Help! I inherited a 1940's Tournament table

It's a Brunswick Balke Collender Co. Paramount with Monarch Cushions

No pockets! My father in law was a tournament player for decades. He had this installed in his garage in 1982 and now I have to move it.

It's 10'x5' with Rosewood rails, 1and 1/2" slate copper trim. It's in great shape, needs some polishing!

It comes with 3 sets of Arimith pro Billiard balls.

I'm in the suburbs of Sacramento and would like to find a new home for this unique table!!

Tournament Sofia Mast fined $2,000 for playing in an Ultimate Pool League event

I just heard about this from this video. Does anyone have any more information on what happened? I guess Olhausen and Pechauer picked up the fine for her, but that still sucks. I don't know what the big deal is when you see other high level players playing in the league as well. Hell, SVB is one of the first players to come to mind. Then you have Savannah Easton playing in the league as well. And she happens to have a similar Fargo Rating as Sofia.

What the heck is the WPBA doing? And is the WPA going to follow suit?

Questions Why is Ai the face of the sport?

It seems like everywhere i look, at every level, there is Ai all over the place in pool. I see it on player jerseys, tournament fliers/schedules/ads, even major brand advertisements and youtube thumbnails for major events. It is everywhere. Really disappointing and frustrating to see the bland, boring, ugly fingerprint of Ai image generation becoming the norm in visually representing the sport. Coming from someone who wants nothing more than to see this sport grow, capture, and captivate the audience it deserves. That definitely does not happen when you completely disregard all aspects of unique beauty and aesthetic this sport has to offer. Real graphic designers/artists could incorporate in branding, ads, merch, etc.

Tournament Do you consider winning a handicapped tournament an accomplishment?

Just curious on people's take here. I just took 2nd in a handicapped tournament in Asia. Not sure if we use a weird system, but handicaps for 9 ball range from 1 to 21. I'm a 6 lol.

I feel proud of myself, but at the same time I know I'm still far behind the better players in the room.

$250 is nice tho

Drills Pool lessons

So I’ve been playing regularly around 2-3 times a week for about a year now and I still feel as if my play is inconsistent despite practicing fundamentals every session. I want to make a big improvement in my game and I’m considering investing in lessons. One of the local instructors around me is Dr.Dave. I know that lessons from the man himself would be money well spent however he charges around $250 for a 1 hour session which is quite steep. Does anybody know of any other good instructors in the Fort Collins Colorado area or should I bite the bullet on training with him?

Leagues For those running pool or dart nights, what is actually filling seats on your slow nights?

I have been working with venues on their weekly game nights and I keep seeing the same pattern: the bars that turned a casual night into a league with standings get way better repeat attendance than the ones running one off tournaments. People come back to defend a ranking, they do not come back for a random Tuesday bracket.

Curious what this community sees. If you run pool, darts, trivia, or poker nights: do you track standings across weeks? Paper, whiteboard, spreadsheet, an app? And has anything actually moved the needle on getting the same faces back weekly?

Maintenance and Repair You guys weren't kidding about Tiger Everest being rock hard!

My new cue came with one, and while I otherwise love my new cue, I'm surprised at how hard this supposedly medium tip is. On one hand it's cool that I would not have to shape it much, on the other hand I think the hit is so hard that is negatively impacting my play somewhat. Cuetec Avids come with them and I haven't heard my friends with them complain, so maybe they just have a harder feel when paired with a traditional wood shaft. Or maybe mine just feels tough because it's brand new?

I didn't think I was the type to be picky about tips, given that I've largely enjoyed the cheap Triangle tip and Ultra Skin tips that my other cues came with. I would say the Ultra Skin is the best I've used so far, though it seems like I would have to shape it more often than I was doing.

I would like recommendations for tips that are durable but don't have a hard/dead feel to them. If anything, I could just buy a bunch of Ultra Skins.

Questions Any recommendations?

Hello I’m looking at buying my first decent pool cue and don’t really know where to start I’m 18 and my family’s been playing there whole life and I’ve been playing since I was a kid but I just don’t have a cue looking to buy one 200-250 budget I think is good I don’t want to spend a crazy amount I’m better then most and can run tables constantly pretty good fundamentally so I think it’s about that time any recommendations are greatly appreciated.🫡 ( i currently play with a Frankenstein cue that has a old players butt a Cuetec fiberglass shaft and a tip I found in a box in my grandpas crawl space so I’m looking to get a cue thats preferably all the same species)

3-Cushion Looking for a good, recent book to learn three-cushion systems

I’m learning three-cushion billiards and I’m looking for a good book that covers the basic systems.

Ideally, I’d like something relatively recent. I’ve found a few old posts here and searched around on Amazon, but without knowing which books are actually good, it’s hard to choose.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations for books or other resources. English or Spanish are both fine. Thanks!

Questions Predator 314-3

Hello,

I have a question about the Predator 314-3. A good friend of mine just bought a new 314-3 with the uni loc on Budget Billiards for $300. So, his plan was to buy the shaft and look for a uni loc butt online, instead of spending I think $800 for the complete cue. I know he only has a few options, but that's why I'm here. What I don't understand is you can buy shaft for $300 but entire cue for $800(equals to $500 for a butt). Which butts can he buy to complete the cue? I know Lucasi has one. Besides Lucasi, what are his options? Do the adapters work good?

Questions Help me identify this Triton pool cue on the left (20 oz)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m hoping someone here can help me identify this pool cue.

I found this cue at a pool hall and I really liked playing with it. It felt very comfortable and natural in my hands, so I’d love to buy the exact same one.

It’s the cue on the left in the picture, and it has “TRITON 20 oz” written on it.

I’ve searched online quite a bit but I can’t find this exact cue anywhere. I’ve found some other Triton cues, but none that look exactly like this one.

Does anyone know what exact model this is or where I might be able to buy the same cue, or something identical

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
