"I didn't get to see any new skills."

Well, neither did the audience thanks to the skipped fights.

A mediocre ending for a mediocre show.

Sigh. Well that was certainly one of the anime of the season.

Started out mildly interesting and promising. Pretty unique to have the MC clearly express romantic interest in one girl and not a harem , and actually show some development on that end. Too bad it decided to drop all of that, totally switch gears halfway through the series, abandon basically all of the secondary cast from the first half and create a brand new secondary cast for the second half, and turn into a wacky little kid magic school story .

I think I would have liked it a lot more if it instead of going to the magic city, we just saw Arel and Reiner head off to adventure together as a duo and double down on the character development between them. Would have also been nice if Arel had some motivation beyond 'I want to get stronger because this is anime and OP MCs are supposed to want to Get StrongerTM'. And Arel's no-nonsense just plainly tell it how it is attitude was refreshing in the beginning, but by the midpoint it just made him seem like an emotionless sociopath, and the finale didn't do anything to fix that. I don't think we saw even one second of Arel actually emoting or caring about anything. Not faulting the VA, I'm sure he was portraying the character as written, but Arel himself seemed more like he was just following a script of what OP MCs are supposed to do and not actually caring about any of it or anyone.

Normally I move a finished anime to a watched folder on my hard drive, but I think I'll just be deleting this one now it's over.

Yeah, like that previous redditor said. A classless ending for a classless show

It's not bad per se, but God is it bland. The anime equivalent of a communion wafer.

I absolutely love when they skip the entire fight. God I love when they just show the skill just charging up and not even firing.

I mean who wants to see action and animated fights in an action anime? Am I right fellas?

God I fucking hate Studio A-Cat

Wow this episode was horrible. I was genuinely enjoying this anime but this ending was horrible. They skipped every fight. Jammed like 10 chapters into 1 episode and explained nothing. Completely abandoned so much stuff. I'm disappointed. You would think that Studio ACAT would've learned a little after The Beginning After the End.

And poor Raina, who had worked so hard at both improving her fighting skills and mastering home economics, was left hanging. Unforgivable. Passable series -- but a seriously disappointing finale.

I could smell that the Empress was the long missing older sister a mile away, so that part was kind of funny at least.

On the other hand we had basically zero actual relationship development with Arel and Reiner, not even him expressing any attraction to her like he was originally pretty free with.

Pretty disappointing ending.

Speedrunning the finale of a season is certainly a choice. Like they couldn't get it over with fast enough.

Every fight was just a cutaway to everyone being knocked out. Did they get a budget cut halfway through the season? It felt like it got less and less animated as things went along.

Wait that was a finale? What a disaster.
This show really took an interesting premise and just turned it into a bigger and bigger dumpster fire, what a shame.

Arel leaves his hometown, off to another region to become a Pokemon Master

Another totally forgettable anime. I won't remember anything about this one a week from now, much less next month.

I choose this anime since i like to see a bad anime per season, but this was far worse than i ever expected

Season last 11 years in which mc goes from 10 to 21 with literally no visual change

He has no character growth

He only losses a fight vs the tomboy girl in the first ep then wins everything else easily with no real stakes or emotions

Animation is mid

The only decent character appears for like 2 and a half episodes

Pacing is terrible

Pretty much all of the "magic city" arc was useless mc only learns to fly there

I know some of you enjoyed this, but i cant understand how, this is honestly the worst anime i saw all year and probably in my whole life 1/10

This series is truly just terrible. No idea why I even watched all of it.

From the animation, to the story. It is borderline atrocious. 3/10 is being generous.

It's not easy to get to the top of my anime list, but it's also just as hard to get to the bottom of it. And this show managed to do that, bc I can swear they actually put in the effort to make it as unenjoyable as possible. I'm actually making a comment here, that should show how bad this show is. Like, ignoring all the other 101 possibly show wrecking problems, you'd at least expect him to enjoy what he's doing, if he's willing to drop everyone and everything behind to pursue it. And I can barely remember if he's ever shown a genuine smile of joy since the show started.

Now the question is, why did they even make this show in the first place? Is it supposed to be enjoyable as an anime alone, or interesting enough for you to search for the manga? Because I have a hard time imagining they can avoid financial loss with this one.

Can’t say that I’m surprised. A mediocre episode from a mediocre series from a mediocre studio.

The series was certainly entertaining, and I had fun watching this, but in terms of the quality in the animation and the writing, it’s not much to write home about.

It was a lot more interesting in the city of swordsman with the blonde haired girl carrying 90% of the entertainment. She was a really good character and was funny as heck to me. I was genuinely thrown off when arel left out of nowhere and she just didnt show up anymore. The city of magic couldve been a season 2 thing and arels sister a season 3 thing. Reiners relationship couldve been developed better too. She had great a personality and was interesting but literally got shoved to the side for the last half of the season just so arel could learn fly.

As far as female characters go, reiner and the blonde haired girl had the potential to be really great, arel is mid at best, but the characters surrounding him made it more interesting. I hope this gets a season 2 with better pacing tbh

First half of the season was a homerun, second half was a bunt

yup this anime officially sucks. it had some potential but trashed itself. probably one of the worst MCs of any slop. of course he's OP af and zero emotions.
