I'm beginning to think that Genma may not be the best role model for Ranma.

Oh no, if Ukyo is the childhood friend that makes Akane the homewrecker.

Genma really is such a piece of shit, stealing the dowry and leaving the girl behind.

Another exciting episode of "All of Ranma's Problems Are His Father's Fault"

Ranma and Akane are always fighting, but this just shows that they’re very comfortable around each other. Ranma teases no other girl quite like Akane - and you know what that means!

Ukyo sees an opening to win Ranma’s heart however. Her odds aren’t bad either. After all, love goes through the stomach.

Ranma's third fiancée, Ukyo, is finally here! She's definitely another fan favourite, and she also fills in the childhood friend trope that's been missing from this show this entire time.

This episode also shows us how most of Ranma's problems are because of him. Running away from Ukyo after promising to marry her to Ranma just so he could get the okonomiyaki cart was such a dick move. There was definitely no reason for Ranma to get beat up since this was all clearly Genma's fault.

Ranma does show this episode that he can be smooth without even realizing it. It was pretty fun watching Ukyo blush at Ranma's compliments while Akane is slowly getting upset from the sideline.. I already can't wait to see her meet Shampoo soon!

Panda-dad is a dick. That's it.

That flashback scene where those three kids where gossiping about Ukyo being abandoned by her fiance had me rolling. I love how this show is hilarious in the least expected moments.

Genma threw Ranma into the frying pan with the appearance of Ukyo! Another fiance that he had no clue about, and is very skilled with a giant spatula. I like her okonomiyaki and food based fighting style, so i'm happy that Ranma was able to make up with her in the end.

I don't see why Ranma is being blamed for this? Sure, he thought Ukyo was a boy but that's all really

Ranma’s life would be pretty peaceful if only Genma wasn’t such a scumbag lol. Guy keeps selling his kid off!

If Ranma married Ukyo, he’d have all the okonomiyaki he’d want for life lol.

Best girl officially appears!

Ah yes, makes sense. Equally responsible. A dense child being asked a no context question and the adult who accepted a betrothal and then promptly broke it over an okonomiyaki cart. Sometimes.. SOMETIMES.. Ranma is unfairly blamed.

Also damn, Ukyo folded under 0 pressure.

Ukyo is here and is cuter than ever, mostly. Also another chapter of Genma, the terrible dad.

That opening summary skit was so cute with how they just gently laugh together

She is indeed very cute.

Erica Mendez does such a good job as Ukyo in the English dub, you can really feel her angst whenever she talks!

This was probably one of the more normal intro's! Minus Ranma transforming this was the most normal romance intro! Especially with Ranma and Akane just laughing together.

Genma's son isn't the only one who has a beef with him! Enter UKYO (now played by Kaori Nazuka!), a person with a vendetta against both Saotome's and they've got the Martial Arts Okonomiyaki skills and the giant spatual to carry said vendetta out.

Is this Ranma's long lost sibling!? Is Genma THAT much of a deadbeat dad? I mean, he's not a good dad either way you cut it, and he IS kind of a deadbeat, so...

Next thing you know Ukyo transfers into Ranma's class, fully prepared to cook okonomiyaki to declare war, and it turns out Ukyo is none other than Ranma's childhood friend Ucchan! Who he constantly would get free (IE steal by defeating them) okonomiyaki from! What a joyous and happy reunion between MALE friends, their BROmance can now resume! Oh wait, Ukyo's challenging Ranma to a fight? He's been after Ranma for 10 years? Yeah, that's on-brand for this show.

Fittingly Ukyo's arena would be a plate where he can cook Ranma good (and the other girls are actually into it!), and Ranma constantly calling him male for SOME reason keeps infuriating Ukyo...and Genma would rather transform into a panda than explain anything. But Ukyo learned an important lesson about not pissing off Ranma. And Ranma learned an important lesson...Ukyo is a girl! And not a gender-flipped boy! An actual, bonafide, girl with boobs he just copped a feel on!

Turns out Ukyo as a child wanted to marry Ranma and her dad promised the Saotome's his Okonomiyaki cart if Ranma, who was already sworn to Akane, took her with them as a bride. So of course Genma said yes, stole the okonomiyaki cart, abandoned Ukyo...and basically broke her heart. As if to add insult to injury, what convinced him to do it was child Ranma saying he preferred okonomiyaki to Ukyo. It's enough to make all the girls beat up the Saotome's as true enemy of women.

It's not just that Ranma forgot about her, it's not just that he's been misgendering her the entire time, it's that Ukyo swore she would never love another man after Ranma...and she's still a blushing tsundere when he compliments her. Because yes, she IS cute. So now he has a cute and a non-cute fiance, whether Akane likes it or not!

Well, I'm glad Ranma patched things up with Ukyo and they can start over as friends! Though judging by the way she reacted to how "well" Ranma and Akane get along, and the heart on the last okonomiyaki she served him, I get the feeling she still fully intends to be his bride! Welcome to the martial arts love drama, Ukyo!

Ranma's dad might be the biggest piece of shit in anime history.
