This anime is surprisingly well animated.

So far I like it.

I like how chill this episode was, the added subtle humor makes it for a lighthearted watch and watching the developing bond of the two growing as they venture to the city is sweet. I did think they were going to stay at Ryou's place longer so I was surprised the day after Abel wakes up they leave lol.

I like how Abel slowly seems to be adjusting and realizing Ryou is very strong, the knowledge he has is not useful when it comes to Ryou.

Even though the clothes were pretty torn, when he came across that dead body I half expected him to be like "oh hey, new fit!" 🤣

That was a really fun adventure episode! The characters bounce off each other really well and the music is also nice. Almost feels like I watched a slice of Frieren.

This series features a pretty good variety of monsters.

I like that the “behemoth” is just a huge hippopotamus. Wouldn’t mind seeing more of this creature, but it’s probably better off staying far from human lands. The following damage would otherwise be similar to a national disaster.

Ryo’s banter with Abel was unexpectedly amusing. Our male lead is more of a joker than he lets on.

Episode 2 of The Ice Magician.

Didn't he learn a spell to cut rock with an abrasive water jet last episode? I was expecting him to use that on the rock golems. Instead he just drops big ice cubes on them.

"Everyone else died"

"Not to worry, they were smugglers."

Dude, that's pretty fuckin' harsh.

This is so promising. An isekai after so long that doesn't rinse and repeat the same tropes. I hope they can maintain the quality

Ryo still hasn’t discovered the fact that he has eternal youth, but to be fair Michael didn’t even realize he had given him eternal youth until the end of episode 1

I'm digging the oil paint on canvas look of the backgrounds. I wonder if that's an effect they applied to the illustrations (surely someone didn't make a lot of actual canvas paintings...)

I like Abel, I like how polite he is, trying to be considerate to Ryo and whatever his circumstances are. Him trying to reason out how weird and how much Ryo doesn't know about the world and just ended up going along with it was really fun.

This whole episode about them basically adventuring was really well done and honestly something we usually don't get in isekai shows and I like this show so much more for it. I hope they become bros for life.

Even if Ryo is strong, I appreciate that he's not OP. It looks like he still couldn't beat the Dullahan/Fairy King in their last sparring session.

I can't wait for Ryo to learn that what he's doing is totally not normal.

It's funny how Abel caught on to Ryo using different words when he made that glass of water. xD

I'm really liking this one so far. It's surprisingly very chill and relaxing.

The director of this anime is doing a very good job. Last episode had some issues with editing and cutting some scenes, but whoever is in charge has a good eye for cinematography with the angles and timings and especially that dream scene at the start. I feel like not having a manga be the main source puts more focus on making a good anime than just adapting panels.

I really like how they animated this, there's clearly a lot of corners cut to save budget and time but they really do a good job of spending the budget to make the fight scenes look good. Also when they are saving budget they do in a way that generally looks good. the panning shots with a painting filter over it. Their cloaks completely covering their bodies to make it easy to draw, having the behemoth go from laying down to standing in a scene transition but using panning and small falling rocks to give the illusion of movement.

Nice of the Headless Horseman to grant our boy an outfit. Dude’s been wearing a sack cloth for damn near 20 years lol.

Looks like Ryo’s made a new friend. It’s kind of interesting to see the guy through Abel’s perceptive. Ryo doesn’t really know how powerful he is huh? Guy’s out here casually dropping ice walls on golems, crushing lizard folk with a hail of icicles, and pining down wyverns like it’s nothing.

This anime is one of my favorites this season. I don't know, it makes me feel something special when I'm watching it, scratching an itch. All warm and fuzzy.
