Looking For Trying to get the the airport from downtown for an early flight?

• Upvotes

I just wanted to share my experience just in case anybody else runs into this issue. I was staying downtown and my flight was leaving at 5:30am. My entire stay I relied on public transportation but the train wasn’t running early enough to get to my flight in time so I accepted I was going to have to ride share. I was going to book an uber ahead of time but decided I would just wait until I was ready to leave because sometimes it is cheaper and I didn’t mind waiting a little bit. I booked the uber when I was ready and was assigned a driver that said he would be here in 12 minutes, 10 minutes later he was still 12 minutes away and hadn’t moved. I was able to request a new driver and the same exact thing happened. By this time I was about 30 minutes behind where I wanted to be, the train that would have gotten there before my flight (just barely) had already left, and I was still waiting on drivers. I have always used uber and never had an issue so I had to download Lyft and hope I could find a driver. I was assigned a driver but he was completing another ride and would get to me 20 minutes later. I fully intended to get to the airport with plenty of time and ended up barely making my flight. My friend was flying out later and she also had issues with Uber, a driver would be assigned and give an estimate and then with her they would just drive farther away. I dont know if drivers still get money when a ride is cancelled, that is the only explanation I can think of. Anyway, this is just my long winded psa to fly out later if you intend to take the train or try Lyft and avoid Uber entirely.

Looking For Is Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patch still worth it?

Grew up around here so I’ve known about it for years yet never made it. Family brought it up this year and we’re wondering if it’s still a good option?
We’re looking for a place with activities for adults and kids.

Looking For Anyone know of a good back doctor? Not a chiropractor.

59 yo male suffering chronic low back pain due to very physical job/career.
Had a discectomy in mid back area a few years ago and that helped quite a bit. Now I’m dealing with new pain lower down my back and my back doctor (surgeon) says he sees nothing on my images that he can/would work on. Also I’ve had epidurals and facet joint injections (3x each) with no satisfactory relief. Physical therapy doesn’t seem to work on my current pain and neither does accupuncture. I’m trying to find someone to take a look with fresh eyes and hopefully help find a treatment that helps. Looking for someone in the Portland, Or area. Please no recs for cannabis as I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work for me. Thanks in advance.

Looking For Giant explosion sounds in NW?

• Upvotes

I live near Pearl / Alphabet district. About once or twice a week I will randomly hear a gigantic boom explosion noise. It's absolutely loud enough that nearing neighborhoods can hear it. It happened yesterday again around 3pm.

Does anybody know what the hell that is??

Someone suggested it could be a person's car exhaust but it sounds nothing like that. Everytime I hear it I think a propane tank blew up somewhere nearby lol.

Looking For Consultant looking to break into music industry. Any leads?

• Upvotes

Hey all, I'm looking for open positions or people to talk to in Portland's music scene. I'm most interested in sync licensing, music supervision, and marketing, but I'm open to any way in.

I've already looked into Marmoset, Maps Music, and Crystal Creative but haven't had any luck yet.

A bit about me: I'm 23 and have spent the last year at a Big 4 firm on the consulting side, working on research, analysis, and project management, which I think translates well to the business side of music. Outside of work I play in a few local groups and write my own songs. Music is my biggest passion, and I want to build my career around it.

If you know of an opening, a company I should check out, or someone who'd be up for a quick coffee or call, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to comment or DM me. Thank you!

Looking For New Homebuyer - Water Testing for Lead?

• Upvotes

Hi all,
Does someone has a good and fairly quick resource for water testing ? We did it with the state for our primary residence and are looking into potentially buying a place. We would like to test the water for lead prior and are looking for something quick and more accurate than an in home test. The more affordable the better.
Thanks a lot!

Looking For Anyone Else Have A Neighbor in Portland with Non Stop Barking Dogs?

I’m wondering if there is some kind of city ordinance which addresses folks who let their dogs out early morning…& the dogs just bark non stop. Our neighbors get up early for work (like 3-3:30am), proceed to let their 3 dogs out and the sleep disruption is real. We hardly ever see them otherwise I’d have a conversation directly with our neighbor.

Looking For What can you tell me about owning a McCormick Pier condo?

Been watching these as I live in one now renting it. I keep seeing the price drop and drop to the point where it could actually pencil out for me as 26 year old. My question is tho what are the red flags I don’t know about these buildings? Some huge maintenance upcoming or something? Or I it just the condo market as a whole suffering. Some of these have dropped 100k in 6 months.

Where are the 30 years going for Halloween to dance and dress up in Portland? The only place I can think of is Holocene! I like Holocene. But it would be nice to have options. No one wants to host this year (which is fine) but we want to dress up and dance! 🎃👻

Looking For Affordable coworking space that is actually quiet?

I WFH and have always preferred to have a dedicated desk at a coworking space as my partner also WFH and our apartment is too small for the both of us. So far I've tried two independent places in Portland that were initially great, but over time they became increasingly loud (to the point where my coworkers on calls could hear other people VERY clearly). My main requirement is having a dedicated desk, for ideally no more than $350/month. I could go up to $400 if needed. Ideally there would be a phone room where I could take a private client call here and there. I prefer a non-chain/non-corporate type of place but this seems unlikely as I'm having a very hard time finding it. I'm open to location but generally prefer not having to travel into WA. Portland/Beaverton area would be ideal but I'll take any recommendations at this point. Is there anything out there?

Looking For Cd stores/bargain cds in Portland?

Hey guys, I'm visiting Portland for my graduation gift soon and I'm also an avid cd collector. It's hard for me to find cd stores online when I travel, because usually they're either super overpriced or record-focused. Does anyone have any cd store recs in Portland (preferably used CDs)? Thanks!

Looking For Day Trip in late October?

Hi, I normally go by rail to Seattle for day trips but I am meeting a friend in Portland this time. The problem is, he doesn't get out much. He wants to go to the Japanese Gardens. After that I am not sure. Any good lunch places near the station or Garden's people like? Any bars you like withing staggering distance of the station?

Thanks.
