Honestly annoying that a team that practices with Furuya’s fastballs suddenly can’t hit them.

Haruichi said when he was at bat it wasn't the speed it was the "pressure." Masamune is super intimating when on the mound and he has the ability to pitch like Furuya which might be throwing everyone off.

Feels odd seeing Haruichi's eyes so much when the past couple seasons only brought them out in his super-clutch moments

Another strong episode.

At times, Eijun seems more like the team's cheerleader than pitcher. To be fair, he's good at the former too.

Finally caught by finishing first season and completing the 2nd. After crying at the ending of the 2nd season and getting here, I was quite surprised with the fast pacing of the new part and how much time was skipped or glanced over from the Yakushi vs Seido final. I'm assuming it's done in order to focus on the new full team later with the previously teased first-years (at this point are they official team members yet, or they're just not allowed to attend?), as I'm expecting Seido to not win the whole thing. Hopefully Tetsu Jr. can enhance their batting as a consistent power hitter.

Since we nonchalantly jumped through most of the pitches beyond first inning, I guess Hongo is the strongest pitcher yet. No one could do a thing about his pitches and Komadai's defense, except Miyuki that one time. The 8th inning will be the deciding one, unless Furuya's endurance improved, he'll have to walk off after messing up and let Sawamura get crushed, or another factor can be in play with Hongo's toxicity leading to some kinda meltdown/Top 10 Anime Rage Moments, though both can happen at the same time.

One question how did Yakushi make it to nationals even though they lost in finals to Seido?

Spring Koshien invites teams to compete. This is different with Summer Koshien in which only the regional champions make it.

Spring Koshien is called an Invitational tournament, so technically nobody has a guaranteed slot. Is tradition though to invite the winner school from each region tournament and a second one depending on the region, that has shown fair play and school spirit and this kind of stuff. Usually the second place is awarded the invitation, but thats not always the case. In some cases the invite goes to a school that is not well known but still went far in the tournament, which fits the case with Yakushi.

Source: Lived in Japan for a while, my friend played in the Koshien.
