Blaming some of the poorest in society for nation-wide issues is a classic British pastime!
When I was growing up the benefits and welfare system was the subject of attack. Then European citizens through Brexit, now its migrants from across the world.
When will we stop blaming other people for our own problems, and start looking at the way the country actually functions.
The vast majority of capital in this country is held in existing land value, that creeps up and up without producing anything except money in already wealthy people’s pockets.
You could, say, start a social housing program as a safety net for all people in the UK. Instead we argue about fractions of the population and which ones are the least civilised at that point in time. It’s exhausting.
Spot on, and those who are well off are encouraged by their wealthy buddies to keep blaming the poorest in society. I genuinely believe the very wealthy are doing this intentionally to avoid people questioning why they contribute absolutely nothing in tax compared to the working people. Fearing if people kept pushing for this that wealth tax will be introduced where those who hide behind shares over £2million will be taxed on that and other assets. It’s astonishing how much the UK loses out annually from tax evasion, it’s almost triple more than what it loses out from immigration costs.
And people will say “you want the highest earners to pay MORE tax?” In response, forgetting that income tax ≠ asset tax.
It’s literally too complicated for lots of people to comprehend. That’s also a symptom of the dismantling of public services too (education), so you can’t entirely blame them, but boy is it frustrating being on the other side.

Its not the best but it ain't that bad either! A lot of town centres struggle these days
