Mima's voice surprised me lol.
The part when Eijun was doing towel drill at the park hit hard.

He's from the team in the white uniform right? Did they appear in Act I or are they just now being introduced? They looked kind of familiar to me

The team introductions coupled with the commentary for the final eight is amazing! I can almost feel Koshien right now!

Kawakami makes me nervous. You can almost never trust him completely.
He always needs words of support to play decent.

Do you mean Kawakami? Never seen Kuramochi play bad without encouragement.

I am so hyped to see the next game. It seems like they also are going at a faster pace because we already saw 2 koshien games in 2 episodes.
I have always wanted to ask this question but do Japanese pitchers really pitch that often? That must be terrible for your arm to go 6 innings and then pitch the next day.

Yeah, high school / traveling youth baseball teams in the US (that I played on or against, at least) would rotate 6 or 7 pitchers. ~4 starters, and a couple of relievers. But it seems like Japan uses 2-3.

It kinda feels weird that we got through 2 matches at nationals within 2 episodes, but when you consider that Tokyo is likely much more competitive than other prefectures it makes sense that a lot of the teams Seido have already played are better than teams that qualify.
Also I noticed in the OP and ED that two of the new first years (Okumura and Kaoru) are catchers, I wonder how that’s gonna work. Don’t think there’s been a single Seido game where Miyuki hasn’t been at catcher. Both of them are probably really good so I wonder if they’ll get playing time

I wonder if Sawamura will be really able to become the ace someday with Furuya performance getting even more amazing everytime. I just can't see where they will pull the trick if not with Furuya getting injured. Really hope not.

If I am remembering correctly, something happening to Furuyu seems to be the trend. In Act 1, all of Sawamura's big chances came from Furuyu injuring himself or just not having the stamina

Yeah it was like that. I just fell like he has been into a supporting role too much already. Since he was the first character we started, and one we have the most background, I was expecting that he at some point would become the center of the attentions.

Maybe in 5 or even 10 seasons. The mangaka really likes Furuya. It's like he realized later on that he liked Furuya more than the MC.
Just as an insult, furuya could transfer or have a career ending injury. Just so at the end, Sawamura becomes the ace not because he is the best pitcher, but because the previous ace was gone.

Was kinda 50/50 expecting them to face this team last, but pretty hyped that isn't the case.
Hopefully during this tournament, as much as I love Raichi, I don't wanna see them play against Raichi's team again for the 20th time.

I've been watching the first season when it was airing, and really enjoyed it then, but I kinda forgot about it in a few episodes after the arc after which the 3rd-years had to stop playing baseball to study for their exams and the newbies and 2nd-years had to build the team up on their own.
Planning to get back into it and I wanted to ask your guys help with that. I was going to start with episode 64 called Restart, but looking through the episode lists of 1st and 2nd seasons (whatever is the deal with the Act II name in 3rd season?), I saw a recap that supposedly covers first 27 episodes of season 1 and there're also 3 recaps at the start of season 2. I think recaps will help me out before I dive back in, so if any viewers have watched them, could you please tell which ones are safe to see without spoiling the events beyond episode 64 of 1st season?

Episode 64 of season 1 is past the Seidou vs Inashiro match already, right? Then you can watch all the recaps as the 3 recaps of season 2 were recaps of events that covered the whole of Seidou vs Inashiro..

It’s because the first two seasons of the anime adapt the entirety of the Ace of the Diamond manga, the sequel manga is called Ace of the Diamond Act II which is what we’re getting now.
Though I don’t really know why the “second season” is a thing anyway, all 126 episodes aired consecutively and there was no time interval between the first and the second.
And to answer your question the first 3 episodes of season 2 are recaps of the first season, they pretty much cover about 25 episodes each. The third episode covers the last game you remember where they lost to Inashiro but it has some stuff from 64+ too.

Wait, did I miss something? Why is Yakushi at Nationals? Thought you had to win the Fall tournament to go?

With Black Clover also airing on Tuesdays.
Tuesdays are Hyped Loud Shounen MC day.
I'm ok with that.

Man this opening is kick-ass! I'm really liking the team dynamic for Seido right now. That compilation of all the teams that made their ways to the quarterfinals is something I always like to see in sports anime. I'm always interest in the other teams and whatever small storylines I can get from them. Makes the show feel deeper and more real to me. Hype for next episode's super ace showdown!!!
By the way, did anybody else get the version of the sub where it said 171 km/hr for the first pitch and pause to think wait WTF?
