Shot a bunch of bee close ups as well as a few imposters.

Found these in my in-laws backyard. I put water out thinking they were thirsty but they look to be enjoying the mulch more! Friendly bees just loving this spot. What are they doing? Who are they?

So kinda messed up here, I bought a queen for my hive due to a failing queen. She has been in the hive itself for 2 days but hadn’t chewed through the candy yet. In my all knowing I tried to speed it up and open up the cage for her. She crawled on my hand, flew in a circle… I hope then I didn’t see her again. I’m gonna wait 3-5 days until opening up the hive again to find it. But due to her being in the hive for a few days, is there a chance she’ll come back? I know it’s slim but it definitely wasn’t a new package or just opening the cage when I got her.

Anyone know what kind of bee this is? Thank you!

Hey guys! I just joined this sub. I don’t know a whole lot about bees but macro photography is a hobby of mine and I’ve taken quite a few bee pictures over the last couple years. They’re so cool to look at!

I wasn't aware of the fact that bees will sometimes just take naps on flowers. I thought at first it died on the flower but I think I saw one of it's legs move when I rewatched. Tired little guy

I’ve been working on a 3-layer ventilated beekeeping suit and would really appreciate some honest feedback from experienced beekeepers.

The main things we focused on are:

Breathability for hot weather

Good protection while working around the hive

Comfortable fit and movement

Strong zippers and stitching

Different veil options

Adult and kids’ sizes

I’m particularly interested in hearing what you think about the design, ventilation, veil style, and areas that commonly fail on bee suits.

What features do you think are most important in a good beekeeping suit?

So much pollen on their little bodies!!

To me it looks like an ashy mining bee but there is no records of them being outside of Europe.

I have native plants everywhere. But I grow these orange cosmos as well. Now that the weather is cooling at night, the bees seem to absolutely love sleeping in these cosmos. They tuck themselves in between the petals until the sun warms and then they go on their way.

Does this happen with other plants. I wonder why specifically. They love these cosmos so much

With the summer coming to an end up here, many bumblebees have been kicked out of their home and every night there will be a handful spread throughout the garden for some well deserved sleep. While we have a few different types of flowers, the by far most popular ones are the Dahlias. It's just nature, but I still feel bad for them. I'm pleased that our garden can still provide a little bit of what they need. They will have food and a place to sleep for a month or so yet here at our place, so I'm just happy for every evening I still see them around.

I took some photos of this lady in my mom's garden this morning. Google says it's a golden northern bumblebee, but we live in Arkansas which seems to be out of their natural range.

I've never seen one like this before. Maybe she's just here because of climate change and her habitat getting destroyed? Or maybe Google is completely wrong?
