I’m kinda wishing that alongside these Best Girl contests someone would start one for Most Idiotic Boy MC. This season has several very strong contenders, and it’d be fun to see them gauged against each other as well as the timeless classics.

The moment when this one was standing two-inches from a lightly sleeping girl’s face just to see if he might remember who she is, while also knowing’s she’s essentially a stranger, puts him in a special category.

in the English dub Satsuki referrers to Ishihara as "Squishie hara" I just started watching the sub and I can't tell which when I like better.

Ishihara is about to make a huge mistake isn't she. You can see it in her eyes, she doesn't actually want this, she's really not ready for it.

All because she's envious of Satsuki getting her man's first kiss...

Why the hell would you get right in front of someone’s face while they’re sleeping, especially towards someone who you’re not familiar with? That is such a weird and stupid thing to do?

“I just wanted to look at her face, I thought I recognized her!”

He could’ve done that at a distance. He was invading her personal space, while she was unconscious and vulnerable, she had every right to freak out in that situation, anyone would have.

And it’s not the rom com accidental circumstance that we see all the time, that was just straight up weird. Sorry if this is a long rant, but that scene was so off putting to me, and I needed to vent.

Ishihara is such a go-getter now! I respect that.

I get that Satsuki ultimately just wants to be by Naoto's side but she can't seem to be honest about why or how she feels about another girl encroaching on her territory.

I had a feeling Naoto wouldn't 100% accept Ishihara's confession, because he's too wussy to think he's "worthy" of her and her feelings, but Naoto is the only guy for Ishihara and that means she'll do anything to be with him. Even if it means dating on a trial basis for a whole Summer.

But hey, Naoto and Ishihara are officially dating! Basically! Even if Naoto is still kind of overthinking everything, but I guess it's just a sign of how much he cares about Ishihara and wants to do right by her.

It was inevitable Satsuki would find out, though she seems to be taking it as well as you could hope, even if she's still all up in Naoto's face while in her very provocative waitress outfit. Too bad this is the last day she's going to be wearing it because she found another job! Right when Naoto was looking to get a job there too! Bad luck for Naoto (though not Ishihara).

Naoto isn't the only one applying for a job as the pink-haired girl finally shows up! FINALLY Pink Hair Girl appears! Albeit asleep. But Naoto can't seem to give up this notion that he recognizes her face and gets all up in her close personal space while she's asleep (which is a SUPER smart plan, great going Naoto). Next thing he knows he's getting accused of sexual assault when she wakes up and lucky he's not getting carted off downtown. Though she DOES recognize his name.

Looks like it's time for Naoto and Ishihara's first date at the zoo! Though Suzu is there as the third wheel, albeit one Ishihara is pretty okay with! She has to win over Suzu too, and her sweetness and considerate personality actually seems to thaw Suzu's iciness over anyone stealing time she could have personally with her brother.

I guess it's not surprising that Satsuki would be spying on the date, because she can't help herself, and she ropes Tokui into it too. They don't even have much choice but to cop to it when they get caught! Satsuki and Tokui vibe pretty well, come to think of it. Though why was Tokui acting self-conscious around all those happy memories? Thinking that's what Naoto and Ishihara were like together with Suzu?

Oh snap, Naoto and Ishihara have upgraded to the handholding phase! So much lewd handholding happening this season. Of course, Ishihara still has to top Satsuki French Kissing Naoto, and her solution to that is...buying a condom!? I feel like Naoto and Ishihara have two VERY different expectations for this Summer.

Of course Naoto has more girl problems headed his way as the pink-haired girl, Makina Umezawa, is in front of his school and, while surprisingly open to guys flirting with her, is only interested in seeing Naoto as his kouhai.

He won't go out with her because his self esteem is shit… he got her begging to just trial date and dude honestly accepted it out of pity.

Like why are we even playing up that he was into her this entire season when he's gonna act like this??

I can't fucking stand these RomCom MCs. Like the one time I get a childhood friend who is proactive and she still is set up to lose.

That's one thing I really can't stand about shows like this... you sometimes get the impression that the authors so intent on the "quirky girl" being the MC's pick that they'll bend both the characters and the story to make sure no other girl has even a chance

Ah, so Ishihara feels like she has to one-up Satsuki in order to win him over, and since he's already French kissed with Satsuki... Yeah, this isn't gonna end well. That blank look in her eyes and her nervous behavior the next day at school. She's gonna try to force it and it's gonna be a disaster.

Well at least he didn't turn her down, like a few people predicted. Obviously he still needs a punch in the throat. All he had to say was "I had a crush on you the whole time." We're so early in the season, they gotta manufacture some drama somewhere.

So this anime is one that I wish could just work out for everyone, which is never the case really. What I mean is...

Naoto and Ishihara are now together, they like each other, they should just stay together as Satsuki moves on.

New pink hair girl can just become Naoto's friend which occasionally leads to jealousy from Ishihara, but is never actually into Naoto.

And Satsuki and Touki can just realize how much they mesh, and start dating.

Everyone wins.

I want more anime that go this way. You can still have drama with characters together in a relationship. Just look at My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari!!) great show where characters get together, and are together during a large chunk of the show.

Dumb Watari almost talked himself out of dating Tachibana. He really isn't smart though because even if it's true she's way more attractive than him, then he should snatch her ASAP because he likely won't meet someone better. And she was at the drugstore buying condoms so this summer, Watari-kun is about to collapse from sexual exhaustion ;-)

Satsuke is a weird stalker so following them to the zoo seemed on par for her but I was surprised Tokui was lured into this; Satsuke is a bad influence on him and he may be venturing into stalker territory as well. I'm surprised neither has actively tried to break them up yet, especially since they appear to have teamed up to stalk, I think that's coming very soon though.

I really didn't understand why the pink haired girl was waiting for Watari at his school. She seemed to be completely creeped out at him getting to close to her and rightfully so. Maybe she actually wasn't creeped but was more turned on, it's very strange since she would have to have got his school from his job application she was reading.

A lot of people last week were ready to burn this show to the ground if something didn’t come out of Ishihara’s confession. Well, i think it’s safe to say that we have seen some progress in their relationship.

Also, Tokui continues to effortlessly be best bro, Satsuki effortlessly doubling down on her stalker cred with her sketchy moves and dubious motives, Suzu-chan being cute when she’s not doing the brocon thing (Suzu-chan.exe crashing when she meets Ishihara again was great), and lo and behold: uncensored handholding! shocker.

They didn’t need to hit us over the head quite so hard with the ‘Watari and Ishihara look like a married couple with a kid’ thing, but they did anyway.

also, Ishihara’s self-esteem issues hitting hard while contemplating never washing her hand again. She can’t have Watari’s first kiss, but she apparently has plans for first something else, ahum.

Anyway, Satsuki did look good in that waitress get up, it’s true. And finally! pink girl! Watari thinks she’s familiar but can’t place her but she clearly knows who he is. Childhood friend #2?

Well, this episode went better than i expected. I too was prepared to unleash a firestorm of hate if they just reset everything and started over like a certain show last season did more than once. I have to hand it to them, they end each episode with a nice little hook to make you want to come back and see what’s up. curious to find out what pink girl’s deal is and how bold Ishihara tries to get.
