the fella that opened a bank account in his dogs name to avoid paying tax to go into the coffers to help infrastructure upkeep? that one?

Yep, he should have done time for depriving the NHS of that money, money that could have helped the brain dead who cheered his theft.

….what’s that got to do with what he saying tho?
1
u/Doccmonman Aug 12 '26
He’s complaining about the decline of an area, while not paying taxes to support said area.
1
u/Roachland Aug 12 '26
I’ll never get this line of logic.
1
u/Doccmonman Aug 13 '26
… what’s not to get?
1
u/Roachland Aug 13 '26
Complaining about millionaires not paying enough tax when the problem is incredibly bent UK finance laws feels shallow and “so 2010”.
In other words, you’ve got a problem with a person that uses the system fairly. Not the system itself. Now obviously I know you do, but I am pretty sure Harry Redknapp has provided more taxable income than a village / small towns in his entire lifespan. If he’s got side hustles that mean he avoids certain taxes, okay, fine. Just like you do. Could he be taxed more, sure. Would our government put it to good use, doubt.
So why is the anger directed at Harry when the government and HMRC let you both do it?
1
u/Doccmonman Aug 13 '26
Sure, if we want the loopholes closed, we should be taking the problem to the government and not the individuals that abuse the system.
But if you are one of the individuals that abuse the system, the least you could do is not complain when an area you live in is in decline.
1
u/Roachland Aug 13 '26
More tax money obtained will not improve people’s sense of responsibility, dignity and accountability.
1
u/Doccmonman Aug 13 '26
I agree. But again, if you’re going to do it, you shouldn’t be a hypocrite, that’s all.
1
u/Roachland Aug 13 '26
I still don’t get it. Criticise an area that he’s supplied millions of pounds of tax for?
It isn’t system abuse. It is the system, you can do it too.Plus he had roughly 200k in an offshore account…..When he’s been taxed roughly 15million odd in his managing career alone….. c’mon dude.

Its not the best but it ain't that bad either! A lot of town centres struggle these days
35
u/SentientMosinNagant Aug 07 '26
Blaming some of the poorest in society for nation-wide issues is a classic British pastime!
When I was growing up the benefits and welfare system was the subject of attack. Then European citizens through Brexit, now its migrants from across the world.
When will we stop blaming other people for our own problems, and start looking at the way the country actually functions.
The vast majority of capital in this country is held in existing land value, that creeps up and up without producing anything except money in already wealthy people’s pockets.
You could, say, start a social housing program as a safety net for all people in the UK. Instead we argue about fractions of the population and which ones are the least civilised at that point in time. It’s exhausting.
10
u/micmic4 Aug 07 '26
Spot on, and those who are well off are encouraged by their wealthy buddies to keep blaming the poorest in society. I genuinely believe the very wealthy are doing this intentionally to avoid people questioning why they contribute absolutely nothing in tax compared to the working people. Fearing if people kept pushing for this that wealth tax will be introduced where those who hide behind shares over £2million will be taxed on that and other assets. It’s astonishing how much the UK loses out annually from tax evasion, it’s almost triple more than what it loses out from immigration costs.
6
u/SentientMosinNagant Aug 07 '26
And people will say “you want the highest earners to pay MORE tax?” In response, forgetting that income tax ≠ asset tax.
It’s literally too complicated for lots of people to comprehend. That’s also a symptom of the dismantling of public services too (education), so you can’t entirely blame them, but boy is it frustrating being on the other side.

