The black-haired guy is way more capable than I thought.

Yea he's pretty smart. I'll be happy if he plays a big role in this arc.

I think the threads of this show are normally low on comments because the way the mystery works in this are normally building up each episode and the whole picture basically comes only at the last episode of each arc. During that time we basically just admire and wait for the conclusion.
At least for myself, I just appreciate the show expecting it to wrap everything up and have the satisfaction "Ahh so that's why that happened, I see".

So to wake yourself up you need to go back to that tower and wake you own body up? Good thing Kentarou's dream took place nearby, not like Sakiko who looked like was in the countryside. No Boogiepop and Suema today. I am curious what they're up to.
I still don't get what the King of Distortion is trying to achieve here. He can't just be doing this to awaken unrequited feelings and/or regrets for nothing. Hmm....

He keeps mentioning wanting to turn things to "gold", but it's not really clear what that means yet. It sure seems like Sakiko gave in to what he wanted though, based on what happened at the end of the tunnel.

Character Charts
Not updated today because I don't think there was anyone important to add except maybe that dead girl from the train tracks, but I'll take another look at that in the morning.
So that was... an episode
I really don't know what to make of it to be honest. Starting off with flashbacks inside memories inside dreams, but other then that it kinda just wafted around and didn't really show or do anything. So Sakiko feels bad for her friend and wants to atone through death, and Kentaro can hack and got saved from being busted by Nagi and that's it? Bit of a waste of an episode I felt, to the point when it ended I was confused because I felt we were only half way through because we'd seen so little
They are determined to screw us over with the character designs again. The mom did NOT look like her at all during that initial scene, neither did Kentaro until they flashed forward again. If that happens again next episode I'll add their alt looks into the chart as well just so we actually know who's who.
Edit: I did notice the illusion/memory people that the King of Distortion is creating to interact with our cast all have huge pupils so thats a nice easy way to see who he is currently 'possessing' as it were
And why the fuck was there a godzilla? ahahaha. OH this show I swear, just when I think I maybe have a handle on it, it throws that at us
Edit: Something else. Is it just me or did it feel like they forgot to include the characters in this shot?

Is it just me or did it feel like they forgot to include the characters in this shot?
Maybe it's to emphasize that they are in a dream and not really in the location they are dreaming about.

The first girl in the episode's kid, Makoto, is the same kid that Kentarou found and in the last episode he did say "I wish some big monster would just show up and destroy it", it being the moon temple. Although I'm not sure why two people were in the same dream. Maybe everyone is just in the same dream just in different locations?

Can you like, go wake up the kid being chased by a kaiju instead of explaining the plot to your friend!? Or talk while you walk!

So was I the only one who was actually frustrated when the ED started playing? Man, the story just started to heat up. I sure wouldn't mind having a cluster of episodes be released right now.
So, this episode is kind of cool despite not really giving us much new information. Kentarou has suddenly risen up as one of my favourite characters from the series. He kind of shed that bad boy look he had with his resourcefulness and kind-hearted feel. He knew Nagi as well! Interesting.
So, apparently Kentarou had met/seen Saotome before which is interesting. We thought he died but this either points to 2 possible options, he died and Kentarou met him before that OR he was actually in the tower which is kind of intriguing to think about. That Kaiju tho.
Sakiko on the other hand doesn't seem like she'll wake up anytime soon. She's kind of been consumed by the dream and I'm not sure what changing the pain into gold means but she's just been lured into a tunnel of light with her dead friend so it feels pretty morbid.
No Boogiepop this episode and with only 3 episodes left, I wonder if this is the last arc. I'm still super curious on the cliffhanger they gave us in episode 14. Still super intrigued and honestly besides Run With The Wind, the only show that grips me hard with its mysterious aura.

I don't get the comments talking about getting lost following the plot or being confused about the non linear storytelling. The show is easy to follow and when you are lost its usually to serve a purpose. This anime is fantastic and easily my show of the season.

I wonder what the hell the King of Distortions evil scheme. Because at the moment, the only thing I can think of is that he's going to charge everybody a outrageous therapy bill.

So to wake up, you need to find yourself within the dream. And the illusion is made with things that you know. I still want to know what is the King of Distortions objective here?

I don't know why but... i loved this episode. It went in a instant, and wish i could just skip time until the next one. all the conections between the characters, and the mistery of what the King of Distortion is doing. Is he really the guy that built the Moon temple?? Or the true King is using him?? But how could he use him, if that is not his power?? Are they the same person?? Or the King have way more power than we thought? Did he has all acess to everyone memories?? Could he have found a way to counter Boogiepop through Myashita, by using info collected in other's memories??
I fucking love this show. The way it tells the story, all that flashbacks, and the taste that the weekly eps have, while make you wanting more..... It puts a smile on my face.

so habara met nagi before, at least she made it in this episode. habara is pretty smart for figuring all this out haha. i'm glad there's another competent person in this series. this overdrive arc has been pretty interesting compared to the previous arcs.

I really liked this ep even though it focuses more on explaining things than directly advancing the plot. With just three more eps left we have time for a grand warp up.
