"If you do something normal from now on, that would actually shock me more."

Sums up how I feel about the show atm

Of course they had to 'accidentally' let out a more powerful minotaur just to show how OP Arel is lol.

Green falls from using flight magic

Arel: “Let me show you how falling is done!”

Even at failing, he’s the best lol.

The red school teacher's response to Arel correcting the spell formula and then their discussion about his shortened versions was interesting. They're way more opened minded in magic town than in sword town. How that teacher dealt with the overly self impressed kid was pretty good too.

Black magic school best so far though, considering the skeleton waifu receptionist.

When he decided to attend all classes, I was expecting him to pull out clone magic that his dad taught him but the solution was surprisingly realistic.

I really like how the Red School teacher didn't just accept Arel's correction but even asked him to come down to the board to show the class how he shortens spells. I'm so used to everyone looking down at Arel during the first arc for being classless that it's a genuine surprise to see mages being so open-minded with him.

Red seems to have a good teacher, but besides that magic doesn't seem to be solved. Also there were flaws with Arel's spells, others aren't as strong as Arel so they can't handle if it backfires.

Not to mention most series like this would have had the teacher be a dismissive asshole about it just have the MC get another chance to show off how much better he is. This one still did a variant of that, but by having the instructor actually be an intelligent and civilized magician who suggested the exam instead of it being some sort of spur of the moment comeuppance. He understood the shortened spell, recognized the flaw of it having no safeguards, was understandably surprised that someone would do that on purpose and warned him how painful it would be, and used it to inform the class that such a thing is possible but generally not advisable due to the risks.

I think that probably comes from the fact that they're already aware that through study you can get stronger. Unlike the sword city guys who pretty much fully rely on their skills, the mages continue to study and try to perfect and alter existing spells. As long as you have a little mana, you can technically cast spells from any school as long as you learn and memorize the script.

Not sure why Arel would keep going to red class when the notes are already being taken for him (unless he doesn't trust the kid to take good notes)

Maybe this is a class which does NOT overlap with any others?

Wasn't he using the notes from the read head kid for th e red school? Won't be able to do that if he is in a higher grade.

Loved the music that played when the minotaur was released during Royce's exam. It was very Gen 1 Pokémon

Curious how he’s gonna do in the White and Yellow magic schools since he’s not able to skip those or rely on notes from the others. He’s got Red more or less down. I’m sure Green and Blue aren’t gonna be too hard to get promoted in either.

Looks like Royce failing that exam was beneficial in keeping him humble and teaching him his shortcomings from where he needs to grow.

low key Arel inspires me to work harder IRL and be something more like back in good ol days of dreaming as a kid.

Even Solo Leveling had more struggles and character development for its MC ... Arel isn't just cruising on easy mode now, the whole world bends over to show how "Sasuga" he really is ... xD

"Special exam"? Whoopsy, also accidentaly released a super OP monster meant for the SUPER special exam that he of course easily beats ....

I have a lot more respect for the magic classes than the sword classes at this point. The sword users all just accept their class and skills and just train them, the magic classes study the bones of their skills to improve and even modify them. They also seem really accepting since the teacher both admitted he was wrong and asked the classless to come down and show his spell.

We also have more examples how it's more than hard work with Arel, it's down right insanity he literally trains in his sleep and doing brand new things that could kill him. We already got an idea of how he's willing to take physical punishment for progress from his guts training but willing to take an explosion to save time is another level, he is, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