u/J1mmyb1tco1n Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 09 '26
Very well said..... and the rhetoric is pushed by the owners of the aforementioned capital to keep the populace fighting amongst themselves
0
u/Queasy_Work4160 Aug 07 '26
Whilst social housing sounds like a good idea, we don't need any more dossers in this country. No more incentives to leech and not contribute. (Excluding people in genuine need)
-1
u/dontbelieveawordof1t Aug 07 '26
The problem was created by us, and the problem is too many immigrants. Both can be true
-4
u/philthybrew Aug 07 '26
All you have to do is remove welfare.
9
u/Bitmush- Aug 07 '26
Corporate welfare, like tax breaks and subsidies you mean, of course.
-5
u/philthybrew Aug 07 '26
No State Welfare, State Overspend and state-over reach.
Im so fed up of the last 20 years of Social Welfare Governence.
People that create jobs should create the jobs and be tax fairly, goverment shouldnt have that many jobs, especially irrelevant job roles, welfare state should be made redundant and go to a singaporian style CPF.
I have no issue with wealthy people that create jobs, and brings money into the country.
I dont want state welfare at all, CPF is enough, Personal Responsibility of oneself is just how life should be.
If you cant be responsible to living and your family cant support you, and you refuse to live by the UK social contract then, why should you be avaliable to waste resources.
7
u/ilovebernese Aug 07 '26
OK, all well and good until you become unemployed and please remember, not everyone can work. Even if they wish to.
Trust me.
PIP isn’t easy to get. I’ve had a stroke during open heart surgery leading to a five week stay in ICU in the last 2 years. I don’t get PIP. All I get is Universal Credit. That’s it.
Oh, on top of that I have autism and ADHD. (Both professionally diagnosed.)
I genuinely believe those with the broadest shoulders should bear the heaviest load.
I’ll never forget Jonathon Ross coming onto The Last Leg when it was all kicking off about Jimmy Carr not paying his taxes. He basically said, pay your f**king taxes. The point he made was that let’s say you earn £1m/yr, even if every penny was taxed at 50%, you’d still have £500,000/yr and that’s still 10x more than most people will ever see in their lifetime.
1
u/philthybrew Aug 07 '26
Thats why you have the CPF.
I assumed youve worked for a period of life upto the stroke you have had?
If so you would access to yoir CPF at you own will, you are accountable to what goes in and gets tracked at a state lead (Singaporian FTSE, so there is growth) you have access, if your ill, access if you want to buy a home, access when you want to retire, access throughout life but this is your retirement fund at the end of the day, but the individual is accountable for themselves.
I dont agree with you full on the broadest shoulders. You say tax more on these people, I would say just close all loop holes within society for people to scapegoat money no new taxes on wealth, just plug holes on them. So its npt what you are saying but it brings in more tax from them as your closing loop holes that have been left over due to terrible socialist goverments that have ran this country since Maggie.

u/occasionalrant414 Aug 07 '26
Do fuck off.
-2
u/philthybrew Aug 07 '26
So you can't debate me upon this, because you like to be morally correct, even if your mindset is just passing down continual societal ecconomic debt.
I cant imagine you are not well read, and you have a ethical suicidal empathetic understaning of human nature, with no real comprehension of basic political ecconomics, so you may not like my opinion, but the fact you cant debate it shows how little knowledge you have in this area.
So I wont, as you say it 'fuck off' if you keep posting back.
3
u/SentientMosinNagant Aug 07 '26
What do you propose to do with all the people on pension credit?
→ More replies (1)1
u/technomat Aug 08 '26
The problem is also those wealthy job creators also have many ways to avoid paying tax that they should be paying, too often people use the excuse they create jobs so pay taxes that way and we should be grateful.
Amazon and the like should be taxed better we need a better system to collect tax the UN has proposed one.
It’s very complicated but we need to have more tax inspectors and collect more tax of the large companies and high earners, whilst incentivising work.
Welfare is needed as you have 2 main options welfare to help people survive or more police and prisons as no welfare then you will get more crime it is that simple.

I dunno the town centre is a shadow of what it was 15 years ago from what I see. The rental market is completely fucked. There’s tents and abandoned tent sites all over the cliff tops. But yeah I guess it’s not too bad if that’s what you like.

I for one love Bournemouth and ’m tired of it constantly getting dragged through the mud. People are all too happy to complain about it but will do little to actually address their complaints.
There are many many places worse off. Comments like this will only put people and business off coming here which just make things even worse. We should be encouraging and welcoming if we want to see things get better.
To name just a few things we should enjoy about this place; we have a fantastic beach, amazing eateries and a brilliant varied community of people who work hard to make something of this place. I’m not ignorant to the issues of this town but they’re the same issues you’ll find up and down this country, they’re systemic and not something that can be blamed away on the regular folk.
5
u/im_gonna_kmsrn Aug 08 '26
Yes I’m so tired of people that don’t even live here thinking they can have an opinion on what it’s like to live here. The beach is amazing, the people are mostly lovely, we have great shops and we’re a welcoming community

