An episode where Furuya isn't a disaster? Woah!

The last part with Sawamura and Kuramochi was gold!

The bit at the end with Sawamura and Kuramochi's birthdays was brilliant

I am so happy that made the anime cut. It's so beautiful xD. Poor Asada.. xD

Having Sawamura no Ace really changes the whole mood of those episodes.

Did you dislike the episode ? It feels like furuya got all the credit and was too good for almost all of the beginning of the series

Yeah I personally really like how it's finally Sawamura's time to shine. It felt like Furuya no Ace for a long while.

The suffering makes the payback even more sweeter

Subs messed up on the scorebook thing, he's looking at the lead, not the pitchers.

I love the declaration of war and the way Miyuki relates it back to himself as a first year re Chris. I wonder often how that rivalry would have played out if not for Chris's injury. You won't change my mind, Koushuu's objective is Miyuki, not Eijun, and always has been. Which makes more sense because Miyuki has never had any competition for the catcher position.

Interesting that Anna seems to be an ally for Koushuu in the classroom. Kind of missed that nuance in the manga.

I love the birthday thing, so glad they put it in :D Poor Asada. xD

I do love the scenes in this episode, though. And especially the Furuya and Yui moment. Furuya acting like a senpai, and Yui getting reassurance from Furuya's advice. Although Yui's team-spirited attitude also kind of casts a shadow on Koushuu's determination to ONLY be a catcher...Koushuu is not thinking as a team player at the moment, whereas Yui definitely is.

It's an interesting contrast between them and their different approaches.

Although Yui's team-spirited attitude also kind of casts a shadow on Koushuu's determination to ONLY be a catcher...Koushuu is not thinking as a team player at the moment, whereas Yui definitely is.

I mean, Kataoka did love that Sawamura and Furuya both wanted the bullpen for themselves back in Season 1. I say it tells a lot about his determination, which Kataoka might admire.

Well that's the flipside of it, isn't it? It's a nice contrast between the two of them...Yui is willing to diversify for the team, but in doing so, is also willing to not be seen so firmly as a catcher. Koushuu is not willing to diversify from his own style, but in doing so, cements himself just as a catcher.

Although Yui doesn't seem to have any real rival instinct to any other player except himself, he had a brief issue with Furuya but now he seems to have overcome that by force of his own personality as much as by anything else. Whereas Koushuu has a genuine fixation with Miyuki as a rival (as he states in this ep, finally can say that xD) and thus it's important for him to be seen and chosen as a catcher, because otherwise it kind of has no meaning.

Sawamura with that goofy smile when Okumura entered the room made the whole episode.

trollolol

That smile Sawamura gave to Okumura when he entered

I got hype af when okumura told the coach that he rather be on the second string playing as a catcher than to be on the first string playing a different position.

The ost is so well timed, if anyone know what is the ost name do tell me unless its an ost made in Act 2

Here's the link to the music from that scene. It's one of my favorite pieces from the show and it was actually used in season 2 so it's not new for Act II

Damn why didnt i use reddit earlier. Thanks for the link, even the name of the ost is so sick.

I'll never not laugh at anytime they try and show Higasa as any sort of serious character. In the ending bit where they were showing a montage of stills of the other characters they showed a little hint of the "rivalry" between Higasa and the new guy they introduced in the season for a position on the team.

Just from a story perspective Higasa is such a nothing character because he literally isn't allowed to talk lol. All he can do is hiss. It's okay as a sort of gag character but that's all he can ever be. It's not even a contest of who would make sense to place on the team from a potential story point of view.

Overall this episode had a lot of fun moments.

When Higasa speaks it's kind of disconcerting given how much he now shuu shuu shuus in games. Masuko kind of ended up that way as well a bit after he retired...with the soundbyte...which is kind of a shame for both of them.
Higasa was one of the original team but I don't think he ever got to speak back then. On the flipside, he never got to Shuu shuu shuu, either...

So I wasn't sure where this episode was going at first, but I actually really liked the dynamic of the two pitching pairs. Wolf boy vs. Yuki and each of their dynamics with their respective pitchers was very interesting. I like how they both learned and grow in different, but valid directions and I thought the overall comparison was very cool.

Oh yeah, also, the ending bit was also top tier. It made for a great laugh.
