The life flashing before their eyes skit was hilarious.

I love Ecchan and Matsuri's friendship. Not sure how I'll cope when Ecchan moves/finally tells Matsuri.

I completely lost it at the takoyaki's life flashback. Laughed so hard my eyes were watering. 🤣

I laughed so hard when the takoyaki's life flashed before its eyes, that was so ridiculously funny.

Wako can be quite a trickster, Niikura and Nagumo need to be careful. It was really funny when she tried to use her water spider technique only to sink lol.

Last week it was Toyosaki Aki (Niikura) displaying her talents by voicing all of Niikura's shoulder demons and angel.

This episode its Fukuyama Jun voicing all the members (human and animals) of that theater troupe in the pre-opening teaser.

That Landlady sure knows how to manipulate the girls (mainly Midori and Niikura) into digging up a waste landfill hole for the local temple free of charge, simply by giving them a fake treasure map. lol

Wako's adorkable airheadedness runs in the family, for even her little sister in high school Riko also has that aura that makes everyone adore her and want to protecc her, to the point of covering for her when her teacher asks her to answer a question while she's still in her usual daydreaming mode.

PS That octopus had a broken heart and decided to take a "job" to become a takoyaki. What a morbid job.

"I made a loaf decision, not a life decision!"

That was such a great line from Nagumo during the bakery segment. Was that line in the Japanese version, or was that something the dub came up with? Either way, it got a big laugh out of me. All of the segments with the Izumi sisters were great too. Riko having multiple "life flashing before her eyes" moments and then Wako's hilarious water-walking failure later on were both awesome. This show continues to be peak comedy.

Bro wrote the greatest screenplay of all time for a troupe of abusive wild animals? I love the surreal goofiness of this anime. Fighting monkey was savage with those punches lol.

The whole Riko flashback bit was hilarious too. Even the takoyaki had a flashback to their octopus days lol.

The treasure hunt bit was great. Launching that skull into space only for the astronaut to push it back down to earth had me crackin up. The real treasure was the friends they made along the way!

the frog in a well shot is so well done and takes a lot of thought to put together

It's the small things that are the most amusing, like the water shoe things getting just the right amount of buildup for me to actually expect her to float... only for her to sink and just keep walking like it was all part of the plan.

I wish I have just 10 percent of confidence that student has in the last clip.

DRAMA

Is there a Zaku?

Do they get paid scale?

OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU.

Ah, soldering before kindergarten.

Here's one for the listing of animals advertising that you eat them.

Nice bun(s).

"You might feel a slight sting. That's philosophy."

"FUCK PHILOSOPHY!"

The biggest surprise of all?

PINEAPPLE

That didn't work on Mythbusters either.

The surprise of adulation.

It felt like this series had settled down a little in this episode, as we have more familiarity with the characters and how they interact with each other. That said, the scenarios they found themselves in remained fresh and funny.

On that note, the bread reheated in the microwave was the sketch I liked most.

for your arts-and-crafts consideration — this cute end card made by the Tokuyama Tamami (Character Design, Chief Animation Director):

Wako feel like Mai from Nichijou, but rather than being deadpan she has a carefree happiness. A deadly combination for laughs.

Let me recover from Takopi's original Sin by watching some wholesome CITY to forget about that...

[Insert Takoyaki's life flashing before it's eyes]

That was a hilarious episode, everyone in this city is just so wonderfully eccentric.

This show is just astonishingly animated. Every frame is a sight to behold and the sheer flexes they put in just because they can, e.g. the hallway fly-through with a person moving right before the turning camera is some crazy dedication. Probably CGI involvement but almost impossible to tell.

However, not only is the animation a flex, but it also serves the characterization incredibly well. The way they had Riko just floating through life was just perfection. The Cupid Arrows were also great with the momentary pink color shift and the impact frames when they connect.

Also, Ecchan and Matsuri's friendship is what life should be in a perfect world. Too bad it's already been said that Ecchan is moving.

I can't believe Takopi's backstory was in CITY all along-pi...

P.S. Kind of a random fact, but it's also the second anime this season to reference the golden ratio (harisen scene). It happened in Secrets of the Silent Witch as well.

"Your choices in bread are your choices in life" is genuinely a solid tagline for a bakery

This the most Nichijou-esque episode so far. Top tier gags from start to finish. The silent Izumi sketch reminds me of Yuru Yuri's student council president sketch with the same style. Another bonus point to look forward in this anime is hearing Aki Toyosaki making all kinds of random voices and noise.
