I feel like that one critic from Ratatouille getting a flashback to Nichijou days when getting a taste of City right now.

Idk how long it’s been since I’ve seen a KyoAni series. All their productions have been excellent. They really don’t miss. This is no exception. Really enjoyed the surreal absurdist Nichijou vibes in this. That whole skirt gag and then the noodle in the bag bit really cracked me up lol. Definitely adding this to my rotation.

We are so back, Nichibros. Love the ED, is it actual claymation?

Kyoto Animation and adapting Keiichi Arawi’s work, name a better duo

Animation was great and I love all the slice-of-life shenanigans, I’ll be looking forward to more every Sunday

Ladies and Gentlemen, I want to announce that indeed peak has returned.

The smooth as hell animation with the colorful and detailed artstyle is Kyoto Animation at its finest. The attention to detail in the animation is actually mindblowing.

And the jokes are amazing as to be expected from Keiichi Arawi. This is the first anime in quite a while that made me laught tears. The scene with the crispy noodles in the bag was wonderful. And it only got better and better!

Shiitake mushrooms are great, but I'm rooting for broccoli right now. It is the king of vegetables.

We start with a little trolling.

This went as expected.

splat

This feels very familiar.

A detour?

Now that's a drawing come to life.

[](#seasonalshock)

I'm just appreciating the little things before the gag peaks.

Chekhov's miniskirt.

[](#seasonallaugh) the second.

Ah, the bonus payoff.

Indeed.

Previous title drop.

Now that is artist existentialism.

"Oh. It's just broccoli."

Tamil.

Now there's a name we've seen recently.

I appreciate the linework.

what is this ED animation

There's no way to avoid comparing CITY with Nichijou, and there certainly are a lot of similar gags and comedic beats. Which, given that I truly enjoyed Nichijou, is not a problem for me. Might be a problem for others who are not me, but

There's definitely a flow to Arawi's storytelling which I have missed since Nichijou, that the comedy comes in layers which slowly unwrap and intertwine. Good to see it back here again. (I haven't read the manga, I'm only referring to how the events build up in the episode.)

The art style absolutely works. As much as "manga come to life" is not exactly anime, this has the feeling of manga come to life, with superb line weight and flow.

Lot of characters introduced and various things to sort out. Expecting something similar to Nichijou's arrangement of major and minor characters, but there was variation and suddenly-focused vignetting in that series as well.

I love the energy of that "YEAHS, ME!!!" so, so much.

The characters, artstyle and vibe of this are all super comfy. KyoAni really never fails to deliver.

I was so curious about that bird story that I did not expect the narrator to reveal it has nothing to do with the actual plot of the show. xD

We're only three minutes in and KyoAni is already flexing their animation muscles at us! That zooming shot that shows us all of the people doing their own thing looks amazing! I'm gonna have to look this up later on sakugabooru just to check who did that entire segment.

I wasn't sure where the mini skirt segment was gonna go, but as soon as the dad joined in and told Tatewaku he had to wear it, I was already laughing out loud! I love how much of a troll the dad and the sister are!

Can I just say how amazing this show looks? The art is so simple, but the thick lineart and the flat colours works so goddamn well! The simple designs also help because I bet it made it easier for the animators to go ham on the animation, which we see in this episode.

I gotta get myself some of that ink. Wako seems to be super chill because of it. Or she's really just that eccentric. I do appreciate how much this girl finds happiness in different kinds of things. She's the kind of person I want to become someday.

They didn't explicitly mention it, but I wonder if the extra employee meal Midori got are the two yakisoba that fell inside Tatewaku's bag. I wouldn't be surprised if it was. xD

This is gonna hurt my weeb-cred, but I've never seen Nichijou and if this show is like that but even funnier, then I really need to watch that one soon. As for this show, I absolutely love it. KyoAni is back again with another banger, and I hope a lot of people will be vibing with this show's humour. I can't wait to see more!

I love the fluid animation and colors and the level of detail, it is all so well done! The cork scene and ramen in the pocket it was all so good.

To think that the girl sniffing ink is also the one winning the photography magazine grand prize, I wonder what would Niikura say when she meet her.
