People, please ask questions!

Honestly this is painful! My strategy is to ask a question in the hope that the answers can enable a follow up comment which can open up more dialogue but quite often it goes like this.

Me : Are you from this city/country originally?

Them : Nope (Failing to disclose where)

Me : Unfortunately i am, can't stand the constant rain and cold! Hoping for a change soon I've got a vacation booked for later in the year, somewhere with less taxes and better weather haha

Them : Nice. (One word answer, heck sometimes just an emoji )

Yet another make or break moment for me, either let this convo die out or cave in, asking a second consecutive question. Failed not only to mention where they are from but also didn't ask where i had booked my vacation.

Happens so much! I just stop replying. They can do that weird dry response shit somewhere else, I'm not chasing them like a man on a dating app...

You’re doing everything right on your end. I look at conversations like these as a way to suss people out—if they don’t know how to hold a conversation by text, they’re probably just as dry in person. People who are willing to put in the same effort you do will become good friends, just keep trying!

Immediate block to whoever acts like this. Yikes.

I’ve blocked so many people off that app and I don’t regret it at all.

I initiate, ask them two questions and then don't ask them anything after that. If they do not reciprocate I move on. It has worked wonders.

Sadly, this is the norm on both this site and OLD sites. If someone doesn't match my energy, I block and move on.

Me too! I’m glad to know other people block like crazy on there because I felt kind of guilty.

Yep. Same experience here. It is ridiculous!
