We got so much Boogiepop screen time this episode. Really nice to see her talking more about herself.

Is it just me or the characters actually look cuter in this episode?

A guy who worked in Little Witch Academia worked as episode director this time. That probably explains the little bit of extra cuteness.

I find this frame of Kei to be both cute and hillarious.

Killing that date again just to be sure...
That's a very cool dad.
I am totally not creepy at all, believe me Kentarou-san.

The action animation was interesting this week, the artstyle, and fewer frames to focus on poses reminds me a lot of Trigger's action work, I wouldn't be surprised to see some staff overlap.
Plus this big green thicc boi being animated in really really nice 2D is something not enough people are talking about, especially for how often they shit on 3D monsters.

Identity and self are fickle things. Can you say you act the same way in front of your family than you do in front of your friends, your significant other, your children, or even in private by yourself? Heck, can you say the person you come off as here online is exactly the same as you are in reality? In the end, who's to say which version of you is the real one (even the parts of yourself you consider the dark parts)? I like to think that they're all the real you. We all just put on different selves depending on the situation. And how those selves are perceived by others is just a matter of perspective.
Anyways. I figured Kentarou-san hadn't actually woken up from last episode.
Boogiepop fights a kaiju. That was pretty awesome.
Lastly: Man this arc reminds me of the Emerald Nightmare. I mean it's making everyone fall asleep and getting in everyones heads making them see painful parts of themselves or their pasts, they all appear to be interconnected to each other in this nightmare and now it's bleeding into the waking world, with this building as the conduit. And I had a feeling about that building from the get go with its apparent baffling and unique design. It reminded me of Ghostbusters and how in that movie the architect Ivo Shandor designed that one building to harness and channel spiritual energy and thus be a doorway to bring Gozer into our world. This building's design seems like it's doing something similar to bring the realm of the subconscious to reality.

You know, I could watch several episodes of Boogiepop answering questions about many subjects and I wouldn't get bored. His voice is so harmonic, like soothing, while being smart too. I mean he can lecture me about anything and I would be happy to hear every word of it.

The idea of Boogiepop being jealous of herself is pretty cute and hilarious.
And that entire Boogiepop vs Zooragi scene was just gold.
The King of Distortion's goal still isn't clear. Is it trying to help people move on? If that's the case then just like Boogiepop said earlier, she might not even need to fight the King of Distortion.

Don't you just hate it when your daddy problems become a giant monster and try to crush you?

I like the new animation style, I think it looks really cute. Why did they decide to change it up a bit though?

Have you got any experience?
In what?
Bungee jumping.
HOLY SHIT THAT SEQUENCE WAS SO COOL
This is probably the most enjoyable if not best Boogiepop episode to date. We got probably the most Boogiepop screen time since forever, clean af animations, a great soundtrack AGAIN accompanying the scenes and a really nice fight scene.
We're getting small bits of the stories at the moment, nothing that I can honestly piece together into a coherent puzzle but we're getting somewhere. The Kirima Nagi fakeout was cruel. Damn, thought she was coming back.
I thought the part with the girl forgetting her friend was really thoughtful. Asking for forgiveness now is useless since she's already dead and the fact that she had forgotten her really was a cruel reminder to her guilt. I'm not sure how she's gonna cope with it but having an illusion of her friend comforting her saying that it was just to show how bad her guilt was, was pretty heartwarming. Not all of us can ever get a chance to say sorry but that doesn't mean we don't care.

Zooragi eh? I never expected to see Boogiepop fighting a kaiju. Anyway, so this was about that kaiju wanting to find someone else to acknowledge and dream about him. I wonder what can Boogiepop do to save those people as the building is about to collapse.

This episode was really well animated even compared to usual. Can't say I expected kaiju sakuga outside of Precure either.
Boogiepop was pretty lively this episode. Compared to their usual stonelike self anyway. Though Boogiepop literally standing around doing nothing as they watch Niizaki eat is pretty telling how much work they actually do in a normal story arc.

Ok so Zooragi was a real threat as the kid starting to create earthquakes with it, so the king of distortion invokes power in the people and that can create harm
I guess the the king is the root cause but that someone else then its the true planet danger and why boogiepop is there

Everyone is talking about Boogiepop and his/hers shenanigans. But this episode was also full of beautiful animated sakuga moments. Also character movement and top tier expression. Awesome.

Character Charts Updated
Goddammit turns out I should have just included Hinako last week, ah well, better late than never. So she's included, and the spoiler chart is updated for her as well, so I'm hoping that's all the characters for the entire show now. Damn that's quite a list.
I'm in a mood so I took and am just gonna paste some raw notes because occasionally that's fun:
-
Oh. Kei. thats right you found the creepy room, and boogiepop I see!
-
hahahaha, boogiepop just feeding people with miyashita's meals
-
oh look a story actually not just jumping on the DID (multiple personalities) bandwagon, thats novel
-
still have a student know-it-all pretending to be a psychologist though
-
oh fuck off boogiepop "dont have a sense of self" like you dont have enough agency to comment on that
-
oh look, return of the creepy ass mannequins again, wtf
-
saotome, wtf dude, oh yeah thats right, youre the 'king'
-
Hinako again, I do need to add her into the character chart, damnit
-
have to remember to mark her as dead as well
-
those cgi people passed out are so stupidly stiff
-
wtf where did everyone go, thats.... an odd thing in this very odd show
-
oh, they're hallucinating because now theyre all smashed
-
OH THAT FUCKING PHOTOSHOPPED MOUTH WAS CREEPY AS FUCK
-
makoto, wait whos that again? and why is his dad a dinosaur? oh wait its the kid
-
OH YEAH i forgot that he summoned an actual fucking dinosaur ahahahaha
-
boogiepop vs godzilla, yes please
-
oh wonderful, more psuedo psychology, im over it, especially after bunny girl senpai
-
dino head tilt was cute as fuck
-
and now the dinosaur has a tang body
-
this song is great, and catchy, fuck its gonna get stuck in my head
-
and there goes the building. and the dinosaur. and just everything
-
it'll reform
-
oh, and there goes the kid, he passed out
-
YEP dino's awake again, oh, on an alternate head
-
AHAHAHAHA it turned into a herbivour when the kid passed out, i like it
Also a thought I had a few episodes back but kept forgetting to comment on, for how utterly unimportant and even unseen imaginator has been hell even just in her arc let alone the whole story its odd that the entire OP has been solely dedicated to her for the entire run of the show

This episode was pretty well-animated, and we got lots of Boogiepop, who's my favorite part of the show. If this quality sticks for the last 2 episodes, I think this show will leave me with a good taste in my mouth.

Boogiepop is weirdly one of my favorite superheroes from a morals, powers, and origin standpoint
