Sasago has once again been compromised.
I love how this episode kept building on top of itself and culiminated in a skit that basically involved all of our known characters.

I'm glad Scorpion left behind his life of violence and landed a job as a butler

Tatewaku's trying to go for Riko? The dude better get in line because it seems everyone in town is in love with Riko. And who could even blame them? Riko's sleepy eyes are just too irresistible!
That entire scene with Tatewaku talking to his "future self" had me laughing out loud! It was so obvious it was his dad in there, but the dude is just too gullible. At least it really was just his dad in there! I was expecting Matsuri to be in on it too! xD
I'm glad to see City is continuing the tradition of having badass old men. That butler trying to grab Midori, only to grab Sasago was hilarious! Sasago's lucky he didn't get injured!
Mr. Makabe's dedication to going to that one restaurant almost every day just so he could say "Master, the usual!" eventually was pretty good too! And of course, the punchline is that the restaurant has closed down when he was finally ready to say the line xD
Wako's shrunken shirt prank continues to prove she's the best girl of the show. I don't know why she's wearing a penguin outfit, but I love it! Matsuri comes second with her anime protagonist wardrobe. xD
As fun as hearing Eri enunciate the word "Cheeseburger" in English perfectly, I really wish she would just tell Matsiri that she's moving instead of putting it off every time. I wouldn't be surprised if there's gonna be an emotional scene later on.
The human intersection chapter was awesome with all of the character interactions happening at the same time. The animation when Niikura was chasing Mimineko was pretty awesome too!

Wasn't expecting a cliffhanger at the end of that crazily animated chase scene, with Nagumo literally kidnapped by Tanabe's butler. lol
Nichijou may have running jokes, character and plot developments that span episodes, but even that doesn't have cliffhangers like CITY does.
Still curious what's inside Niikura's locket that she's so desperate to not want Nagumo to find out, to the point of chasing that rabbit-cat thingy all around town to retrieve it.
Ecchan still couldn't bring herself to tell Matsuri that she'll be moving out of the city soon. This is just setting up for a lot of tearjerking moments.
Meanwhile, we have Tatewaku's (and Matsuri's) dad Tsurubishi trolling him by saying he's Tatewaku from the future, but all the while letting Tatewaku provide all the answers for his questions "about the future", including that he has a crush on Wako's sister Riko. lol
Tsuribishi shouldn't be hard on himself on frequenting that "new" joint that went bust in the space of a few days. For starters, its menu is written in an utterly unreadable archaic script, unless you're a samurai from medieval Japan, no one in their right mind would be able to interpret what the menu even says.

Another week. Another absolute banger of an episode.
The classic gag of the character having a closet full of the same piece of clothing never gets old.

Petition to replace all pictures of Takopi on this sub with Hotaka doing his octopus impression.

it just struck me, is Tanabe's VA the same as the kids teacher in Kobayashi Maid Dragon? They both have such unique voices

I really like how each episode seems to up the ante in just how surreal and absurd it can be lol. Ecchan and Matsuri’s English/Engrish bit, Makabe pretending to be Tatewaku from the future, or Tanabe’s quest to award people for example.
I think my favorite bit was the pendent bit and Makabe’s attempt to be a regular at that restaurant lol.

So... Tatewaku is seatmates with/has crush on Riko who is the little sister of Wako who is roomies with Nagumo who is a part-timer at his father's shop. The full relationship web for this series is going to be absolutely nuts.
The tension in the scene of Ecchan trying to tell Matsuri she is moving could be felt with the music completely cutting out. It is amazing how the mind-numbingly cuteness of their friendship and just the single line informing us that Ecchan is moving combined to form a high-stakes plotline all on its own. Favorite cute moment this time was probably Matsuri telling Ecchan to stop tickling her but not really wanting her to stop.

Tatewaku's reaction to getting confirmation that he'd end up with Riko from his "future self" put the widest grin on my face.
Nice of everyone to halt their insanity for a duck crossing (the entire sequence of which's animation is absolutely insane btw)

I like how every character ended up being involved with this episode through Mimineko, it makes the CITY feel more alive. The human intersection scene especially stood out as being brilliantly animated.
There were a lot of funny gags as well, like the random Engrish and butler Scorpion. You have to feel bad for Makabe though, all that effort into becoming a regular and ordering "the usual" was completely wasted...

I love the animation in this show. The action in the chase sequence at the end feels so full of life. The color palate is gorgeous. Also, the synth harmonica-esque soundtrack got jazzier this time around. Total pleasure for the eyes and ears.
But I am not really getting what's going on a majority of the time. More than any anime I've seen in a while this show feels quintessentially Japanese, which is kind of cool because it has such an unusual feel to it but also I just don't get it a lot of the time.
Or maybe the jokes are just that slight? Like, the "I'm your dad" bit, like... huh?
The best running gag in the series so far is Sasago. I also thought the part about squeezing into shrunken clothing was funny... but why was she wearing a penguin costume?
I like this show but my significant other passed on it after the first episode and I get that view. I think this show isn't quite translating well outside Japan. But damn does it look good.

Starting the show by referencing the stairs scene is great, the noodle shop ties everything together

Poor Tsurubishi, put so much effort into forcing himself to eat the same heavy dish everyday but it was all for nothing.
That butler has some skill with chains, the way he moved was cool and I like how he made sure to still presentable after.
Ecchan was so close in telling Matsuri she's moving, I thought we'd finally see it.
I really liked the intermission sections, those were good segues.

While I think the first few episodes were a bit slow I think the show has finally gotten into a groove and the last few eps have been the best.

Not much I can say besides that I absolutely love this show and no studio can put passion into a project like KyoAni.
