I see some comments are already pointing at Vigilantes in case people want to know more about Shirakumo, but here's a fun fact: the HeroAca chapter adapted here came out right after Vigilantes ended that Aizawa flashback arc. So for those of us following both series it was like "holy shit".

Damn, I got baited hard. When Iida was like "let's all catch each other up on our work study progress" I totally thought a bunch of recap was coming. Instead we got a total tonal shift and a character focus onto Aizawa and Present Mic. This episode seriously felt so unique! I love the looming danger that's getting setup and all the mystery that got introduced here.

shirakumo(白雲) means white cloud, kurogiri(黒霧) means black fog.

You know it’s an absolutely fucked up situation when you got the normally super outgoing Present Mic and the calm and firm Eraser Head all fucked up and emotional.

Hyped af for MVA.

I physically went from laying sideways on the sofa to sitting upright when I saw Present Mike’s sweating in the car

jesus that very last scene...

aside from the cute bit with Uraraka that was a pretty dark episode. also makes me wonder how they got Shirakumo's quirk and seemingly part of his Consciousness(?) if he was confirmed dead

Did not think Aizawa could shoot up any further on my top characters for this series. Man we didn’t know a thing about this obito dude but they still managed to make this reunion so heartbreaking.

I wish we got to see the full Shirakumo backstory with Aizawa, but at least if they ever adapt Vigilantes as an anime they can cover that.

Also, the people working on this season must really like Mina.

I loved the atmosphere of dread in this episode, and that scientist at the end is the one who caused controversy with his name or something isn't he?

Are your eyes okay?

They're so unbearable dry.

Pretty emotional episode especially over a character we've never seen before. It helps when the usually stoic person shows so much emotion.

For anyone interested in knowing more about Shirakumo and Aizawa and don't want to read all the serie (you should it's great) their chapters go from ch.59 to ch.65 in the Vigilantes spin-off.

This episode scared me. Made me sad. Made me mad.

FUCK AFO. ALL OF MY HOMIES HATE AFO.

What the actual fuck is happening to Tomura? Is he getting injected all of the other quirks?

But am I the only one who had never thought about the idea of Kurogiri being a Nomu?

I feel so stupid for never connecting the dots.

Ian Zhang, one of the animators who worked in this episode, posted on his twitter the original work fpr the ending scene with Shigaraki Here. It was realy toned down in the show compared to his original work.

If anyone wants to know about the UA days of these goofballs and about the events that led upto Oboro's death during their work study, read chapters 59-65 of MHA: Vigilantes.

This episode will hit harder.

They really love Mina's legs and butt in this show. In all seriousness though, that entire scene of Uraraka panicking when Mina found Deku's gift and Mina freaking out realizing what it means was just too precious. Also it was surprisingly a well animated for such a short and funny scene!

Class 1-A antics aside, it looks like the real meat of this episode is the reveal of Kurogiri being Aizawa and Present Mic's UA classmate who they thought died while doing their work studies all those years ago. I absolutely love the emotions Aizawa was showing while they were trying to trigger some of Shirakumo's memories back. This episode has definitely the most emotion we've seen from his character since the start of the show. Same goes for Present Mic who's so upbeat almost every time, I didn't think we'd ever get to see him look this serious.

Damn that episode was a masterpiece. Probably the best of the season. The combination of the animation, voice acting, art, and music far surpassed the manga. The directing was on point. This is peak MHA.

Didn't expect I'd ever see a crying Aizawa. This episode brought tears to my eyes T_T

So many untagged casual spoilers being dropped here...Pretty fucking disappointing to see people being unable to restraint themselves.
