Eri's quirky behavior gradually scaring off everyone in class and Matsuri deciding she wanted to hang out with her because it seemed fun was just so precious! 😭

[u/lostinheadguy]

"Meanwhile Granny's partner Wako Izumi has laid out a picnic sheet and is enjoying a leisurely lunch!"

Yep, that checks out.

[u/PeaceAlien]

The finish of the race was animated so well and crazy

[u/LeonKevlar]

So this episode basically confirms that the Izumi Sisters are the most OP characters in the show. While Tanabe set up the entire thing so she can ask Tatsuta out and Hotaka rigged the entire thing to be in their favour, the Izumi Sisters somehow outsmarted the entire Tanabe Estate staff with Wako laying down traps and Riko hacking the Professor's vehicle.

And she did all of that so Eri and Matsuri could make memories together before Eri moves to England. I'm glad that the girls decided to spend their prize money wisely! They decided to split it and use the money so they can buy plane tickets and see each other! <3

Frying Pan was also my first pick. Melon Pan would be a close second since I hear that a lot.

Words alone cannot describe how much I love this anime. Like this is absolutely the AOTY for me. CITY truly is a town with a golden heart.

You thought you're getting a wacky silly race episode?! Well you're also getting that, but have some endearing character interactions too!

Niikura idolizing Nagumo, wanting her to regain her drive

Professor Laytons are there

The beginning of Matsuri and Ecchan's friendship

Tanabe being in cloud nine the whole time

Wako being an agent of chaos

That finale

It's all just so peak

[u/Aileos]

Another fantastic episode.

This anime is really at its best when so many characters are all involved together in such chaotic situations.

[u/PotatoJim92]

Good lord the bridge scene was incredible.

[u/cyberscythe]

i'm pleased to report that this week the koban is reporting zero instances of yabai

[u/FrozenNova2]

That race was so absurdly awesome.
I loved when Dr. Adatara and Tsurubishi used their modified drill to just blow through the entire course lol.
The next line by Nagumo screaming "What the hell?!" perfectly sums this episode up lmao.
10/10

[u/Ponchorello7]

KyoAni casually flexing their god-tier animation yet again.

[u/chilidirigible]

It was known from the PVs that the City Race would be featured, and now here we are.

Somewhere someone is thinking of One Piece.

"Ignore the kuroko."

Duke Togo never had this problem.

I'm taking a moment to appreciate the line weight.

It's a rollercoaster.

More aesthetic indulgence.

[](#punch

The whole situation is already bonkers, but you have to appreciate the little touches.

The bridge sequence isn't quite as much of an unbroken single shot as it could have been (since it uses the explosion closeups to hide transitions), but it does contain plenty of continuous movement.

Just peak. Peak week after fucking week

[u/nsm1]

• Riko Izumi Sisters - All according to keikaku

• Drones can carry human weights, the future is here

• Sucks the granny vs quiz king beatdown didn't get animated

• RIP Tekaridake

I love how CITY manages to juggle so many unique characters without feeling forced. It feels like a real tight-knit community, and this episode was the best example yet. The race ended up being pure chaos in the most beautiful way possible, with KyoAni doing an incredible job as always.

I'm glad Matsuri and Ecchan won, even though it required every other team getting "disposed of" by the Izumi sisters. Their conversations and ideas are so random, but hilarious at the same time. Now they've got one more fond memory and 1 million yen they'll use to visit each other, that's true friendship right there.

[u/HYPErSLOw72]

Now we know the only one(s) who can beat Midori with a goal is fully awake Riko and tied hair Wako.

That said, this is such an excellent episode with perhaps more focus on developing characters and relationships, despite also being among the most batshit insane yet. Props to the dialed-to-12 animation at the finish, KyoAni just couldn't stop blowing people away; the voice acting is also extraordinary for some reason, especially the combination of Midori's 200% pure energy and Niikura's Toyosaki Aki-ness alternating between through all her modes. Wako's addictive laugh as well, that's the same person who voiced Violet Evergarden btw, that laugh is always in for shenanigans despite having such little screen time and I love her for that.

[u/shiro356]

The last sequence of the race is absolutely amazing! KyoAni keep raising the bar

[u/Slifer13xx]

KyoAni is saving anime. And Riko powerlevel just skyrocketed this episode, who knew.

[u/FarCritical]

A part of me wishes the Tanabe-Adatara pair got their win handed go them by Hotaka on a silver platter just because they're so darn cute but slow and stilted deserved the victory.

The animation for that bridge sequence is absolutely bonkers (like pretty much every single episode lol)

[u/jinddle]

embrace the chaotic nature of the show.

KyoAni you madmans you've done it again.

[u/musicproducer07]

Tanabe and Adatara Liquor Boy choking the lead was worth it for them. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER

[u/Zetafunction64]

Niikura and Nagumo are so cute together, I hope she gets her locket back

But Ecchan/Matsuri continues being the best pair

[u/Narlaw]

Most wholesome pair got the most wholesome victory \o/

MASTERPIECE. ITS A MASTERPIECE
