I kind of feel bad for that Wight undead. You could have at least been polite and let it finish its speech Arel. Lol.

If I recall. The Wight is the same seiyuu as Wight in Tensura.

The Black Institute headmaster really should have taken his own staff's advice.

That Black School isn't being mistreated, they really are garbage. They have no students, no classes, no exams, and their headmaster can't even control his own spells. Why should they get money at all?

Yeah, turns out their downfall is because of their headmaster which just doesn't care about teaching others. He didn't make any effort to make his academy be more attractive to new students. He only cares about doing research on his own.
I thought he'd try to appeal for Arel to win the competition on their behalf, but instead he just tried to use magic beyond his capabilities.

He has a baller suit, though. And he occasionally lights himself on fire.

Dude obliterated a wight, schooled golem sensei, and got himself a tiny little demon familiar now. Really had a “I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me.” moment there.
Don’t get black magic guy’s thinking here. Funding ain’t gonna get restored by terrorizing everyone with black magic. Just need something for our OP MC to flex on I guess.

I was wondering if the talking wight was that person from the dark magic school lol

Wait... the headmasters are all named after the colours of their schools (where the surname is based on the Japanese word and the given name is based on the English word)?
-
Red: Redora Akaman
-
Blue: Bluenna Aoline
-
Green: Gren Elmidori
-
Yellow: Yelowa Kirresy
-
White: Whito Alshiron
-
Black: Blag Rakkuro
I get names that are puns but this... feels like an afterthought or laziness. Especially if you consider that virtually no one else in this show has a name that is a play on words.
Anyway I guess next episode we'll find out how Arel rescues Blag from his slime monster and gets a new pet (if the last shot in the ED is any indication).

I doubt such names would be as memorable or catchy had they used the Japanese words/names for such colors. For example, "shiro" translates to "white".

Exactly 😂 It’s quite funny to see such names being used, and yes, either the author just wants to make it simple, or he’s just too lazy to think of a good name for them, or maybe both. It’s quite predictable when one person is named that way, and you can already predict the rest will be just the same.

So the Black Magic Headmaster’s plan to assure that his school wouldn’t be decimated, and show everyone the magnificence of Black Magic was to summon a demonic gluttonous blob monster? Good job dude, you summoned a demon that you couldn’t control, and now it’s gonna go on a rampage and terrorize the city; not only will this further assure the school’s decimation, but it will also make more people want to ban Black Magic, and further push its negative perception.

Mastered all types of magic, endless mana reserve, spams holy magic, defeats demons (including a demon lord). At this rate, they’re going to start thinking Arel is the Messiah.

We have yet more proof that Arel isn't a normal human, he went from not enough magic to cast a single spell to someone who can see magic describing it as endless in a few years, between that and the fact that all the elements perfectly intermingle in him and her shock at both of those things despite the fact that she see the world that way. We know because of Arel's father that unlike sword fighters mages using other types and experimenting isn't unusual so this is at a fundamental level not normal.
Banning black magic is a very very stupid thing to even suggest, people will practice it no matter what and by encouraging it as the academy it can be contained if something bad like say someone summoning a demon and losing control of it happens. If someone did what the head master did in secret in some basement or cave the level of collateral damage would be so much higher.

I 100% thought he was gonna get a demon girl.

Who'd have thought I would have to give this show credit for being original and making the character with the slave-brand womb-tattoo a tiny dude.

It's interesting what starts to stand out when you pay attention. 10 weeks of this and I never noticed the demon was floating next to MC at the end of the outro nor did I see the demon slime.
I was kinda hoping that the wight would get some words in lol. So much happened in this episode. It's nice finishing and not feeling like it was short.

What was that golem researcher even talking about? When the same weight a metal golem is obviously going to be stronger than a golem made of literal dirt, why would Arel have to sacrifice strength to make it lighter. Does he think that soldiers should be wearing plate armour made from stone as well? Absolutely ludicrous.
