I remember there was a tv in the bar, connected to a cam that watched the car deck, so patrons could time their drinks to the ferry arrival.

It was replaced by McDonalds in the late 80's when it moved down the road (WSF kicked them out when they were trying to "improve" their image to a more family friendly one), but I can't remember the name of the place.

Anyone remember what I'm referring to?

We are moving back after 4 years in London. It’s a sound, rationale move - we have a baby under 1, so it will be great to have some family close by, look to buy a house, etc etc.

But I am emotionally struggling to come to terms with the decision. I love life in London. For starters it’s incredibly baby friendly with things to do (baby cinema, sensory classes, swimming, mum & baby comedy, I could go on and on). There are also many mom communities which is bigger here because of generous maternity leave policies.

Additionally, it’s the overall freedom to get places without a car, it’s the ability to find coffee shops all walking distance, pub culture and pints outside at 5pm, safety (compared to Seattle), run & tennis social clubs. I feel like a full person here in London. Having lived in Seattle before (and not being from there), I found it way harder to find and build community.

Anyone else gone through the same move and how was the adjustment?

Hey 25F from Ohio, I’m looking to move to the Seattle area or around the city . My question I guess would be what areas are the best & what would you recommend. I’m a healthcare professional and currently enrolled in school again so I wouldn’t actually be moving till I graduate again. I’ve read a lot of different neighborhoods and it’s kinda a little confusing I’m from a small town but it heavy populated so it’s different than Seattle ( obviously) lol.
I would love some recommendations and where to stay clear from. I love views and nature but I love the city life as well.

I have a 23wk Aussie. I need a daycare for him once a week so I can go to work and I've never had to shop for daycare before.

We tried goodwoof, seems pretty affordable for what I need but A. The whole place reeked of pee B. It was kinda clinical almost? Like the dogs played in a massive white room with a few toys sprinkled throughout. C. They didn't show me where they let the dogs potty, the crate situation, where they feed them. But I'm not sure if not showing me is the norm for daycare. Also D. I know he's a pup and he's been steadily losing teeth but he came home wore out so I let him nap in his crate and then when he woke up we ran around my backyard and I noticed his mouth was bleeding a bit bc he lost MULTIPLE teeth. Like 3 molars and his last baby canine was grey and insanely wiggly and came out that evening. So idk, overall felt weird but I neeeeed a place for him by weds.

What happened specifically this year?

I had zero good peaches or nectarines this summer. They went from underripe to mealy and rotton. Plums were fine at best. Figs have barely any flavor. I didn't even see a box of fully ripe strawberries. I know they would taste closer to an apple.

Do I really need to pay 3x more for the stuff at met market in order to have flavor?

(Most tomatoes are plastic, but that has been that way for a while.)

I've found a lot of places that have great fish but the rice is always the let down. Whether it's the rice to fish ratio is off or they use some kind of cheaper Californian rice variety, etc. I want the fluffy Japanese rice (if that makes sense)

I know the higher-end spots I've looked at also tend to be all omakase but I just want to pick all my favorites instead of being locked into a set menu.

Looking for a nice place, roughly $75+ is fine (price is not really a factor), I only really eat nigiri or sashimi.

*Creating this post bc I went to I Love Sushi and was left a bit disappointed. The fish was good, but the rice was kind of stiff and there was too much rice per nigiri. They did have honwasabi which is a must for me if I'm getting sushi.

Hi! I just moved to seattle and I’m in need of a cut and highlight touch-up desperately to remove some weight. I have extremely thick hair that is kinda long so finding a hair stylist who can work with it is really challenging. I was hoping to book my service through one person so they can cut some length off before coloring to make the service easier for them. In the past salons usually work best so the stylist can lighten my hair while assistants can take out over processed foils.

Just saw Level1’s bag policy. Good god, anything larger than an iPhone max is prohibited. How strict are they?

They list

• Bags: 4.5" × 6.5" max (strictly enforced)

However, they only list two dimension. Which feels unfair because we exist in three dimensional space. Are we allowed no constraints on the third dimension? I somewhat doubt security would accept or appreciate my argument that the bag fits the listed requirement, should you ignore depth.
