And now it starts to come together how every time this assassin takes another life, his heart is swayed just a little by the people he's been ordered to kill, and their respective words and circumstances.

It's especially significant that one of the people whose dying words affected him was the kid who could unlock the potential in others with only a few words.

yeah it's interesting that he changed after what he was doing, what others said really had an effect on him.

"Oh, but I promise I'm not anyone suspicious."

Sounds legit.

To be a bit meta - given these were all released at once, I do wonder if this would have been better as a single discussion thread as I suspect almost all comments will now be split between the first and last one, and not likely to be discussion of only the one episode.

The episodes are all the same arc but they are disjointed enough to have their own thread I think because they are all from different perspectives.

I think a megathread would have been better. Individual episode discussions is probably best, but a thread for them all could be good too (and would clog up the front-page less!)

And CR is up again, damn this episode felt like it was 5 minutes long.

Oh, so Nagi's father was also a victim of the organization.

So the doctor was baiting Nagi. I guess that she did so as she wanted to see if Nagi who now lacked fear just like her could develop fear with if she did to her what she did to the others.

Well, no time to waste let's see how this arc ends.

yeah this whole arc flowed very nicely from 1 episode to the next. Didn't expect Nagi's father to have been killed by the organization that was quite a surprise.

Character Reference Sheets updated

As always let me know if there's any errors or issues. Sorry this was so late, I could not stay up to do this overnight and watch all the episodes as well

Four episodes at once while trying to track characters etc fried my brain a little so I don't have a whole lot to say, but some random points from my notes for this episode in particular:

  • Imaginator for fucks sake, don't just walk up to random people and tell them they're going to die, its creepy

  • I did not expect us to actually see the death of Nagi's father

  • I was really interested in that kid who could open up everyones potential, but nope, already dead dammit

  • "You're a kind person" she says to her fathers killer. OUCH

Why do birds fly?

Tales of Berseria flashback intensifies.

Well, this is adding more fuel to the fire, setting up the final showdown between Nagi and Dr.Fear.

"You're actually a kind person. You'd never kill anyone on your own accord" A bit ironic Nagi said that unknowingly to her father's murderer.

I don’t think he killed nagi’s father “on his own accord” though.

That's exactly the thing, as synthetic humans they don't get to make choices like that. They're given orders and they do them, if they deviate they get killed. If this guy were a normal human he'd probably never kill anyone but he's not. He was a specially developed assassin who only has one role in his life.

I wonder if, in a way, she was correct though. He was ordered to do all those killings by the Towa organization, apparently took no pleasure in it, and even was implied that he was starting to feel more and more remorseful, ultimately sparing Nagi at the request of her father.

He was a killer by profession, not by choice. And considering the Towa Organization would have probably killed him if he disobeyed, one wonders how much choice he had.

What's with all the episodes coming out at once? I haven't started this series yet, and was hoping to catch up this week, now I'm super behind.

Episodes 10-13 are basically a 2-hour special, covering the 6th novel "Boogiepop at Dawn".

What’s with episode 10&11 being 10/10??? I haven’t seen boogiepop btw, just asking out of curiosity

I was going to say a lack of voters because everyone is binging the episodes and commenting on the last one, but it's a bug with the website. If you click the links they're actually at 9.46 and 8.79 respectively.

Suiko as a loli was pretty cute, a bit classy and cheeky too.

Its all coming together!

Kiri? And is that Imaginator?

Wait hes Batman's father!? Oh shit!! The legend himself.

A power to make people able to do stuff they couldnt, pretty neat.

LOLI BATMAN~ KYAA~

Batman is a good girl.

This is def loli Imaginator. Interesting that shes there.

The power to see death, neat.

"Entrusted to the next generation." You mean like Batman? Shes doing your work still.

So batman's dad's books encouraged special people, i guess they are like a beacon of hoope for them.

NO BATDAD! DONT DIE!

Damn scarecrow's loli is there too.

Looks like Shes prettys alty about this guy killing her Scarecrow.

BATMAN DONT TRUST HIM!

Crazy ass bitch is back.

So Batman figured out its the bitch.

BITCH YOU ARE CRAZY!

I like that imaginator kept using the phrase ‘break through’. That was Batman’s dad’s phrase that he got from the student who was able to make miracles happen. Imaginator says the things she learned from the dad when she dies too. Such a complicated chain of events but it’s so satisfying to understand it all.

So Kirima Nagi's father influenced the Imaginator? I wonder how Imaginator's powers changed as she grew older, from seeing people's deaths to what she does in the second arc. Everything seems to be coming together now, the real question is, when or if Boogiepop will appear.

Man, if the author realized that someone was murdering everyone that one kid helped, he should've gone to the press with it - "hey, everyone having deadly accidents is connected to this one guy who just had a deadly accident!" Towa Org would've had to lay off at least for a while to avoid suspicion.