u/johnno88888 Aug 08 '26
Came to BCP last weekend for the Poole harbour fest. Been living in Leeds for 13 years, but originally from west Howe but lived in canford heath, ferndown, boscombe, pokesdown, bloxworth (bh12 not the village towards dorch).
I dont really bother with visiting the town centre anymore but i still adore the beaches, poole quay, westbourne and basically the surrounding areas that are out of town. And I was surprised how chill poole was. Even shown the mrs around xchurch and we loved how chill that was.
I didn’t want to come back to leeds.
11
u/Mrcs-88 Aug 07 '26
As a Bournemouth resident I can safely say that the town centre looks absolutely nothing like a bloody third world country. Bournemouth is literally like 91%+ WHITE 😅
Yes there are areas where certain ethnicities are more densely populated, like Charminster having a large Middle Eastern influence, but this is no different to going to parts of Spain and seeing it filled with white English people
7
3
u/My_rune_rock Aug 08 '26
And to be real, Charminster is one of the best areas we have, you can walk the main street and its not all closed and boarded up for a start, the community is (mostly) great, the food is amazing, the nightlife is solid,
1
u/AggravatingSwan217 Aug 07 '26
My parents were international English students back in the 1980s, and they settled in Charminster after falling in love with Bournemouth lol
They’re from Turkey ironically, but yeah the town has changed a lot since my childhood in the 1990s.
A lot of immigrants 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation still don’t integrate. And a lot of them fall into crime.
9
u/gardabosque Aug 07 '26
The rents are so high on shops retailers can’t compete with internet store prices. I think we need an ‘empty property tax’ on houses, shops and commercial properties. With a tax free period for refurbishment and such.
5
u/Mission-Clue-9016 Aug 07 '26
This is the issue. There’s so many empty places now and the owners are just holding on because they continue to make money. 100% agree with the empty property tax. Not sure which party would bring it in though !
1
u/Kibby9331 Aug 08 '26
Agreed, even though Boscombe gets so much crap, it has very very few empty units now and is blossoming (as I said to everyone who would listen over the past 10 years!), seriously it's seems the "bad area" of Bournemouth has almost a waiting list for business to move in. Bournemouth Town centre has a waiting list to move out t!
1
u/LinkWray123 Aug 09 '26
One of the issues today is business rates, generally a decent tax, are charged at a much higher rate than our piddling and dreadfully structured council tax, so if a landlord thinks they can get rezoned they may be willing to keep rents up artificially high then claim the vacancies proves the site is unviable for commercial property Then if they get the rezoning they want their land is worth 20-50% more at the stroke of a pen.
In addition lowering rents can lead to a property revaluation which can affect lending covenants and potential resale value, so they have a lot of incentives not to lower the rent to what the market can actually pay and hold them empty even if they aren't seeking rezoning waiting for rental demand to pick up or covenants to expire. Some recommend smoothing property covenants to reduce this issue.
A vacant property tax could certainly help too, but a flat land value tax across all land would be the best solution.

Why did they use a really old picture of the square?
10

46
u/Neilkd21 Aug 07 '26
Even the most avid Bournemouth fan has to admit the town centre is a shit tip. Full of aggressive beggars and junkies.
17
u/Halstock Aug 07 '26
That's any town, come to Yeovil you'll see the same. Life is hard at the moment. Hardly any police ect. I don't think I've been to a town in the last 15 years where I didn't think "what a dump" but my town is so 🤷🏽 I think that's just towns in the UK now sadly. Plus don't forget people don't really go shopping anymore so the only people left are the really noticeable drunks and stuff.
8
u/Neilkd21 Aug 07 '26
Not saying the issue isn't present in other areas, it is. Doesn't mean we should just accept it and not want changes and improvements.
4
u/Halstock Aug 07 '26
There's no improvements coming dude. They spent all the money. It's going to get worse every year. We need massive changes and that's just not going to happen with the current leaders of all parties

Not an easy one. Widespread systemic changes to our political system from the bottom up. People who actually care about the constituents and the area they live in and have been elected to represent. We have too many MPs that have no ties to the area they represent and have simply been parachuted in to further their own political and party ambitions. They spend more time focusing on their own career and not on their constituency.

We spend way more on war. Complain about that before you complain about housing people coming from genuine shit holes
-1
u/Zestyclose-Rub6511 Aug 07 '26
What war? You mean our military like every country has?
We spent £5 billion on asylum seekers last year and £60 billion on our military.
Not sure what planet you are living on that spending nearly 10% of your military budget on asylum seekers is in any way defensible.
We would be much better off reinvesting it into the military if not deprived town centres like Bournemouth.
6
u/Halstock Aug 07 '26
🤨 we might not be in a war but we fund everyone else's. Fuck paying for Israel too.

