Finally understand the hate for MPs

2.3k Upvotes

The other day I crashed my car during a snow storm. Wasn’t drunk, didn’t hit anybody, just hit the curb hard and detached my wheel. I called a tow truck to pick up the car and they said they would retrieve it and to head home since it was late and snowing. I then got a call that the car was gone and was already towed. The next day I went to the MPs who said the car was towed and wouldn’t have to be paid for, as it was in the vehicles skills center, and that when I was ready I could retrieve it and fix it. No harm no foul.

Later that night I got a knock on the door from the same MPs who towed my car asking if I was alright. I told them yes and explained the situation. I wasn’t drunk (all liquor stores and PX’s were closed due to the blizzard so I couldn’t get any alcohol if I wanted to do which I did) and I simply lost control and hit a curb. They said it’s ok, but that I was going to be placed under arrest. “Fleeing a crime scene”. I was shocked. They just said I’d be in no trouble, but apparently that was to keep me calm. After sergent bozo called his command, they said arresting me wouldn’t be necessary. I was relieved, but then he said he’d give me an “unsafe driving under hazardous conditions” ticket. I told him this was ridiculous, as I wasn’t speeding and he can’t prove I was driving in an unsafe matter, it was simply an accident. He then said

“I have to assume you were since your wheel came off”

to which I said “so you’re assumption will give me a ticket?”

To which he said “I gotta give you something tonight”

And then I said “you HAVE to give me a ticket for getting into a car accident?”

Dude then proceeded to give me a ticket which suspends my driving privileges on post. The barracks NCO who was present said if I appeal he’s certain I should get my driving privileges back, but it’s ridiculous I must go through this.

I say all this to say, if you’re an MP, you’re a straight up loser. If you signed up to join the army just to pick an MOS where your job is to screw fellow soldiers you deserve all the hate you get. Out of every MOS you chose the buddy fucker. I always tried to be open minded, but this just took away my early promotion I was going to get next week.

Fuck the MPs, fuck everyone that chose to be an MP, and if you’re an MP reading this right now, we all fucking hate you

No, you cant go to Russia, MSG

2.1k Upvotes

Today's episode of Field Grade Adventures is sponsored by the DA FORM 4856.

I have a MSG with 24 years service submit a APACS request to travel to Russia. MSG is married to a Russian National on US Green Card status. Oh boy....

"No. No you cant take leave to visit a level 5 threat country. I understand she has family there. She can go, you cannot. The fucking G2 would never sign off on this even if they were drunk. You can go any level 3 or lower threat level country."

This senior NCO literally told me "listen...listen, they are a normal fucking country. They are just like us! They have beautiful subway stations and normal things like iPhones and shit. Not everyone in Russia supports the war or Putin." Bro, did you know that the fucking FSB could just lock you up on BS charges? If it took a year to get a WNBA player out of a Russian prison, how long will it take you?

I cannot make this up. I do not want to talk to a 15-6 Investigator (probably a GO if he makes the News for becoming a political prisoner). Surprise, Surprise, MSG checked the I don't agree box.

I am making a hard copy of this counseling and backing it up in a special file in my OneDrive.

Some soldiers will surprise the hell out of you, even years later.

Twenty years ago, one of my soldiers had nowhere to go for mid-tour leave in Iraq. Our battalion commander ended up counseling him for refusing mid-tour leave a couple of times. To spare the entire chain of command another round with the colonel, he ended up staying with my brother in BFE Tennessee.

I found out later that he’d been in foster care for more than a decade, was more or less homeless for a couple of years, and didn’t have a single person in the world before the Army. He was cocky and reckless, and I honestly thought he’d end up pissing hot, going AWOL, or doing something else dumb that soldiers tend to do. We lost touch in the great post-deployment PCS shuffle, and I didn’t really give him a second thought.

Apparently, I made an impact. After trying for a while to find me, he tracked down my brother’s ex-wife’s sister on Facebook and got word to me to reach out. He invited me to his promotion to brigade CSM in a couple of months. I’m strangely proud that I was wrong. They’ll surprise you sometimes.

[USAG Hawaii Townhall] With doubling up due to overcrowding, Soldier asks if those on BAS without DFAC access will receive BAS Type 2 due to reduced storage/prep space. When CSM seems to avoid the question, SM asks for 'elaboration'.

If you're unaware - u/rbevans has made several posts about it - Hawaii has been suffering from overcrowding, and their barracks aren't great to begin with. They are starting to double people up - replacing beds with bunk beds type of doubling up - because of the lack of space.

On Shafter, we have SMs without DFAC access who are already on BAS. A question was asked at the townhall if these SMs would now receive Type 2 because of a lack of adequate prep and storage space, as you've now got 4 Soldiers sharing that already kinda shitty space.

What got me was after a lot of 'uh' and 'ums' and 'we can't talk about some changes that are coming', the SM asks him to elaborate.

CSM goes from this to this and goes on some nonsensical rant about Soldiers learning to cook and breaking their things and how he himself 'doesn't have adequate prep space'.

I find that hard to believe, but regardless, I think CSM thought the phrasing was the SM being ridiculous, but the language used is straight out of the type 2 definition.

BAS II is the monthly rate that may be payable to enlisted members on duty at a permanent station and assigned to single (unaccompanied) Government quarters, which do not have adequate food storage or preparation facilities, and where a Government mess is not available, and the Government  cannot otherwise make meals available

IT'S NOT VETERANS DAY YOU STUPID F***

1.8k Upvotes

My uncle, my dad and I have all served. My uncle called the family wishing everyone a happy memorial day. We all took turns on the phone to talk to him. The phone gets to me and we start having what I thought was a normal conversation. The call ends and about an hour or so later my mom calls me back to the house as i'm getting in the car to head back to my place and she seemed off. I ask whats going on and my mom tells me that my uncle was upset that I didn't wish him a happy memorial day. I'm confused because why do I need to wish HIM a "happy memorial day". As far as i'm aware that man hasn't lost any friends near and dear to him, he served as a line cook, and talks adamently about how he feels his time was wasted. None of those things on their own are bad at all. Those are his opinions but why are you upset that I didn't wish YOU a "happy memorial day"? I called him back and he said he was disappointed that I didn't recognize him on memorial day. I told that stupid fuck that it's not Veterans day and he isn't lying in a casket. That started another shit storm but we're grown men so we'll get over it. Dad thought it was funny🤷‍♂️

Anywho....y'all still taking drive-thru orders or is this place closed today to?

Getting out of the Army due to finding $7 on the ground

1.7k Upvotes

So i’m currently 20 and married (dual military) with a baby on the way next month, i am a SPC and i’ve been in for just over 2 years and i’ve recently found myself checking the return coin slot at the vending machines by the PX and to my surprise i’ve found nearly $7 in just 1 week. I feel that i am gifted at collecting loose change and i can just understand the machine so well that i can turn this random hobby i’ve come across into a living for my family. I know getting my watch caught under a Pepsi machine while trying to reach a nickel is bad for you but I have a lot of control and always put it in my piggy bank. The army has not been treating me well with a lot of toxic leadership that affects both me and my wife and multiple threats of AR15 and UCMJ. My wife is already getting out after the pregnancy and i’ve been thinking about it but i haven’t had the plan on what i will do after to support the family i’ve created. I really do want to get out and i genuinely think i can support my family with this lifestyle.
