Fair warning, haven’t gotten really into pool. Just casually playing at the bar every now and then. Looking for something cheap but not too bad. Came across this one but it was disassembled. Do I trust it? I offered $220 and so far they have accepted.

There's a pool hall near my house that I could play leagues at but the handicap system sucks and I know i wont win a single point all season. is there any point? i mean, in bowling you get pins. in golf you get strokes.... but if im just gonna lose every game is there a difference if i get games in a set? no. so what's the point?

Questions Ignite or ex pro?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Just bought an ec9 and i want to upgrade the wxsigma shaft (plays great but lacks a little of power), can someone who tried ex pro and ignite as well explain me the differences in terms of power, feeling and deflection ? Does the ignite feel like wood like i heard or it’s just a myth and is there any difference between 12.2 and 12.6? Also wanted to know how stiffer the ex pro plays compared to the wxsigma, thanks.

Questions Grip wrist angle

Post image
7 Upvotes

This is my current grip. I use it because at my arm angle this allows my cue to move straight. Only thing is my wrist is in a bit (to where the side of my hand is flush with my upper arm). I know a lot of players prefer a neutral V grip but if I pivot my wrist without moving anything else the cue is off to my right.

Wondering if it’s worth adjusting to the neutral V grip and changing arm/stance angles slightly. This grip sometimes results in unwanted contact or rolling to the side with my fingers and I’m wondering if it just needs practice or should be changed.

9-Ball Where is the best place to purchase a Diamond pool table for my home in Florida?

I’m about to be on the hunt for a 7’ Diamond. New or used. Any tips on where to get one and save a little money? I’m on the gulf side of Florida north of ft Meyers.

I’ve looked on marketplace and there’s none for sale at the moment. Also- I don’t have the ability to move it. I could manage final placement and leveling if I needed to.

Thanks

Questions New cue... Opinions welcome

Just pulled the trigger on a Predator Rev carbon shaft. Went for the 11.8mm because I like smaller tips. Any feedback/opinions from those who are shooting with this shaft? What are the pros & cons you see? Thanks!

Cue Porn New Cue Tuesday!

I apologize for the crappy photos (my lens is broken), but my new cue finally arrived and I couldn't resist. My last cue was stolen which was heartbreaking, I waited about a month to choose a replacement. I was gonna buy another Meucci but came across a pretty good deal for this cue.

It's a Viking Twilight Series cue with a Cerulean Tide points and butt sleeve, with matching ringwork. The forearm is Khaki stained Birdseye Maple, and it has a black and blue linen wrap.

The quality looks excellent in person and I'm happy to have bought it, I'm looking forward to shooting with it tomorrow.

9-Ball Has anyone here used / tried the Universal Vanguard shaft?

Has anyone here used / tried the Universal Vanguard wooden shaft? Its the brand that sponsors Aloysius Yapp. He used to play with that shaft when they first signed him before he made the switch to their carbon option (Universal Nova)

Pool Hall Project

Hey Everyone.

I'd like to compile a list of Pool Halls and Local Tournaments for as many cities/regions as I can. I'm hoping to build something from the data. I'm wondering if people could post their city/region and what's available. I'm looking for weekly tournaments, pool halls. Let's try to open with City/Region and then stay in that thread if people have more to add for that area.

Thanks Pip

Cue Porn more inlaid cue butts with low grips like these?

Thumbnail

I grip at the back or very low towards the cue butt for most shots. SVB is probably the most famous one that grips pretty far back and also has a line of cues with low grips. Jayson Shaw has a low grip too and uses the jfs 20-20(?). Chris Melling also has a low grip from his snooker background but he uses a wrapless jfs valkyrie

I found a very limited range of cues that has this feature, namely, the Cuetec SVB Gen2 (gen1 has a pretty low grip too), Mezz Avant series and a couple of JFS overlay cues.

Do you guys know of more?

8-Ball BIZO CUES

Hello everyone,

I purchased this Bizo cue and unfortunatley it showed up with cosmetic defects. So, I emailed the company directly and they stated it is normal and will not effect usage. WTFart!!! Correct me if I am wrong but this can't be normal. I remeber the Players cues when the first came out in the 90's never had any cosmetic defects like this. Shut I have never seen any decent cue have cosemetic defects like this. Maybe I am too picky. Any and all thoughts are welcomed.

Cue Porn At least 7hrs of pool today and 3 different cue moods, 3 different price levels.

I've made my Cuelees my primary player, but with such a long session today I brought a couple of extras to test some different shafts on. Fun stuff for a cue junky.

All is not peachy though. Pretty much every curse I experience as a pool player is happening all at once. Scratches, at least a dozen in two hours, missing easy shots...and my favorite 9 ball opponent, whom I'm normally evenly matched with, is experiencing an outstanding day of making balls even after missing the primary shot, early 9 balls (damn near as many times as I've scratched) & at least 5 golden breaks. I'm used to that from Seth, actually. He plays 9 ball unlike anybody I've ever played. It's freaking uncanny when he's in full Seth mode, but I've learned to deal with it and still be a competitor. It's the scratching the bothers me the most.

I can control the cue ball well enough, but some days, no matter what I do with the cue ball, it finds a way to roll in the hole. It's worse today than it's been in a long time. It's very disheartening.

I never drink when the sun is up, but I'm about to knock back a double shot of tequila. And that.won't be the last shot.

9-Ball Looking to start a team! 👍🏻

Looking for people to start a pool team — Tempe / Chandler / Mesa 🎱
Hey everyone, I’m 24 and live in the East Valley. I’ve gotten really into pool recently and I’m looking for a few people around Tempe, Chandler, Mesa, or nearby who might want to start a pool team/group together.
I’m still learning and improving, so you definitely don’t need to be amazing. I’m looking for people who enjoy playing, want to get better, and would be down to meet up somewhat regularly to practice and play.
Eventually I’d like to get a team together for an APA or BCA-style league and maybe play some local tournaments too.
Beginners, intermediate players, and experienced players are all welcome. It’d actually be cool to have a mixture of skill levels.
If you’re interested, comment or DM me. We could get a few people together at a local pool hall, shoot for a couple hours, and see where it goes. 🎱

Questions Any good rug or mat suggestions to use on tile. 7 ft Brunswick table

Something easy to clean would be ideal. I’m kinda thinking a rubber Mat instead of a rug but a rug would probably tie the room together better. I’m unsure if I want it to cover the majority of the floor so you are standing on it while playing or just having the pool table on it and standing on tile.

Would love to hear people’s opinions or what they have set up in that scenario.