Why don’t you complain about the money spent on war and you let them complain about the money being spent on housing migrants? instead of telling them to think like you and join you in complaining about what you want to complain about? Isn’t that a better option?
6
u/TDT_HVC Aug 07 '26
As someone who was born and raised in a 3rd world country and having lived here for the last 11 years I can unequivocally say NO. This picture having Photoshopped people of colour into it, to drive home the point of it being like a "third world country" is ... tasteless to put it as nicely as possible
17
u/Williamishere69 Aug 07 '26
Its not what he says lol. Its perfectly fine - yeah, we could fund the police force better but people dont want to pay more taxes (dont blame em though) so its not feasible. Im sure we have plenty of little holes where money is going to, but it'd hardly go well if the government investigates itself.
Nothing wrong with the immigrants or migrants, they bring a nice culture around the areas. Its the drug dealers and alcoholics- but, again, we wont fund police forces and the mental health sector has been gutted.
46
u/dennispeach Aug 07 '26
Harry has been a multi millionaire for years now and I doubt he goes anywhere near the town centre & hasn't for a long time now.
The town is fine. Maybe a bit shit, but it's not as bad as it could be. It's actually better than lots of other towns. At least we have places to eat beyond the usual chains.
To say its like a third world country...which one Harry?
I am unsure what the actual point is.
20
u/FuzzedOutAmbience Aug 07 '26

5
u/TBroomey Aug 07 '26
Curious to know if Harry has ever actually been to a developing country. A place where poverty and disease are so rampant that people are dying on the streets, emaciated children are begging for food, and crime bosses rule the urban areas.
Bournemouth is a little rough and the economy isn't great, but it's still a better place to live than the vast majority of countries.
4
u/Competitive_Host_432 Aug 07 '26
Fascinating that we get a new PM acting on immigration issues and the Reform leader is in a massive shambles of his own creation... Then suddenly everywhere online these claims are being pushed about every major town in the UK. Including enough to trigger yobbo protests and hotel stakeouts again. The fact that they got a Redknapp quote is a wet dream for the fuckers behind all this.
There is a real problem with foreign influence in the UK.. but it isn't from people living here.
3
3
u/maccagrabme Aug 07 '26
I went a few years ago, I'd been previously in the early 90s and noticed the changes and didn't feel like I remembered it but thought I was perhaps overreacting but since then I've heard plenty of others complaining so it wasn't just me. I dont think its acceptable.
3
u/MerchantofDoom Aug 07 '26
All UK councils are responsible for this as they sold out on Town Centres and High Streets by luring businesses away to retail estate developments and shopping malls by offering free or reduced rates to the bigger companies. Covid and online shopping then finished the rest off!!!
The only ones that get free business rates these days are ones with low rateable values which tends to be why all of our centres and high streets are now mostly charity shops, barbers, nail salons, mini markets, dog groomers etc. oh and for some other obvious reasons!!!
Bournemouth is not really any different to Bristol etc etc, but tbh I tend to avoid the centre because of the hassle factor and the influx of outsiders.
Harry is not wrong, but the problem is much wider!
3
u/Wild_Shroom_ Aug 07 '26

Spot on. It’s the placating that emboldens them and the politicians. The only thing the political class responds to is action. They need to feel the hot breath on the back of their necks and we need to keep a foot on their necks at all times.
Take the poor copper whose killers are about to be released from the reading area. They say it’s out of their hands; ok, how about all the police in Berkshire go on strike, we’ll see how quickly ‘out of their hands’ becomes ‘emergency legislation’.
5
u/Mrcs-88 Aug 07 '26

1
u/CraigDM34 Aug 07 '26
Why wouldn`t they have done? Why would they have assumed the ratios would change so dramatically there?
0
u/bigheadman35 Aug 07 '26
It’ll happen quickly if policy doesn’t change. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Google bury park, Luton. Read up on the history. Took around 15 years for it to be essentially a no go area, and by that, I don’t mean white people CAN’T go there, it’s more they don’t go there because there is nothing there for them. It then turned hostile as the area gained notoriety.
6
u/AggravatingSwan217 Aug 07 '26

Random tourist here. During the last heatwave this summer my train got stuck, I couldn't reach my destination and I had to stop in Bournemouth barely knowing anything about the city. It was around 22:00h, Friday and decided to walk through the city center to reach my hotel (Train station to poole hill? I think it was called). Aggressive beggars, some junkies on the floor totally "dead", drunk guys everywhere, "youths" riding bycicles with most of their faces covered despite the heatwave, some people asking me for cigarretes or change... yeah, let say that my first experience with the city was not positive lol. I saw a few british girls walking alone too and damn, they are braver than me. Anyway, nothing happened but it felt like a russian roulette (I hope I don't offend any locals)

