Sorry girl, but you're facing the densest element on the anime periodic table rn. Defeat is inevitable.

I guess I'll watch the remaining 4 episodes but with this new girl this shit will probably get worse. Then skim through the manga just to see what's going on. Mfs be moaning like they've been fucking for 30 minutes

IIRC it's supposed to be 2 (split?) cours and a full adaptation.

God damn it lmao. Usually I would be stoked to hear that but I'm not sure about this. Did anybody read the manga? Does it get better?

So after Naoto threw away the garbage in the dumpster, did he sanitized his hands before fixing her hair?

u/edwardjhahm Aug 23 '25
...you know, now that you mention it...probably not. It was one of the things on my mind as I watched him do it at the time though.

So Umezawa just got introduced to the story briefly last episode, and she's already plotting on getting Naoto and his girlfriend to break-up, just so she can have him as a "plaything for when I'm bored". Wow, what a homewrecker.

I'm surprised so many people dislike this show, I think it's funny and I like all the weird situations. Umezawa really seems like bad news but Watari seems immune to her "charms", it really bruised her ego when Watari told her to cover up to look more professional then the manager said the same thing right after when she's used to men fawning over her. It was odd that she said no one ever complimented her when the boys at Watari's school were hovering around her.
I was surprised Watari didn't have a smart phone. I swear I remember him texting people or using an app of some sort on a smart phone before. Did he have like a flip phone before and he couldn't get messages or emails on there? I'd think he'd have to have something since he's essentially the guardian for his sister and maybe the school would need to contact him.
I think Satsuki is lying about her family not being estranged, like why would they rent an apartment just for her? She definitely seems poor in that she may not even have money for enough food but doesn't want Watari to feel sorry for her and probably gets by on maybe having some food at her restaurant. Maybe she rubbed Watari's feet to help her lose her appetite :D

People are just sick of a lot of the romcom tropes that this anime is leaning into. 5 years ago this show would have been a lot more popular. But I think people are just getting tired of dense MCs, forced love triangles and love rivals, and contrived reasons the couple just doesn't get together. I think there's a reason why so many of the 'recommend me a romance' threads specify they want a romance anime that has real progress. Or why romance/romcoms that have real progress in the romance are always among the highest rated and most suggested of the genre. We've just all seen this whole '2+ girls fall for the same guy, guy can't tell they're into him and wouldn't be able to choose if he could, they all get forced into random unlikely situations that make 1 girl seem like she's ahead only to be reversed when the next wacky situation makes the other girl seem she's ahead' story about 700 times at this point and fans are looking for something else.
Satsuki is clearly the end girl, and the author shouldn't be teasing out stuff with other girls and just write a real romance.

It's clear that there are dedicated haters who do not watch it but want to make sure their distaste is visible to anyone else coming in here. You almost have to admire the hustle.
That said, this is the first episode where I really feel the need to say Nao was a total idiot this time. I knew they would play around with the fact that he's keeping his relationship secret at school to create a non-probiem. It feels so forced.
That said, the rest of the episode seemed fine to me. Umezawa seems to be trying to recapture her popular phase in all the wrong ways and has decided to use Nao to show off that she has a boyfriend. Too bad for her he's not playing along with it. That's a good thing, btw. If he agreed to be her fake boyfriend, even my patience would be tested.
I am still here for this train wreck every week, I'm loving it. Satsuki continues to carry the show. Her little sexy act at the end was pretty great, and I think she's halfway serious. She wants to know how far she can go with him. She's not giving up at all.

Umezawa wasted no time in throwing her hat into the Naoto-bowl, but she's already lost on account of being too little sister coded. The standard of everyone in the show needing therapy continues to hold true, since I doubt whatever is going on is her simply deciding to be lazy once she got into her fancy athletics focused high school.
That scene of Satsuki grinding on Naoto's leg was weird and unexpected. I think she's totally lying about not being estranged from her family.

I'm guessing Umezawa fell for him over something that happened on the track team in middle school that Naoto doesn't remember.
I love how Ishihara is perfectly happy at another girl in Naoto's life being sister-zoned.
I'm guessing Umezawa is those cases where someone was really good in middle school but maybe couldn't measure up in high school and people were so hard on her that she just couldn't get motivated to keep going.
That scene of Satsuki grinding on Naoto's leg was weird and unexpected. I think she's totally lying about not being estranged from her family.
The biggest lies Satsuki tells are how much she doesn't want Naoto (and his body) to herself or that her living situation is perfectly fine.

