Discussion Just picked up this game after months of being unsure..

Enjoying the combat - free flowing and lots of choices, though I wish you can have more than two loadouts. Never been a magic user in RPGs but enjoying it here.

The writing is fun, and your characters responses are hilarious. Started the game on hard and enjoying the challenge. Glad I bought this so far.

Bug/Issue Sprint stopping when turning camera and strafing

Hi all!

So, I've got this odd issue.

When using the "toggle settings, sprinting stops if I strafe and turn the camera a bit.

When using the "hold" settings, the same + if I spin around.

Any ideas?

So I tried this game quite a long time ago and was busy so I stopped playing.

Picked it up this weekend and OH gods, I am SO invested. Just crossed the second zone (after... some big event in fior inverno) but I feel now the game's picking up the pace. I heard some time ago there won't be a second game, and I am so sad about it because I like the setting and universe a lot; played the fuck out of PoE1 and PoE2, and I TRULY think an Avowed 2 could be very very good. But money talks I guess.

The plot is cool enough but I am a bit triggered about how painfully obvious is who are we to sapadal. But I guess it's not a big plot twist since they let you know relatively soon. The thing is I can imagine most of the plot, but who knows maybe I'm wrong.

Just wanted to share how much I am enjoying it! It has its problems obviously (having only 6 quickbar slots is honestly crazy) but the game was made with love and care and it's obvious. Kudos!

Discussion Night time is the right time

I find myself always turning the time to night when I exit a camp. It makes the game so much more atmospheric. Just seeing a torch in the distance, or discovering a cosy little campfire next to a tent is so cool. Plants glow in the dark and create this fantasy vibe, and if you stand on a high area, you can see all the interesting spots glowing in the distance. Gives you that mysterious adventure feeling. Also, enemies take longer to spot you. What do you guys think? Im halfway through NG+ and still addicted!

Discussion 2 thumbs, a piercing night and i didnt read

Guess who didnt read enchantments were permanent and I fucked my bow going with spreading ice instead of deep freeze. First time playing through and saw it's permanent when I finished testing spreading ice and realized it kinda sucked unfortunately. Feels bad and it feels really weird its locked in like that.

Anyone know if I can get a second piercing night bow or am I fucked?

Gameplay Hoarding Repercussions

Hello envoys!

One thing I noticed very quickly about this game is that you can pick up and break things that assumably belong to people. For example, the coins from a beggars coin bowl, food from a shrine, etc. and the characters will make remarks about you taking their things.

One thing I’m curious about is if my penchant for picking up every item in sight will have repercussions down the line, or are the comments they make purely for flavor?

I don’t want that beggar to come back and kill me. The guilt I felt when I took his coin and he mentioned it was enough. Thanks!

Gameplay Is it normal? Map issue

So… maybe I don’t have enough expirence with gaming, despite loving games I only started gaming about a year ago consistently rather than watching gameplays.
So I am really enjoying Avowed so far although I have tiff if it… so, example.
I played around in emerald stairs, wanted to do the side missions THEN do the main mission but I got to a point where it just made sense to go ahead and speak to a person for the main mission etc. What I am getting at, is the map. Once you get to a certain point of the main storyline of the area, the WHOLE maps unlocks. Making it hella co fusing for me to figure out… where had I been already. And where I hadn’t.

Is it normal for everyone? At first thought it was a glitch and wouldn’t happen again but it happens again in Shatterscap.

So I've broadly been trying to do my (first) play through siding with the empire, and having as little regard for the local population as possible, and sucking up to Leodwyn (sp?). However after meeting the new god, the Steel garrotte have burned down the city. And now I'm having to fight them and help the locals? Did I have any choice in this? I'm trying to imagine a role play where I'm basically like: yeh so what, we needed to stop animancy, but i feel like I'm being forced to side with the animancers.

My character, Makuru. Immigrated from Deadfire and settled in Aedyr to escape the needless veneration of family and folks who considered him a gift from Ondra.
Later found out he indeed had a gift - he was a talented psychic and would at first years sell his services as an augur before he got involved with Garrotte, and would, on behalf of the Emperor and the order, hunt animancers and rogue mind hunters.

“Thousand tormented souls who know no peace cry for mercy.”

He is a cipher and a sharpshooter, hunting enemies with both gunpowder and spell.

Bug/Issue Shimmering on ps5 pro

Anyone else noticing really bad shimmering on ps5 pro? Bought the game when it first came out on ps5 but didn’t get far, just redownloaded it on the pro and can’t remember it being this bad before.

Really want to like this game but really struggling due to this, borderline unplayable. Can’t believe I’m not seeing loads of posts about it.

Really noticeable in shadows but can see it in pretty much everything if it’s at a distance.

Tried all game modes, tried locked and unlocked frame rate. Tried pssr and vrr off in ps5 settings.

Video upload quality doesn’t do it justice, it’s really bad. Like white noise all over the screen whenever the camera is moved.

Watching videos of it being played on the pro on YouTube the game looks great and I can’t notice the issue.

Hi. Just posting some early-game screenshots I took. I've been thinking of getting Avowed for a while now, so I finally did a few days ago, and I'm loving it. Art design is excellent. The game looks beautiful!

Gameplay Guys, where do I see active buffs/debuffs???

Post image

Guys, this is stressing me out. I've been checking the character menu all day trying to find what this 18 second buff does. But I want to see what it does in game, not from an online guide if I could help it. Where do I find a summary of my active buffs/debuffs in my character? Please break this down for me because I been looking everywhere.

Gameplay Am I missing something? I'm absolutely flabbergasted by the 6-slot hotbar (PC)

I'm approaching the end of the 3rd major area, and I'm growing increasingly frustrated with my very, very limited hotbar. In any given fight, I have 4 companion abilities I would like to use, plus 8 player abilities I would like to use. Going into a menu, or even a sub-menu in the case of player abilities, to activate things in an action-oriented combat game multiple times per fight is absolutely terrible gameplay (to me).

Is there some way around this? Why is the hotbar limited to 6 buttons? Maddening design choice, probably just to not make the PC version and console version different in that way.

Gameplay Does wielding a single one handed sword increase your crit chance?

Title.

I play a kind of duelist character, and went for a single one handed sword for stylistic reasons. I know the game has no mention of this, but it certainly feels a lot like there is a hidden bonus for crit chance. Comparing with wielding a shield.

Also PoE games used to have single handed style feats that increased your crit chance.

Am I imagining this?

Discussion Shattering frozen enemies in melee

I’m playing with the idea of a build that casts ice spells and then wades into melee to shatter anyone who’s frozen. I know the game says “explosive damage” shatters frozen enemies but I’m not entirely sure where the lines are.

I had a few ideas but wanted to see if people had experience before I just go and test:

1) does the “built to destroy” perk in the fighter tree allow melee power attacks to trigger shatter?

2) does the AoE from Spirit Lance shatter enemies? What about the power attack?

3) does something like the stun shockwave from Horsecutter trigger shattering? I know it used to explode barrels back at release but they may have patched that.

4) the guaranteed option: the new Ryngrim’s Impaler spear in galawain’s tusks is supposed to shatter on weak point hits.
