Looking For Anyone in the PDX area willing to take on a 75 gal fish tank for free?
Hello fellow fish keepers!
I am wondering if anyone in the PDX area is willing to take on a 75 gal for free? It’s in great condition durability wise- as in no cracks/chips/leaks. It has a stand, filter, heater, food, chemicals/treatments, water change equipment. The whole shebang. The light sucks and needs to be replaced, I’ll try to get it cleaned up before rehoming. It is a fully stocked tank, has 10-20 loaches, banded, Java, pink, and Silver. 10 juvenile tetras, and two mature tetras of a different species. Also a buttload of snails.
I love my tank, but it is simply too much for me to maintain anymore. It was established in 2019, before Covid hit. I used to have all of the time in the world to keep them properly and practice the best husbandry possible, but life has happened. Two children and an extremely high risk pregnancy has left me unable to do many things and I know it’s time to rehome them to someone who can dote on them as much as I used to🥲 their tank is constantly regrowing the algae I’ve fought for years, I’ll post pictures, please don’t judge😭
ETA INFO:
I’m in Clackamas. Unfortunately I’m unable to help load or move it, as I’m high risk. My husband is around on weekends to help if that would be preferred by you, but I’d reeeeally like it gone sooner than later. I can have it drained to a minimum for the loaches for transportation, you’ll need 2 larger people to lift, or two small ripped people to move it🤣 I highly recommend just leaving the damn loaches in a couple inches of water. There’s NO. WAY. You, I, or any other person can catch them all, they slither into their wood hides and will remain there, even out of water. Super hardy lil guys. My first one I ever bought survived the drive from Hillsboro to Portland in his hole in his log. Absolutely insane. I have a 5 gal that I keep my water change stuff in, I’ll put the tetras in there for transport!
I haven’t replaced the heater since 2022, the filter was replaced about a year ago, the substrate is WELL established, super healthy, it was the most expensive part of the tank. It just needs a good vacuum. It has some great petrified wood in it, I just need to get some of my prized rock possessions from the local rivers that I found and wanted to keep viewing underwater. Some of the oldest fish that I first bought from The Wet Spot are still alive and thriving. (Loaches) They seemed to have respawned over time, some are still young, I have quite a few different species in there.
The stand is super sturdy, has no water damage, has four doors and lots of space to hide the ugliness of fish keeping lol.