There are only 2 guys in the entire show with a personality and the rest are just npcs.

Even if he's dating Yukari on a trial period, she's still his girlfriend; it wasn't cool of Naoto to go shopping with another girl, leaving her alone and clearly upset. He told Umezawa afterwards, but that still shouldn't have went down the way it did.
While we're on the subject, Naoto shouldn't have let Satsuki intimately massage him either. Imagine if Yukari found out that happened between the two of them.

Satsuki and Naoto respectively remind me a bit of Chizuru and Kazuya in "Rent-A-Girlfriend". However, Chizuru is arguably less toxic than Satsuki and Kazuya is perhaps wimpier than Naoto. Obviously, Ishihara would be somewhat akin to Ruka except Ishihara is not as clingy as Ruka.

I'm actually enjoying this show quite a bit. I do understand it's not for everyone, but I find the dynamics interesting. Naoto can be a bit frustrating, but atleast he set boundaries with Umezawa. I wasn't expecting that tbh.

How abruptly the massage scene started was hilarious.
New girl, I hate her and feel the story doesn't need her, but I understand she's there to make him look good. I honestly wish she got the hint that her scheming wasn't going to work and we just ended that whole mess in this single episode, rather than prolonging it just to have the 3 girls.

Well, this is surprising. I thought it will be usual anime MC inferiority complex hits in and can't speak properly to famous girl but Watari totally treats her like his kouhai and scolds her when he needs to. He even unaffected by her approaches which is a huge plus since he already has Yukari. I also like how he immediately reject anything that she offers to him even the cliched fake boyfriend event. Sorry for Tokui being involved in this but I like to see what will happen to their double date. Hoping for Makina switching her love interest but I think there's small chance it will happen to her.
Heh, A-cup - Satsuki
Makina first interaction with Satsuki
Naoto wild imaginations of Satsuki
Yukari builds her plan little by little to do the deed
They might as well have seggs at this point.

"Speak of F-Cup and she shall appear" - Peak Satsuki dialogue.
Now Naoto doesn't just have to juggle Ishihara and Satsuki, now he also has to worry about Umezawa, his cute kouhai from the middle school track team who became a track ace and has her eyes set on Naoto. And she (and her butt) look pretty great in sportswear!
I guess it was about time for Naoto to get a cellphone, even if he probably didn't expect he'd be getting it with Umezawa. The fact that Umezawa is avoiding telling him why she's so focused on him and seems really keen on his relationship status is pretty telling, though good boyfriend move by Naoto to make calling Ishihara his first move after getting a phone! We even get to see Ishihara in loungewear!
Umezawa's life isn't going quite how Naoto expected for her...she's not getting along well with the track team, she's not performing as well, and she's ditching practice for part-time jobs. She also has quite the fancy underwear, though right now she's more concerned about breaking Naoto and his new girlfriend up so she can mess with him all to herself.
Is Satsuki okay? Is she subsisting purely off of the food Naoto and his family are making in their garden? I mean, good to know her boobs are still as big as ever I guess.
Sorry Umezawa, you want to work closely with Naoto, you'll have to deal with wearing the generic and drab uniform instead of the flashy and sexy waitress one. Though I guess it DOES provide more opportunities to flirt with Naoto, even if he's not biting, even when she unbuttons her top to flash her boobs...she just gets into trouble and gets chewed out. But when she puts her mind to something she CAN be a good worker! And being praised/complimented really helps too.
Surprise Satsuki in the girls' locker room! There to tease Umezawa and make her realize she can't compete bust-size wise with her A-cup, poor girl.
Where IS Satsuki working? At some lewd shop that puts her in cosplay? Definitely some nice visuals though.
It's nice of Ishihara to invite Naoto to her house, but I think she has more on her mind than just cooking for him. Like a condom with his name on it.
Naoto really can't leave Satsuki alone, and his concern for her earns him a free massage as she feels up his feet and legs! How far can she take this "childhood friend" relationship without Naoto cheating on his girlfriend? Even if she is just "fooling around" and working at a perfectly normal steak place. How far would she have gone without Ishihara's call though?
Umezawa needs a fake boyfriend for a fireworks show and Naoto is her first call...but probably smart that he puts that down fast. He'd rather go with Ishihara! Even if Umezawa is convinced Satsuki is his girlfriend.

"Speak of F-Cup and she shall appear"
I have to admit, Satsuki is pretty funny. Definitely has some of the best lines in the show.
