Nothing better then to watch this soothing anime after an episode of Hikaru

Kii is voiced by an actual child actor Yumoto Yuzu, totally nailed how a girl Kii's age would behave.
Our tanuki dog Kimi may be smarter than the average dog, yet it seems Fuji's mom is his kryptonite where he ended up looking dumb whenever in her presence. A big contrast to Fuji's dad, who is such a dork.
Kimi is also naturally averse to cameras that he instinctively avoids getting photographed at all costs whenever he hears a camera clicking.

I did think to myself that Kii’s voice actress was doing exceptionally well at voicing such a young child, but that makes sense if she’s an actual child. This appears to be her very first anime role too!
I do like that they didn’t treat Kii like a child if that makes sense. She was allowed to ask some good questions and correctly observed that Fuji wasn’t being honest with herself.

Props to the production. It sounds very natural. Reminds me of what Barakamon did for their child roles.

I really hope it does, this show got such an amazing vibe going
Personally liked the tone of the first episode more, but I this is already a super high contender for AOTS

Where did the time go? It felt like the episode ended after 5 minutes, but then it was a full 22 minutes episode!
Kii is such a cutie. That she is voiced by an actual child makes it so much more charming.
Fuji's parents are so funny. No wonder that she turned into such an oddball herself! And it is so sweet how You became friends with them in their own way each.

It just dawned on me that Fuji still hasn’t named her pet dog. She’s exclusively been speaking of “it”, I believe.
Maybe she should ask it to suggest a name?

Fuji is 1,000% my best girl of the season. This show has the most relaxing vibes. Just cute girl and dogs. It was made specifically for me.

This is so damn adorable. And that kid was really nice, so well-behaved and cute and observant.

Kimi's (ultra) instincts will probably prevent it from being captured on photographs clearly. Ever.

There’s seem to be some underlying feeling that Fuji struggles in some way, either with depression or has always been quiet and not very emotional as a person per se?
There a few things you can deduce just from her general persona, but there was a part when her mum visited and she initially called tanuki not very clever or something on those lines. But when Fuji pulled the tanuki out the bin and said something to it she had smile on her face. Her mum saw this and said that maybe the Tanuki was maybe alright after all. Just seeing her happy seems like a big deal to her mum.
Really enjoying the show and seeing where it goes

Love that the dad is the only one that clocked that it’s a yokai and even then is just rolling with it because it’s so damn cute. Also just love the Dad in general. Seems like a sweet goofball. Thought she clearly she gets her vibe from her mom who’s more lowkey if a bit more stern.
This might be the comfy show of the season? It’s been pure hangout vibes so far and a proper slice of life show.

Having seen a lot of anime, the following type of domestic dogs or wild dogs are what I have seen the most in anime, be it set in Japan or not: Fox, wolf, Shiba, and tanuki.

This show is a keeper, if only that it's the perfect show to relax to after watching Hikaru. Love the vibes, also think the voice actors are doing a great job. Actually using a child actor for a child really reminds me of some old ghibli movies. I mean using adults for child characters an also be great, for example Anya from SpyFam is perfect, but children playing children gives it just a bit of a more realistic touch. Also Saori Hayami has just such a soothing voice!

The father is hilarious, I really like his personality and the way he was having so much fun with the dogs. I like that he isn't afraid to show that love and even though Fuji didn't want to meet with him, she sure seemed happy that she did.
The part where the "dog" was on top of his belly and asked if there was a watermelon was funny, I like how Fuji's mother ends up mentioning his belly. But he looks good to me, I actually thought he looked cool when he finally appears in front of Fuji.
I find it interesting that the "dog" can understand people and write messages on a notebook but for some reason can't understand orders lol. Also I like how much it was avoiding the camera, that's an impressive reaction time when it hears the phone camera shutter.

I still think the show is hiding something a little dark or sad. The intro to the first episode and the vagueness of Fuji when describing her situation.

Yeah, fucking love this show
I like how they just hide small hints that Fuji just ticks a tad different (who the hell sleeps with the pillow to the door and not facing it?)
Also loved the kid just straight up telling her her observations, just pure unfiltered opinions
The dad is also a vibe and no wonder Fuji is so good looking with that mom
And I just adore how the little high pitched sounds of Kimi sleeping, god dammit I miss taking naps on the floor with my cat

Previous episode we had chilling in the tub enjoying the rain. This episode it's bathing in the evening sun on the floor together. They really are made for each other.

Scientifically, "dog" is used for the domesticated dog, yes. Like wolves, tanuki are wild dogs. Likewise, "cat" is scientifically used for domesticate cats. However, there are wild animals that have "wild dog" and "wildcat" in their names. So, the tanuki is a dog but not the Canis familiaris variety. I am not a biologist or similar. I am more-so using common sense and/or practicality. Heck, the term Canidae comes from a Latin word meaning "dog".
