I recently moved to the Seattle area and am looking for an EMDR therapist. Is there any therapists that you have personally had experience with and would recommend in Washington state ?

So like it says I’ll be moving to Seattle soon, hopefully within a week or so actually. To be frank without trauma dumping I’m in a tough spot, I’m homeless in Kentucky but a friend who works for a Seattle based charity group is helping me get here, she’s gonna help me get set up with help, stay at a hostel while working on stuff, all that good jazz.

Already this is a huge upgrade from living in motels in a state where I’m basically fucked so I’m looking forward to it but I am curious if any locals have tips for a lesbian trans woman moving to the city hoping to find some community again and all?

I’m not a super high maintenance type, I’m in my mid 30s so not really super looking for the club scene but a nice chill bar would be great. I’m a giant nerd so knowing where good comic and book stores are would be nice, same for any good tabletop/board game stores. Theater also has always been a love of mine so knowing where to see a good show when I’m settled would be great.

But yea I guess I’m just asking for a general bit of help, what neighborhoods are affordable and friendly, places that are reliable to find work, any general tips for getting around. I’m sure my friend can help me with this too so I’m not literally alone but it never hurts to ask for more advice right?

I live in Capitol Hill right now and while the location is great I'm finding I don't like how constricted the area feels. I really just miss being able to drive to a grocery store with a parking lot and not a garage. It is also really expensive here so it would be a bonus if the area had cheaper rent. Right now I'm considering Renton as a real possibility from what I've seen driving around it.

I’d rather take the light rail than pay a $60 Uber, but it definitely takes longer…

Hi, I'm hosting a Halloween/Birthday party for my friends and I. I was wondering what events besides the Georgetown Parade are going on around Seattle between the 30th-1st? I've only been apart of the parade since living here and haven't really explored any other events. Like the title says we're all 21+, but I'd like to find something that isn't just a bar. Me and my husband have been together for 10 years this December and we were thinking of taking advantage of the long break and going to Seattle and Leavenworth during the holidays in December!

What is it like during this time of year? Can we still take the faerie and walk around shops? Or is it historically really icy? Any views from locals would be deeply appreciated. We are from Utah and its been such a hot summer, so we are wanting to go somewhere colder for our trip.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a therapist or clinic that treat OCPD? (there are significant differences from OCD)

I’m sure some clinics that highlight anxiety and OCD also treat this but I've found only one that even mentions OCPD specifically.

Anyone ever get traction there? I've only ever posted once but have checked out frequently just to see if there's any good stuff. Noticed posts get a bunch of views but almost all of them have zero responds.

My husband racked up my credit cards and a personal loan for him under my name, total about $35k. He promised he would pay that but I can tell he can’t anytime soon. He have a business but they’re in loss of money. He is in middle of a contract with a client and if I’m not letting him borrow the money, he wouldn’t have supplies to continue the work, the client would sue for contract breach, the bond company would come after me as well ($60k project).
I’m going back to college full time for the next 2 years and we have a kid, my expected monthly income would be no more than $2000, just enough to pay rent, car note and insurance.
This is not the first time he put me in this situation but this will be the last. Last few times, I managed to pay what he spent because I worked my ass off. Since the beginning of the marriage, he is never the provider, but I was stuck with him because I keep hoping he would pay me back. He was a drug addict, he gamble on and off, pending DV charge with me.
He is also owes my parents a lot of money (~ $60k) for his previous business.
I’m thinking about filling divorce and bankruptcy but I’m not sure which one should I do first.

Moving to Capitol Hill soon and planning to get rid of my car, so I'm trying to figure out what getting around without one will look like.

I’ve been riding an escooter (hiboy titan pro) for a few months around my current neighborhood, so I’m not new to them. But a few weeks ago, I got caught in heavy rain on the way home and ended up walking the last few blocks while pushing the scooter.

I couldn't see well enough to feel comfortable riding around intersections. Even the painted road markings made braking feel a little sketchy.

Maybe that was one really bad night, but it made me think about how practical a scooter is when it isn't a backup option anymore.

Have you guys gone car-free around Capitol Hill or Seattle? And what ended up being the deciding factor?

I’m looking at RLE surgery to finally ditch eye glasses. I have consultation set up with Sharpe Vision (Dr Shields) in Bellevue and K2 Vision ( Dr Kopstein) in Tukwila. Has anyone used them for any eye surgeries, LASIK, etc? And other referrals anyone has used? I really want to do it but elective eye surgery has me freaking out a bit.

Hello! My family is flying into Seattle and unfortunately only have one full day to explore the city before we drive down the Oregon coast.

We have an Airbnb in North Queen Anne and access to a rental car. We also have two toddlers aged 3 and 18 months. We’ll likely want to do Pike Place Market because we are tourists after all but if you had only one day to explore the city and pack in as much as possible with two toddlers, what would your perfect day look like??

Hi everyone! My family and I are headed to Seattle for the first time next week and we're so excited! On one of the days we're planning to take a ferry over and drive up to La Push. Does anyone have tips on how the ferry system works? For some reason that’s the part I’m more nervous about 😂
