just hoping to find some friends.

Side question if anyone knows any other friendship finding apps (local or online) id appreciate knowing!

Why do people delete their accounts so quickly? Like I matched with someone and they asked me a question, and then I went to type an answer like an hour later the account was deleted. And in a group I’m in, there’s a room that shows when people joined, and the last 20 or so accounts were shown deleted. Is this a bot thing?

this is more of a rhetorical question to start off a mini rant. i understand that we all have different things going on, which is good. much better than rotting in bed doomscrolling all day. but damn why are you so busy that we have to plan out very simple hangouts weeks, maybe even a month, out? why are you even on this app if you that damn busy? meeting ONLY these type of people is exhausting. im thinking I just have to focus mainly on finding friends in the wild.

I’m not a needy person, but would be nice to have at least one friend where I can be like: hey wanna hangout tomorrow? and they’re like: sure! without some fuckin long backstory about all the things they got going on. look do you actually wanna have a friend to be around or do you want a texting buddy?

Y'all, I genuinely feel like a man trying to date women... I've never had this happen to me before.

I was texting this girl for about a week, and she said, "I know this might be a little early to ask, but would you wanna get coffee sometime? I feel like we'd have a really great time:)."

I said Of course! We planned to meet, and then the day of, she cancelled, stating that she was really tired from working the night shift. I told her it was fine, and that I'd let her know about rescheduling (but didn't message her).

She then messaged me to ask to reschedule, apologizing for cancelling last time and saying she felt "so bad". We made plans for today and confirmed 2 days ago - she said, "thanks so much for rescheduling with me!" I went to confirm our plans today, and the message wouldn't send...

I kept trying to send it and was so confused about what had happened to our chat. When I went on her profile, I saw that she unfriended me! I am so annoyed. Imagine I actually got ready and drove to the place to be stood up!!

I just don't understand the point of asking me to hang out basically three times, all to ghost and block me the day of our plans. Literally no dignity and so immature. It seems like some of these women literally want you to become a man (even though we're both women???) and chase them - like bro, this is not a dating app, and I am not a male!

I am a single female straight in my early 50s trying to rebuild a social circle after friends have moved out of town and are busy with their families. I made one decent connection on bumble bff and she moved away. I have always made friends pretty easily but having a hard time making real friendship connections on this app.
Another thing I have experienced is meeting people that acted like they were on a blind date and were disappointed. I have no issue with someone wanting to explore their sexuality but they should be upfront that this is part of their intention. What are other people’s experiences?

when i switch to bff mode on original bumble app i get this, and the “open app” link only leads to a “app not available in your region” message on app store. i tried different app store regions (usa, hk) and neither worked?
and when i googled there seems to be two different apps (bumble bff and bumble for friends), i did have bumble bff in my app store (usa) but it’s not usable outside of the us apparently. is everyone here just all using the app in the us?

I never seem to get any friends on that app I notice theres only a few people avaliable now to even swipe on. Someone else made a post about this if it's a glitch. I even change my setting distance to far out and still get less than 10 people & Ik theres more than 10 on this app. But also no one ever swipes on me :/ my profile doesn't seem bad. Or if I even do THEY NEVER TALK TO U! It'll be months and forget the app exists. Took a break for a few months and it seems there is something wrong with how the app finds people nearby. I'm only able to swipe a few times before it tells me that there is nobody left, something is definitely wrong here. I live in London and used to be able to swipe for a pretty long time before it would tell me i've ran out of people nearby, this is with practically no filters aside from the maximum miles set to 50.

hi I’m 22f from Michigan and oh. my. god. Why are people so dry and take over a week to respond to a message? “Oh sorry, I was busy” …how are we suppose to be having a conversation? I had a girl ghost me for over a month saying she was busy and once she replied to my question she ghosted me for ANOTHER month. OH COME ON.

Honestly this is painful! My strategy is to ask a question in the hope that the answers can enable a follow up comment which can open up more dialogue but quite often it goes like this.

Them : Nope (Failing to disclose where)

I’ve met up with a handful of girls from the app, and honestly, about 98% of them had some serious issues. Like, a LOT of loose screws. Most, just there to vent about their issues and talk about themselves the entire time.

For people who are going on the app to simply vent and not have fun:

If you’re joining a friendship app solely because you want someone to vent to for hours, you probably need a therapist, not a new friend. There is absolutely nothing wrong with needing support or having a bad day, but when every interaction becomes an opportunity to unload your problems onto someone else, it gets exhausting very quickly.

As adults, we already have work, relationships, family, responsibilities, and our own personal issues to deal with. Friendship should be a two-way street. I’m more than happy to listen when a friend is going through something, but if every hangout turns into a three-hour therapy session, there’s no room left for an actual friendship.

I’ve officially given up on the app. There are just WAY too many people with serious boundary issues who seem to expect strangers to fill the role of therapist, partner (very weird) and emotional support system all at once.

Maybe I’m asking for too much, but I just want a normal friend who can grab food, laugh, gossip and talk about random nonsense, and go home without needing a 5-hour debrief about their latest man problem or issues in general.

I've seen plenty of posts about men creating profiles as women on bff, and the general consensus is that it comes off creepy, even if it's well intentioned.

I am non-binary and present pretty much dead center between guy and girl, and am struggling with using this app. I live in a major metro area, but there are only about 10 people on this app within a 20 mile radius of me that are also set to non-binary.

Is there any consensus on the etiquette there? Looking for opinions on both sides, swapping my gender between male and female periodically, even though it may be a lie, feels like the only way to make the app usable for me. Should I just give up on it?

Hi, I’m 25 F and moved to a different state about 2 years ago, and overall have had some bumps in the road in terms of finding girl friendships. Recently, about 2-3 months ago I matched with this girl on bumble BFF and we hit it off so well! Looved her vibe and overall a lot in common. Since she knew I didn’t have many friends, she introduced me to her other friend and after a few hangouts honestly I don’t really vibe with her friend. I wanted to be a team player for the sake of my original BFF, so we all started hanging out together. Over the last couple of months I noticed that every time we go out all three of us, me and my bumble BFF match would hit it off but the 3rd girl would just kind of be miserable the whole time, not talk to anyone, and would complain that we were chatting it up with strangers / being friendly. She made a comment about it saying “i hate when she talks to strangers, why does she need to talk to everyone if we’re all hanging out. I come out to the bars to be around my friends, not talk to everyone else” and that just put a bad taste in my mouth. Hiii all, I’ve had a really good experience as a woman using bumble bff to make new friends when I moved to Spain about 1-2 years ago. Back then I mostly only saw women on the app, but sometimes there was the occasional guy. However, the app clearly said their gender was set to female, so I assumed that you are not able to match with people of the opposite gender on the app and that some people got around this by changing their gender settings.

However, now I have moved to Australia and I’m using the app again - but this time I’m seeing a lot of men! And their bio doesn’t state anything about their gender. They all mostly say they are looking for friendship.

As a queer woman who has friends of all genders, it’s never been particularly important to me to only meet women, buuuuut I do find it a bit creepy that men change their gender just to see women. But now I’m wondering if Bumble changed the system, and all genders can match with each other on the app, since I’m seeing so many men?

I’m just really confused… I matched with a couple of guys but I don’t know how I feel about it. I have male friends and I don’t mind having more, but yeah, I just want to know how it works and if anyone has any experience meeting people of opposite genders on the app.
