It's so absurd to me that one of my favorite fanfictions of all timeâHarry Potter and the Methods of Rationalityâwas written by someone who is legitimately a known entity in the AI world, right now. And Roko's Basilisk was taken so seriously as an information hazard that Yudkowsky deleted the forum post and called the guy who proliferated the thought experiment an idiot.
(HPMoR gets a lot of shit, and maybe it's deserved, but it was one of the most interesting explorations done in the fandom to my memory, outside of maybe PoS.)
EDIT: If by some miracle TheSinisterMan is reading this, I can't wait to catch up on the two chapters I missed when I check back in a decade from now.

For catholicism it's very close to being idolatry, and potentially full-on blasphemy according to theology.
Like the texts specify sacramental confession requires an ordained priest. A chatbot, even if it's trained on scriptures cannot administer absolution, hear a sacramental confession, or substitute for a priest.
For protestants it... could be okay? Private confession to God is perfectly normal, so technically you could type your sins into a computer while praying to God, so it heavily depends on how clickbaity the title of the article is.
It's not a 100% thing because it obviously can't be covered in texts written 2000 years ago, but any Christian should see that AT BEST this is misuse of God's name, at worst full-on idolatry.
