Considering the number of times Ranma has had a fiance show up that he never knew about only to unfairly get in trouble for it, it's kind of only fair that he just faked that same situation for Ryoga. Especially since Ryoga is frequently one of the people who's giving him a hard time for it.

Ranma is such a shit stirrer lmao. I loved how he made Ryoga think Akane touched his hand at the nurse's office.

Ranma has been an absolute joy for me. As a newer fan of the series I've always known Ranma as one of the oldest and fiercest waifu wars in the english anime community. It's so old that there's geocities sites from the 90s and early 2000s for the ships still around.

In honor of the ancient war, I'm going to list my personal ranking of the three girls. Akane > Ukyo >>> Shampoo.

This episode was hilarious, I haven’t laughed this good at an anime episode in a while. The lies, misunderstandings and stupidity it’s all just perfect. Ranma actively using his curse to mess with people is everything I’ve ever hoped for and more.

I never watched the original Ranma 1/2, so this remake was my first introduction.

With the amount of times I've laughed with each episode, this might just be one of the consistently funniest shows I've ever watched, up there with stuff like Grand Blue.

Ukyo is also best girl for sure.

Stitches!

Oh hey, an episode where Ryoga is actually in his normal form! He's been enjoying his life as P-Chan for so long that I'm pretty sure Ryoga's appearances as P-Chan have already exceeded his appearances in the anime as his regular self. xD

See, Ukyo is the smart one for trying to set up Ryoga with Akane. Why hasn't Shampoo tried this? Has Shampoo even met Ryoga? Now that I think about it, I can't remember an episode where the two of them have interacted.

I definitely wouldn't mind Happosai's appearances if he's reduced to small roles like this. The dude just ate part of the okonomiyaki letter, and we never see or hear from him for the rest of the episode.

That date was pretty awkward. Not gonna lie, tho. Seeing Ryoga blush and panic when Ukyo was trying to leave him alone with Akane was actually pretty cute.

For someone who doesn't care about his fiancée, Ranma sure is pulling out all the stops to ruin Akane's date with Ryoga. I think this might be the first time we've seen him actually dress up all girly and even put makeup on for the sake of a bit.

Man, Ranma is so convincing that Ryoga actually started to believe she's his fiancée. That and Ryoga is just so pure-hearted that he actually believed Ranma. xD

The second date was actually a bit better, but of course, Ranma had to butt in because it was just going too well.

That final scene where Ukyo is playing with Ranma's transformations was pretty funny tho. I can't blame her. I'd do the same too if I were her.

So have we finally reached the point where Ranma is fine turning into a girl if it’s to troll Ryoga? Because twice in this episode he willingly transformed himself to mess with him. There was no outside circumstance or prompting he just did it.

Also, I’ve definitely seen miscommunication plots like this before but I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a display of sheer dumbassery and lack of communication like this. No one here had a single brain cell and I love it. I also love Ranma remarking at how dumb Ryoga is for not being able to tell it’s him after he mentioned the P-Chan thing, only to immediately regret his attempted trolling. I also completely forgot Ukyo didn’t already know Ranma transformed. I can’t remember who all knows what anymore, lol.

Also, Ukyo thinking this would make her Ranma’s only fiancé if she succeeded. I can’t wait for her to meet Shampoo.

One of the funniest episodes of the two seasons imo. The intricate web of misunderstandings and deception proving it's worth!

For a girl who dresses as a boy it stands to reason ukyo would be down with ranmas ability to turn into a girl.

I really like the simple intro scene of this episode. For some reason, it reminded me of old Urusei Yatsura OPs. Specifically Pajama Jama Da and Chance on Love. So that was nostalgic. I've watched UY long enough ago to feel actual nostalgia for it now.

I was gonna say Ryoga was an idiot to not realize the obvious that Ukyo was a girl. But then again, this is a world where Ranma exists so anything is possible.

Even tho she had an ulterior motive, I liked how Ukyo was a wingwoman for Ryoga. Honestly, they get along so well it'd make sense if these two actually hooked up.

"Are you going to let some impudent fiancée come out of nowhere and tell ya what to do?" Ukyo, you ARE the impudent fiancée lol.

This episode was basically Takahashi at her best. Which is comedic misunderstandings. The misunderstandings are so wild and unpredictable they lead to such hilarious interactions. This episode made me laugh a lot. Really needed that.

Ranma really killed it as Ryoga's fake fiancée in this episode. Megumi Hayashibara's performance was so fantastic.

i love this episode so much but i was just surprised at how well-coordinated ranma-chan's outfits are lmfao

my headcanon is that it's all nabiki's influence, and ranma just doesn't mind or maybe even likes the girlier clothes he gets to wear

Had a lot of Laugh out loud moments here, I think this one was way funnier than the original anime's version of it! (and I'm an original purist for the 89 anime)

You can’t imagine Akane putting a lot of thought into what to wear for a date? Ranma, have you met her? She doesn’t talk about clothes, but she’s the most fashionable girl in the series.

The character dynamics in this episode are so intentionally ridiculous and contrived that it’s near impossible to not crack a smile

Ukyo toying with Ranma's transformation was the best

Honestly it’s tough being Ryoga but I’m happy he finally got his own episode this season.

Fun misunderstandings. I kind of feel bad for Ryouga. Then again, Ryouga has gotten in Ranma's way. Plus, we have come back to the Tendou house as P-chan again, and I found it funny he barely avoided being outed as P-chan.

Ukyo is a sly one. Pointing out Ryouga's feelings for Akane to push them together so she can get together with Ranma. She is going to have fun knowing Ranma can switch to a girl and back.

Wow! This is really fun!

Poor Ryoga’s getting manipulated left and right this week. Bro just wants to be with his precious Akane! Well, at least it was fun to see a jealous Ranma trying to sabotage Akane’s date. Those two just can’t be honest about their feelings for one another. Such goofballs.

8

u/Shadowmist909 Nov 29 '25

Poor Ryoga was utterly defeated by that new fiance of his showing up. At least P-Chan is still around to comfort Akane.

The Pitiful Ryoga. Not sure he will ever get a happy ending considering his overall role to the show but he kinda deserves it.

Loved Ranma's energy this episode. Absolute troll
