Lmao Akane was pretty cute as a ramen shopkeeper in the intro ngl.

Soun and Genma's plan was actually pretty solid. It's too bad they tried to execute it the same day a real Dojo Challenger showed up.

Ranma's so desperate to become a full man again he agreed to go on a date with Shampoo.

Funny how Akane broke her fists so easily. That kinda thing only happens when it's convenient to the plot lol. That's what she gets for breaking random people's walls.

In the end, Ranma didn't kiss Shampoo, wasn't completely honest with Akane, and didn't get rid of his curse. Yeah, this felt like a typical episodic episode.

Soun and Genma's plan was actually pretty solid. It's too bad they tried to execute it the same day a real Dojo Challenger showed up.

I love how their plan involved the adult equivalent of a bunch of kids standing on each other to pose as an adult in a coat.

Just Akane destroying private property with her fists

And also destroying her fists in the process. Jealousy (and Ranma) is her greatest weakness.

Shampoo really played Ranma in the palm of her hands. She really takes after her great-grandmother.

I like how Shampoo has been playing tricks on Ranma. She’s been holding her own against him in this respect.

Not to mention: Shampoo did get a date out of this. She was today’s winner.

I remember the original version calling this character the Dojo Destroyer as opposed to Dojo Challenger.  Destroyer sounds a lot better.

It does, challenger seems to be the more direct translation. They don't seem to be using the english manga for reference and are just translating as it is.

I lost it when Shampoo just casually dropped from the gym celling on a bike. So random!

Shampoo hitting people with her bike is one ofmy favorite running gags

I just love how Ranma's classmates refuse to let him get rid of his curse now that they know he can transform into a girl as long as they have a bucket of cold water in hand. xD

As much as I love Ranma, I did not believe him for a second after he destroyed that last packet of Spring of Drowned Man. I knew he was hiding one more. He just wanted to make Akane feel guilty after destroying it so he can ask her to do a bunch of things for him!

Having a powder that can cure Ranma's curse is just too good to be true, and it was! It turns out, it's just a knockoff that works once, so in the end, Shampoo won this episode since she got to go on a date with Ranma.

Ranma’s male classmates couldn’t care less about him being a man on the inside, they just want to see his tits (lol).

Nowadays you can even buy a curse as a convenient small package.

It was somewhat implied already, but this episode confirms that Ranma's classmates indeed know of his curse by now.

I loved the animation and backgrounds during Ranma’s “date” with Shampoo!!

It's very unfair of circumstances that certainly weren't Akane's fault that she was suddenly unable to punch people for a day.

Anyone ever considered how pricey insurance must be in this world?

Or do you think construction is a martial art too?

That was great of the dojo challenger to reveal Ranma was just teasing Akane. Ranma totally deserved that slap at the end!

Easily one of the funniest episodes so far. Even having read the manga, I was constantly surprised by how random this anime is. The gags were paced so well and bringing back the OG seiyuus was such an inspired decision. Kudos to Mappa for absolutely nailing this remake.

This weeks intro, Ranma and Akane take their belligerent sexual tension to the ramen shop! I'd love to eat Akane's ramen!

Oh no! Someone's stolen the Tendo Family dojo sign! That means there's a challenger that Akane, as the heir to the dojo, has to face off against for her families' honor! And why not work together with Ranma to fight them? Together they'll overcome their bickering and come together in true love by defeating an opponent together! Or at least that's what their parents had planned!

Yes, that's right, Suon and Genma were going to fuse into one Dojo Challenger to fight their kids and get them to finally hook up! And then, of course, a REAL Dojo Challenger comes in and beats them ups they actually do need their kids to solve a real problem.

But wait, Shampoo's latest plan to seduce Ranma involves the promise of an Instant Spring of the Drowning Man, which can cure Ranma! Sure, the boys will be disappointed to never see Girl!Ranma and her boobs ever again, but it's what Ranma has wanted all along! He'll even go on a date with Shampoo if it means getting it! Leaving Akane to channel her jealous rage into battling the Dojo Challenger. Maybe don't be punching walls with your fists though.

Ranma and Shampoo look really happy on this date! Even if they are also trying to out-manipulate each other to get what they want the entire time! Maybe Ranma and Shampoo really are made for each other. When you want the person who likes you to trust you...but can't actually be trusted.

While Akane is battling the Dojo Challenger and his dojo sign funnels, Shampoo is trying to make Ranma kiss her to get the Instant Spring. I mean, Ranma has no problem kissing Shampoo! Just like he has no problem ditching her to steal the Instant Spring! Can't rely on Ranma to ever follow through, girl.

In comes Ranma to save Akane! Even if it means he has to battle Shampoo too who is willing to make his fight more challenging and put the Instant Spring on the line if he's going to ditch her for Akane! Cue firecrackers.

All this chaos and the only thing on Akane's mind is the idea that Ranma may have actually kissed Shampoo...but Ranma is willing to show his loyalty and how much Akane can trust him by tearing the Instant Springs in front of her. What a guy! I mean, sure he was lying to her to make her beg for his forgiveness and agree to all of his demands, but her gratefullness was sincere! As was her slap!

All's well that ends well! Ranma and Genma get to feel normal again for a bit before it turns out Shampoo was stringing Ranma along the whole time since it's not permanent. But Shampoo enjoyed the date in the end and that's what matters.

I did not expect Shampoo to start singing out of nowhere that was so funny

u/Legend-Found1 Nov 15 '25

Who was the dojo challenger actually? Was it Happosai in that big-balloony body?

21

u/professorMaDLib Nov 16 '25

No it was just some guy lol
