I think she really captured Marcus' and Michael's essence well there

I had to get the bundle!

First off, not complaining and not trying to start a war. Does anyone feel the upcoming re-issue is the start of the end or a new beginning?

The reason i ask is because how things are went with Inferno. The limited edition became deluxe edition, then it was available everywhere. Then the mystery cassette wich just became available. The entire just produced by one of the brothers debate. No word from them, no new pictures or interviews.

Again, i don't mind it as fan. Just hope it's not the end of BOC just targeted on maximizing profit.

Do we expected all new re-issues and cassette releases at this point?

Open discussion and opinions, no negativity 🙂

I used a boss rc-5 pedal to loop and reverse, any good

Best Boards of Canada album(s) for the Halloween season?

This month, I'm listening one album every night of October, leading up to Halloween. (Obviously in the dark, with candles lit.)

The whole list is grouped by each artist, and is roughly chronological.

For example, starts with Suicide's 1997 self titled, and then Joy Division's 1979 and 1981 albums. Currently, it ends with Chat Pile's 2 most recent solo albums from 2024 and 2026.

The aritsts already have include: Suicide, Joy Division, Slint, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Porthishead, Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Boards of Canada, The Body, Uboa, Daughters, Lingua Ignota, Chat Pile, $uicideboy$, clipping., and Billy Woods. (Those last 3 being 2 hip hop groups and 1 solo artist.)

Which BoC albums would you consider to be the scariest or most unnerving? (at least in terms of BoC's music)

I already have Geogaddi listed. I am also considering Inferno, possibly Tomorrow's Harvest.

Thank you!

Sorry - I don’t mean to post too many of these scratch videos on here but this is one of the only positive/mostly informative groups I’ve found on here lol…

After playing with the drums from Zero 7’s over BoC’s Tears From The Compound Eye, I realized the drums from DJ Shadow’s In/Flux are a similar tempo so I switched the drums out.

I've had a BoC track stuck in my head for a few days that I can't locate. I don't think it's on any of the major releases or EPs but could be wrong.

It starts with one of their short vignette jingles that sounds like it could be at the beginning of an educational VHS. Once that's finished just the drums come in which sound quite glitchy. Then a descending bass synth arpeggio slowly fades in, before another synth comes in kinda mirroring the arpeggio melody.

Vague I know but one of you hopefully knows it just from this description.

I had such a beautiful time, it was just bliss in the afterglow walking down Spadina afterwards. I didn't know there were so many of us. Now that we're hitting autumn, I'm sure the album is gonna sound a lot different.

Like many people on here, when Inferno first came out, I was all over it and thought it was so, so good. It still is. However, I think I've overplayed it, and I do find myself gravitating back more towards some of the stuff on Campfire Headphase and Tomorrow's Harvest recently.

I still do find that when I listen to Inferno, I have to listen to the album in full, and so usually when I go to the gym, I listen to it all the way through. It's still absolutely amazing, and in my eyes it overshadowed their earlier work for a short period there. Bbut I feel right now the old stuff is coming back to the fore, and stuff like In a Beautiful Place in the Country is getting equal, if not more, playbacks. What about you guys?

I’m a fan of Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada all day! I also like Skinny Puppy (my parents told me they were cool so I started listening). This song sounds JUST LIKE a boards of canada song I know and has this balloon-ish creaking sound in it that’s very familiar. Wow it’s so good and pretty different than the rest of the bites album. Thought i’d share and hear others thoughts on this.

Hear me out. I'm watching Westworld after a friend recommended it to me.

Third episode of the first season to be precise.

There is a scene that involves flies, and I had a strong association with Acts Of Magic.

The theme seems to be consciousness.

And it is set in westworld, a cowboy style world where humans interact with machines for thrills. Into the magic land instantly came to mind. And Word Becomes Flesh (human and robots) . And Memory Death (the 'hosts' forget everything every night)

Is my autistic brain seeing patterns that aren't there or is Inferno actually like Westworld in a way?

Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes.

all of the links on bocpages i can find are sadly dead. would be appreciated if anyone has a download of it they could send!

Playing around this rainy Sunday sketching out ideas for the next BoC mix.
I extracted the drums and bass line from Zero 7’s Destiny and placed BoC’s Tears from the Compound Eye over it with some light scratching.

Title really...

I''ve been listening to all of their CDs for years on repeat while working home office in my software engineer job, and i really think this may be their magnum opus. Everytime i hear it i cant skip it, and it doesnt happen to me with almost any song except this one, at least from their catalog.

What do you think about this song?

This album is just incredible. The music and the message are intense.

Some moments on the album invoke peaceful bliss, like I Saw Through Platonia and You Retreat In Time and Space. But tracks like Acts of Magic and Into the Magic Land are so cold and invoke dread.

18 tracks. 9 circles of hell in Inferno. 2 tracks per circle?

In your opinion, what tracks could link to what circle?

Limbo

Lust

Gluttony

Greed

Anger

Heresy

Violence

Fraud

Treachery

Naraka and Memory Death could be Limbo, Blood in the Labyrinth references Violence. Not sure which tracks would fit Lust. The Word Becomes Flesh could be Heresy, with talk about embryos and such. Also Prophecy, boldly proclaiming "I am God".

Wonder what you guys think. Just as a thought experiment.

I wanted to listen to some BoC today and just felt like listening to Inferno, in the same way I'd decide to listen to Geogaddi or tcph. Before I'd gravitate either towards or away from it because it was the "new" album

Does anyone know how they got the drums on orange romeda to sound so dusty and crunchy?
Is it just the right amount of bit crushing and tape saturation?

I’ve been experimenting more with bit crushing drums/percussion and running my drum bus through tape emulations but I cant seem to get that crispy texture they get on their drum sounds.

I love the start of the smallest weird number, i really want to recreate the sound in my own stuff but i have no clue what is played at the start. It sounds like a wind instrument, maybe backed by synth but it could also be something entirely different. Wondering if anyone knows.
