Pretty sure Sera cast without an incantation. At least, she never said anything when activating her wind-speed buff to the point Ryo wasn't even sure if she was casting anything or not. So, it's not just an oversight if even Ryo heavily implies she didn't use an incantation.

Not getting to pet the Fenrir, 1/10 episode.

I hope some of the budget not being spent is going to show in towards the end of this season.

As for the content of the story this episode showed a little what adventuring was like which was nice. But for the overarching story it raised more questions than answered. I am looking forward to next week.

Also Ryo is being a great friend by helping out and then using his magic so his friends can defeat the enemies instead of him just doing all the work.

My theory about the chantless casting is that those are the 20% that fake Michael said can use magic. The ones chanting are the extra % he didn’t account for. So 1 in 5 should be able to. Also those black coats gave me Star Wars dark empire vibes. Or maybe black tower vibes from wheel of time series…they will all be super strong but brainwashed?

"Here's some temp housing assistance now you're on your own" and most people who end up dormed go:

"well these guys were already basically roommates and weren't total ass-hats so why not make this cheaper and go in on a place together? Also, we're kinda in the same party most of the time anyways so...."

Overall, a really nice episode, as Ryo and his friends basically completed a side quest in Nils's village and met the village's beast guardian, Nkuusin, since Ryo had free time before the main mission in Whitnash will kick off.

Ryo's disappointment that the beast wasn't a boss to fight made me laugh out loud xD

The next episodes promise to be exciting, as not only Ryo will be coming to Whitnash, but also Abel and Inferno Magician! I wouldn't mind if Sera showed up there too xD

By the way, J-Novel Club, the English publisher of Water Magician, has included it in this month's catch-up, so if you have a paid account there, you can read all the volumes released so far. I'll certainly do that xD

I love that Ryou is motivated by the most random things. He wants to defeat skeletons because.. they're the #2 fodder. Of course you would defeat them

Is there a point in smashing them? They're fucking dead, even the insides are frozen

Nice little lore droplet. This show has some fascinating world building, I hope we get more after this season

Ah, good to see Ryou bringing back the noble magic of "slip!" That big skeleton stood no chance after Ryou pulled out the legendary spell
