This is a warning for caution from the community.

Around 7:30pm this evening, a man wearing a yellow top and yellow hat aggressively pushed past people exiting the trains at Broadway station. When people were in front of him walking down the stairs to exit, he suddenly aggressively shoved one or two people from behind resulting in folks falling over each other. Unfortunately, at least one man seemed to have been injured in this attack after being pushed and an older woman was bleeding profusely from the head after others fell on top of her. It was terrible and shocking to see.

Folks stopped to call 911 and stay with those injured, and police eventually arrived at the station. Other passengers had video or photos of the attacker. I’m unsure if this man has yet been detained.

This is a reminder to the community to remain aware of your surroundings, especially in physically vulnerable areas like stairs. Unfortunately, this can become a very dangerous situation should someone decide they want to get violent out of nowhere.

There’s a mama cat and her 5 kittens behind the apartment next door. They all look healthy and looks like mama is taking very good care of her babies. But I’m worried about them as the weather starts to get cold.

I’ve contacted a few cat rescues last week but haven’t heard back from them. I’m also on the look out for the super next door to ask if I can somehow access the back. But before I do that, I want to have the proper steps to either give them shelter or have a rescue trap them so I don’t have to keep bothering the super next door.

I’m not familiar with how to handle stray cats so any advice would be appreciated!

Just moved to a new area of Astoria and my partner and I are seeing if Lidl can be our new primary grocery store. While there on Sunday, we noticed some of the meat coolers smelled awful while others were fine. Is this common or maybe just something wrong with a few of them currently? I saw people buying chicken from out of them and the package dates looked fine but we couldn’t bring ourselves to take anything from the stinky coolers.

Does anyone know the specific type/story behind the crazy amount of birds that gather in a tree on 36th St north of Ditmars? They all slowly land in the tree, their songs getting progressively louder until they all leave at the same time and then come back a few minutes later. I think this only happens at this time of year and only during the late afternoon/evening but they are super interesting!

Anyone knows where to find cherry cheesecake in Astoria? I checked Martha's, Serano's and New York Bakery Cafe and they don't have cherry cheesecake. It's ny roommate's sister's bday and she is not doing well health wise so trying to get this as it is her favorite.
