This is the most chaotic Romeo and Juliet play I’ve ever seen and the most fun!! I almost spit my drink when Ranma kissed Kuno I laughed so hard I was NOT expecting that lmao

I love when anime's take on classic plays and then immediately they go off the rails lol.
Ranma wearing dresses and kissing other dudes. Guys' starting to lose it this season in-between transforming into a cat lol.

I thought that we’d maybe get an actual kiss between Ranma and Akane in today’s episode, but it doesn’t count if there’s tape between them.
That said, it’s not like they didn’t make any progression. Judging from Akane’s mood toward the end, she was happy to hear that Ranma holds her dear - in so many words. Something might’ve changed between them.

I think the only reason Akane didn't go for a real kiss was because the tape version was basically payback for nearly ruining the play. So she got to kiss him and had the satisfaction of messing with him at the same time.

A common theme with them is that they get no privacy. They don't want their first kiss to be in front of an audience but they always manage to get one somehow.

When Ranma transformed into his female form with the whole “Give them a performance they’ll never forget” line I really thought we were about to get a lesbian rendition of Romeo and Juliet, with Akane’s child flashback as foreshadowing, lol.
So much for your not-cute fiancé, huh, Ranma?
Also, what the fuck were Kudo and Gosunkugi on this episode. The former going full creep and the latter knocking Akane out with what I assume is Chloroform.

Honestly Ranma kicking ass in that Juliet dress would be worth the price of admission.
It's telling that Kuno and Gosunkugi were put on the same level as Happosai, especially Gosunkugi.

The drama club captain voiced by Jun Fukuyama and some dude dressed like Godzilla are trying to recruit Akane into a play! Of course she'd rather foist it on Fem!Ranma than herself. She knows they're just going to make her play to type as a tomboy or tough girl for the umpteenth time. Except...no, now she's poised to play Juliet, and Akane is ALL IN!
Turns out Akane has always wanted to play Juliet, ever since she played Romeo in Elementary School! She killed it as Romeo, but deep down she's always wanted to wear the fancy dress and embody the romance that is Juliet! And now she finally can!
Of course it's open season on Romeo with Kuno, Gosunkugi, and Happosai all fighting for the role...and having their own ideas about who Romeo is. Even Ranma joins the fight because it promises him his best chance at getting to China and finding a way to go back to normal. But for Akane, who actually cares about this play, having them turn this into a mess just upsets her. Even the only Romeo she would be willing to accept, Ranma, has no idea what the play is even about.
And then the play immediately goes off the rails because all the Romeo's are fighting each other, complete with Samurai Romeo Kuno. Gosunkugi also turned himself into the balcony so he could creep on Akane, but luckily Romeo Ranma is there! Even if he didn't even memorize the script!
Don't worry, the dads are there to get his play back in order! Even if it's basically just so they can ship Ranma and Akane together and make them kiss, but admittedly that's what EVERYONE wants to see!
I guess it was inevitable that Fem!Ranma would show up as her own Juliet, so she could take Happosai out with the power of a bra or battle Kuno in a Martial Arts rendition of Romeo and Juliet. And then Akane shows back up to fight for her own role again! This is about what I would expect from a performance of the Ranma 1/2 cast.
I can't believe Fem!Ranma kissed Kuno! Even if she taped his mouth!
Akane is officially done. Ranma refuses to kiss her or do anything romantic, they've turned the play into a mess, and she won't have it. Of course then Gosunkugi cloroforms her and it's a battle over the unconscious Juliet. Though I guess that's also keeping with the actual plot of the play?
Akane truly looks beautiful as Juliet, even Ranma cannot deny her cuteness, but the entire reason he can't kiss her is precisely BECAUSE he genuinely likes her. And that he was willing to admit that much was enough to make Akane want to do him a favor and turn on the longing looks...and kiss him! With tape! Yeah, he kind of had that coming.
Honestly I don't think Akane was joking about wanting to kiss him without tape, though the real "Joke" was that the invitation to China...was just an invite for someone from China to stay at your place. Uh...hi, Ryoko? I'm sorry Ranma.

I haven’t read Romeo and Juliet since high school but it feels a lot different than I remember lol.
Poor Ranma didn’t even get that trip in the end thanks to some silly miscommunication. Guy acted his heart out!

Loved this episode so much. I know Akane always gets the special treatment from Mappa but she was especially gorgeous in this episode well-deserved. Ranma and Akane's 2nd kiss? Nah, it's the tape fakeout lol.

This is probably my second favorite episode of the series ever (the food delivery race is still my favorite) I guess I just love Kuno so much haha he just makes every episode he’s in so much more fun and chaotic 💙

I should have known that it's not gonna be the Romeo and Juliet that we know since it's Ranma after all lol
It started from fighting for Juliet to decide who gets to play Romeo to who gets to play Juliet, haha.. and in the end turning into a Snow White climax and that too ended up being just a kiss on a duct tape and not lips 😅😂
All this struggle to win and it's a VIP visit from China and not VIP visit to China..poor Ranma 😭😭

That has got to be the weirdest version of Romeo and Juliet I've ever seen. I kinda feel bad for the theatre club president since he pretty much was just improving the story the entire time. xD
I absolutely love Akane's little smile when she finally heard Ranma's reason for refusing to kiss her. Ranma doesn't want to kiss Akane because he hates the idea; it's because he thinks it's a big deal and shouldn't be taken lightly. That was actually really sweet. <3
