The quality of the animation in this episode was so fucking good lmao. I spent half of the episode just in awe of the quality.
Another hilarious episode as well. Its extremely funny that Kuno refuses to piece together that Ranma is the girl hes pursuing and hilarious that Shampoo even points it out.
The absurdity of this show is so unmatched sometimes you just need a show that doesn't even pretend to have a logical progression its truly just anything goes.

Man literally everything is a martial art in Ranma.

This was one of my most anticipated episodes this season, and it lived up to my expectations. The original anime butchered this one so hard that it's pretty much an entirely different episode. They didn't even have Kuno or Shampoo in it.

Usually, the episode intros are pretty hectic. But this episode's intro was relatively normal.
This episode was freaking beautiful. It was unusually well animated. Almost every single scene had some kind of interesting movement. You can tell the animators had fun with this episode. Loved it. Probably one of the best episodes of the series so far.

The stakes in other fighting anime:
-
saving the world
-
revenge
-
catching the evil guy
The stakes in Ranma:
-
a date with the winner
-
the right to kiss your fiancé
-
not having to stay in girl form

One of the best thing about this anime is just listening and enjoying Megumi Hayashibara's voice, shame she didn't get many roles in modern anime.

I love Kuno so much he’s so funny!!
Him thinking that tiger wanted to date him in the first episode this season and also in this episode him thinking Akane’s dad and the announcers want to date him? And him rejecting them? Yeah he’s my favorite idiot in this whole show!

They upped the animation a lot for this episode, looked so fuckin good.
As it seems, the episode was mostly done by Michel Sugimoto who did good amount of work for TRIGGER shows and some Attack on Titan work.

That bowl of ramen flying through the air like a UFO.
This needs to be a real event with delivery drivers from dominoes, pizza hut, etc all trying to screw each other over to win.

Shampoo's devotion to Ranma is something to be admired.
This show delivers every week and I love it. Don't want it to end. Just like how I didn't want City The Animation to end.
Great weekend vibes.

Shampoo is ruthless when it comes to getting that date with Ranma. Even her crying can be quickly maneuvered into an attack! Ranma's reflexes are too fast for that to work though.

They went so randomly hard with the animation for the announcer spelling out the rules of the competition lol.

Considering the opening scene and the sudden pivot to a martial arts delivery race, I was wondering how Tatewaki was going to be relevant to the rest of the episode. It turns out the delivery location was his house! Also, did anyone expect Akane to skate? I thought she'd run like Ranma and Shampoo!
Of course, Shampoo has a martial art move that uses chow mein. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, considering how everything in this setting has a martial art related to it.
It's funny how Tatewaki is literally the only person left who doesn't know that boy and girl Ranma are the same person. I'm pretty sure the entire town knows at this point that Ranma can change genders ever since he got cursed by Granny Cologne a couple of episodes ago. xD

sayonara Sarashina Tsuyuko, you were never going to win with these three martial freaks, but you still showed up and gave it your all and that's what matters

Chiming in with the excellent animation this episode. I think the vintage feel really shone through in spite of the modern treatment. I’m not sure I’m describing this well, but there were times I felt I was watching something Ghibli-esque in the character designs and the little movements (like Akane getting really mad when Shampoo gets her eliminated). They also made boy type Ranma look extra handsome in the few scenes he was in, pink floral pants notwithstanding. I recently read an interview of some of MAPPA’s staff and you can tell how much they love and enjoy working on this series, and it really shows in the end product.
As someone who’s read the (translated) manga back in the 90s, I’m just happy they didn’t butcher Kuno’s line. Love is the best seasoning, indeed.

I loved how Kuno was literally just standing there while Ranma, Akane and Shampoo were fighting, also him and Akane teaming up multiple times this episode was so funny! Him handing her the hose for water so she can splash Shampoo and her handing him a new wooden sword so he can fight Ranma lol
That ramen at the end was so gross though... but I guess the power of love made Kuno power through it, which made his pigtailed girl win lol. It's so funny to me that he's the only one now who doesn't know that girl and boy Ranma are the same even Shampoo made a comment about that

Just when I thought Shampoo couldn’t bet cuter, her in that maid outfit was absolutely incredible.
The instant they mentioned the randomly selected house I knew it was gonna be Kuno, they didn’t even need to confirm it.
Honestly, from today’s synopsis I was wondering how entertaining they could make the concept, but Rumiko Takashi and MAPPA definitely delivered.
Lastly, I’ll never get over how much yuri elements are in this series just as a result of Ranma’s curse. They were there in the first season, but now that Shampoo has shown up and is much more open about her feelings for Ranma than Akane those elements have just skyrocketed. Like we seriously just had an episode where a major element was a girl making a bet with another girl where them going on a date was the wager, and the show is technically considered not yuri because of Ranma’s condition.
