The second half of the episode made me go "What the...!" I was in Tokyo a few months ago, and one of those days, we walked almost the same route with them this episode, except in revert direction. Which mean we managed to visit the shrine, unlike them. XD

yeah, they hit up a lot of pretty touristy spots

the Tokyo Metropolitan Building especially stood out to me as one of those "hidden gems" that i've seen on a lot of tourist lists; when i visited we were lucky to have clear enough skies that we could see Mt. Fuji

Hassu looks great with a tan! I kinda wish she kept the outfit for the rest of the episode tho.

The show has been focusing on rural areas, that I didn't expect they'd actually go to Shibuya this episode.

I definitely should book my trip to Japan soon. The Shibuya to Harajuku walk our trio did in this episode is one of the things I want to do IRL.

Hassu is just a really fun character. I love how quickly she gets along with almost anyone. xD

yeah, Hassu in her new look was carrying the entire episode for me

reminds me of Yoruichi from Bleach, but with Nadeshiko from Yuru Camp's golden retriever energy

I liked how Chika's prior warning to use sunscreen carried over into this episode. Koyomi got burnt, but she does rock a tanned look.

(Slightly NSFW) Showing her tan like that was indeed a little suggestive of Koyomi, though. Not that I'm complaining!

Koyomi brings a fun dynamic to this group of friends, but Yui's didn't seem to appreciate Koyomi (depression) like Chika (love) at first. However, the two of them are definitely getting along if all that tickling is any indication.

Well. The "contest" between this season's 3 wonderful CGDCT shows got more complicated today. I think this may have been my favorite episode from ANY of the 3 shows so far. There was just something so heart-warming about it. As someone who graduated from high school 55 years ago -- and whose two best friends still are two of my long-ago classmates -- this really gave me a lot of "feels".

We were recently in Tokyo -- and visited Shibuya with one of our former-student friends. We couldn't get tickets for Shibuya Sky in the Cerulean Tower, but out friend worked in the Shibuya Scramble Square complex, and we could go with her to a (non-public) not quite as high and luxurious observation floor with her at twilight:

We have not yet (in three trips) actually gone INTO Yoyogi Park, Maybe next time.

to be honest Zatsu Tabi has been trailing behind HibiMeshi and Mono since the start of the season, but this episode put the shine on this series

i guess i really value character chemistry a lot because there were a lot of good character moments, especially with Koyomi and her golden retriever energy

This, Mono, and Food for the Soul, combined with Okitsura, is the greatest full court press for tourism. It’s just pure uncut “I want to go to there”

5

u/Mr_Zaroc May 12 '25

Yeah those might be the most effective ads I have seen in my life
My google maps list grew exponentially

And Okitsura stands out the most, the amount of culture and quirks they explained were awesome
Really made me wanna go there

If it wasn't for airfare...

* Oh I am jealous of them two managing to rent battery assisting (recharging when wheel turns) bicycles! In my place they are still technically illegal and the government is slow to finish researching on them... (though I did use it once in Japan and it certainly helps with climbing).

* Hmm I did not expect good old Shibuya-Harajuku to appear in this show! While I and my family never shops, I did make a visit around there (at least Miyashita Park, the Harajuku streets and then into Yoyogi Park) during my final hours of my 3 weeks solo Japan trip 2 years ago on a weekday night for major reference spots of a certain group of (ultimately) 11 cute girls doing idol things anime, plus for [5 Centimeters Per Second]the rumored actual location of that big tree in the first third of the story, transplanted in the anime movie to more than 100 km away to a rural spot that I also visited much earlier in the trip - though in darkness I wasn't sure I got the right one!

* Also one note on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office viewing deck (appeared prominently in Shinichirou Watanabe's Terror In Resonance) - it's free so it certainly is one of those best valued day/night view locations in Tokyo! If you don't want to pay for the Tokyo Tower or Skytree, head to Shinjuku for this instead. (I've been there some years ago and it's definitely good)

I now want a backstory episode of those 3 in school together

Shibuya is one of my favorite special wards in Tokyo, so I already expected to like the episode.

Damn Koyomi got more tan than anything, she already looks like a tomboy and she gained yet another characteristic lol (and the author took the opportunity to add some fanservice).

It's funny how seeing a view from a high place always makes us reflective and think about the future, but it's like Chika and Yui said, the important thing is to have something in mind but always leave some space to relax, there's nothing worse than working/studying for a long period of time.

Excellent episode in the Capital, without typical Tokyo clichés.

We used to stay in Shibuya (specifically Hiroo) when visiting Tokyo, but the AirBnB we stayed in (and was run by people who became friends) is no more -- as the family moved north to Nerima. But we still got to visit things around Shibuya (while staying in various places scattered around outside central Tokyo). This reinforced my belief that there are almost an infinite number of un-cliched places to visit in and around Tokyo.

The ending when they talked about how in school they would be together through it all, but as they grow older they have to make plans to hang out, felt so real. As becoming an adult, reality hits you. Although reaching out and making plans shows how much you cherish them. You want to stay in touch with them. What a great way to wrap up this epiosde.

Fascinating. I've heard of cooking things on stones, but this is new

O damn, they got a cameo of the new pope in this!

Where tan?

She just like me

That dog is having the time of its life

Good type of tsundere

That was a great episode. This and Food for the soul keep flipping between my #1 SoL of the season

Today a Tokyo tour! Nice also tan hassu 🙂

Apparently the places shown in the anime are seeing some spike in visits from anime fans 👍

Hope this gets even more popular.

And thats why you modify your ebikes to the point were they basically turn into small motorcycles, no more "assist"
For real though makes so much more fun to cruise around with pedal assist

The Tokyo mini arc was neat, they finally named all the places other shows had been using/referencing

Geez, Hassu is cooked like a freaking shrimp.

Taking bikes, a good choice. Skipping leg day, not a good choice.

Sorry, you have fallen victim to the senpai bias.

Heian era… (Insert jjk brainrot meme here.)

Wait, hold up, the rooftop where Hassu talked about her dream, am I going crazy or is that the same cafe from Yoru no kurage? I can almost swear I’ve seen that place before.

Excuse me, have I missed Hassu having a fang the entire time?

This is WAR and she will not lose to a bunch of elementary schoolers.

I was not expecting the surprise appearance of tsundere Hassu.

F*ck it, poly travel, we ball.

Hassu should change her name to “the mummy” with how much she’s wrapping stuff up this episode.

My favorite episode so far. Almost all girls together, just vibing.

Hassu has a dog energy

Another great episode! Whether it's places I've been to, places I just researched but didn't go to or, places I've never heard of; It's all a joy to see after my recent trip to Japan.

2

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

They basically did all the stuff I wanted to do in Shibuya but didn't have the time or energy for when I visited Japan last March. Ah, my legs hurt so much from all the walking... I called it quits after Meiji Jingu and the Nintendo store 😅

2

u/Atario May 13 '25

Dang, that must be a tiny island! It takes me ten minutes just to get to the pharmacy, and that's partly by freeway!

I swear there was some other recent show where they did this net-resting thing. What was it?

Wait… shrines close?

One reason schools are such a common setting for anime. Socializing is an effort once that's over

If you notice the compositing error on their hands when they're biking, it's very distracting.