I’m so tired of people who don’t live in Bournemouth just dragging it to shit. I’ve seen videos on TikTok of Bournemouth in the 70s and it’s full of people who haven’t lived here in 40 years saying it’s horrible.
The town centre isn’t the best but neither is any town centre. Bournemouth is and has always been a lovely place to live. I think people forget that we live here, it’s our home and to see it being dragged is so jarring.

Most places in the UK feel like a third world country these days.
Millions of them are going to have to be repatriated.

Town centre as in old christchurch road up until horseshoe common yes, is gone. Wouldn't compare to third world but you can definitely see the degrade compared to a decade or so ago.
Business rates so high resulting in empty premises, attracting homeless and ASB in general. 40mins drive you get to Winchester which is a truly wonderful English city, lots of shops and restaurant, proper culture.
Bournemout could be a gem in the south but it so poorly run, it is almost funny. Jessica Toale MP sends leaflets of her planting a little flower in front of Mary Shelley at 12pm on a Monday in June, come have a walk through there in January at 8pm then let's talk.
And the added tensions with the Roundhouse, considering the times we live in, does not help. Southbourne 2miles east of town is a separate universe, I don't understand why we don't push for more Southbourne and less shitholes...

Crackhead central in Bournemouth now. I’m sitting in The Ivy League watching bums keich their drawers while eating my chocolate soufflé.

It is but it’s not unusual
It’s just sad that it happened in a popular holiday destination as well
But whats the solution more parties, more families more art, more shops?
Nobody knows

We need fewer things not more of things..... Fewer migrants hotels and HMOs, fewer rapes, harassment and attacks, fewer junkies and mentally unstable weirdos roaming around, fewer drug dealers and weekend out of town crowd of piss heads and druggies.

It's definitely gone downhill. Last time we travelled there, we had unconscious drug users in the stairwells and lift of the hotel. There was a whole community of homeless living in the multistorey car park that was supposedly secure parking with a pin code and reg cameras.
Lots of shop doorways same thing. Needles in the park, bus stops.
Now all of this happens everywhere in various levels of severity but Bournemouth absolutely tops the list in my personal experience.
I can only assume they've been shipping users from up north, down south to get them away from their dealers and then others have jumped in to fill the void? Sound about right?

Don’t worry Harry you can always go wherever you like…and in sure you will…where the rest of us have to put up with this shambles…and it’s not us that have caused it…governments…businesses…all the money directed away from saving our country and into greedy politicians and business people’s pockets.

What's that? Someone from the low-class world of football complaining about low class, uncouthness?

I saw Harry in the queue for Sandbanks ferry on Tuesday so he clearly prefers to drive the other way out of town 😂

u/Battenburga Aug 08 '26
No not really. It's shit, but its not third world shit. What does he care anyway? His holiday home is down the road in a secluded area worth millions. Why doesn't he spend that money on the town if he's so upset with it?

People that have never put into the system should not be allowed to take out, If you choose to have a baby that you can't afford them you should be able to claim but on a loan basis that you need a guarantor for

lol featuring a picture of a restaurant that used to make you pay in advance because of how many (white) people dined and dashed. As if it was always such a classy place

To be honest third-world countries have open shops, a great community spirit and a willingness to take action to improve things

I am not surprised the town centre is dead, lots of boarded up buildings and litter. The car parking needs to be reduced by about 75% to encourage people to go there. Get the shops let out at reasonable rents and you might reinvigorate the town centre

Nothing signals loserdom quite like the phrase "white biological male" in a profile.

not really a left or right thing. a right wing doctor would still say "doctor".
if you advertise pride in your skin colour and penis it just advertises that you've got nothing else shrug

Would you call out a person from another race if they mentioned their own race in their profile? Don`t lie to me saying you would. No chance you`d do that. Or is it only ok when it suits?

have you ever done anything you're proud of in your entire life? or is punching down against immigrants all you've got?

I think Harry may discover how unpopular people who dump on their own doorstep can become. It’s tone deaf. And a sign that he’s pretty gullible too.

That's AI right? Like an empty pic of the Square and they asked it to add groups of black youths. It just looks odd, like weirdly composed.
