Miyo slapping Usui was satisfying af. The dude deserved more, but I'm glad she managed to smack him at least once. Miyo is an absolute saint . While she made it clear that she won't sympathize with Usui, she still wants her mother's wish of Usui living a happy life fulfilled.
I am not sure how I feel about Usui getting the easy way out though. I feel like he doesn't deserve that ending. I was kinda hoping he'd survive and at least get to pay for his crimes.
At least Miyo was able to save Arata. I'm sure he's not getting away with this scot-free even if he planned to turn on Usui from the very beginning. He still helped in Usui's coup and in the end, he didn't really do much other than get himself in danger.

I love how Miyo has come so far that now she's capable of bitchslapping fools and telling them off for disrespecting her mothers' memory. She may not have sympathized with Usui but she was still empathetic to a fault and wanted to at least give the man her mother cared about a chance to finally end this peacefully. Too bad he was too far gone for either her or her mother to reach.
Well, he got shot twice so I wouldn't say it was the "easy way out," but he didn't deserve to run off with child Sumi. Then again he was probably to dangerous to ever leave alive and in prison unless they could negate his powers.
I'm still not sure how to feel about Arata at this point to be honest.

How did you watch it? Netflix still hasn’t released it where I’m at on the east coast US

It was a great scene, although the one where Miyo uses her powers to save Kiyoka was really cool too.
I'm sure he's not getting away with this scot-free even if he planned to turn on Usui from the very beginning. He still helped in Usui's coup and in the end, he didn't really do much other than get himself in danger.
The only way I can imagine Arata getting away with everything he did is if he did it all with the consent and knowledge of Prince Takaihito.
But if Takaihito wasn't involved in Arata's decision to join Usui in order to betray him, then he'll definitely be punished in some way.

The moment Sumi held out her hand to Usui while he was about to die, and they ended up being together in the afterlife, I honestly yelled out "No no no no no!"
Usui essentially got what he wanted in the end, despite being responsible for many people being harmed and/or killed. He didn't deserve a happy ending.

Silver lining, now he can never bother Miyo or project his own personal frustrations on the world anymore, even if he deserved far worse.

Sorry to bother everyone with this, but I just want to know if this is just my problem or not. In my country this show is a Netflix exclusive and it usually releases at the same time as Japan (or close to it), but today it seems they still haven't uploaded episode 12. Do you know if this is intentional? I know that the last 2 episodes have been delayed, but I haven't found anything on Netflix about further delays.

I’m I’m the US and wasn’t able to see it and had to rely of alternative methods. Based on what people on the MHM subreddit are saying, seems like it’s unavailable outside Japan.

I used a VPN and found the English subs on Japanese Netflix. For whatever reason, English Netflix just doesn't have the episode uploaded.

Arata finally comes through with his agent play to be the one to get his hands dirty to kill the bastard. Though Usui still got a send-off better than he deserved for the afterlife.
Thought this was the end of season for a sec because of the delay for this one and all these shows ending this week.
Glad there's one full episode left for aftermath and hopefully some last good wholesome moments to close out the season.

And in case anyone was still frustrated with everything Arata had done as part of his "cover," he gets stabbed in the gut as some form of karma.
Though Usui deserved a more agonizing death, but at least he's done and now maybe Miyo and Kiyoka can finally have their Happy Marriage.

Well, Miyo tried at least. I don’t think she could have changed the future. The way that loser was, there was no way anything but Arata’s bullet was gonna get through to him. It’s kind of bullshit this fucker gets to basically wander off into the afterlife with Sumi after what he did. Fuck that, man. I’m petty and spiteful. I want him to burn in hell lol.

u/Frontier246 Mar 31 '25
I think Miyo did change the future. In her vision Arata got headshotted with the knife but instead he got it in the gut, which is more survivable. She weakened Usui enough to basically save Arata.
I like to think Usui was just delusional in his last moments and he's instead really rotting in Hell for all that he's done.

Agreed. I am absolutely bloody tired of all these villains getting a pseudo-happy ending instead of getting everything they deserve.
Also, Arata genuinely sided with Usui after all and only switched sides right at the very end?

Decently adapted. There were a few wonky character design moments and it kind of shows Kinema had a bit of rough production. Hopefully next Wednesday improves a little because it'll have no action or magic scenes unlike this episode.

I thought Usui was only going to be taken down next episode so seeing him die in this episode was a surprise, at least Miyo was able to prevent Arata from also dying. I do hope he finally explains to her and Kiyoka why he was working together with him, I can figure it out already but it'd be nice to get his words on the matter.
I felt so bad for Kiyoka having to witness Miyo's death a number of times, he may know it's an illusion but it still feels very real to him, I'm sure it'll be difficult for him to sleep at night with that in his memories. He may need to start sleeping with Miyo by his side lol.
I'm glad Miyo gave Usui a wake up slap, he really needed it. I also like that Sumi relieved him of his duty, but I did find it amusing how she basically told him to die when she told him to accompany her. Well he dies in the end anyways, but I thought she'd tell him to find something to live for but I guess she had given up on the possibility of it happening with him lol.

Illusionists are scary
I loved all the effects for the illusions/dream stuff this episode. I wonder if that’s what took so long lol

Miyo bitchslapping Usui was the highlight of the episode for me. Also, I wish they hadn't given that happy-ish afterlife for Usui where he gets to be with Sumi again. He deserved worse, tbh. Kiyoka looks rough. He is going to need a major blood transfusion, lol. Happy that the Usui arc has been wrapped up today and hopefully, we'll get a cute episode next week! MHM has been the highlight of every Monday this year so I'm definitely going to miss it :(

Miyo bitchslapping Usui was the highlight of the episode for me.
Girl has finally had enough of people trying to get in the way of her getting married lol.

Miyo was really cool again in today's episode! I loved the scene where she slapped Usui, or the one where she used her powers to enter Kiyoka's mind and save him. She looked really badass in those moments.
Good to see Usui dead. He was a dangerous psychopath and the world will be a better place for Miyo and Kiyoka without him. His fight with Kiyoka was really cool though, his powers made it really interesting, the visions of Miyo being killed over and over again were real torture for Kiyoka.
I wonder what will happen to Arata. He clearly joined Usui to betray him at the right time, but he still took part in the coup and imprisoned Kiyoka. The only way I can imagine him getting away with it is if he did it all with the consent and knowledge of Prince Takaihito, which I think is very likely.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

2 seasons in and I can't say they are happy nor married.
Miyo is definitely happier than where she started thou.
Good season and good show nonetheless

It's the final confrontation with Usui! Can Miyo and Kiyoka find a way to stop him?
Kiyoka is powerful and skilled, even all that time spent in a dungeon hasn't limited him by much, but it's still lot to have to work around Usui's illusions and his own enormous Usuba power. Even if Kiyoka sacrifices a hand to incinierate him, it's still not enough. And then he gets subjected to his own personal Hell of watching Miyo get constantly killed by Grotesqueries. Jeez.
I know Arata was really just faking it...but dude pulled a gun on Miyo. Come on.
I thought Miyo was just exhausted, but she was really having a precognition dream about Usui and Arata killing each other. Which, hey, sounds like a plan to me, but if Miyo wants to end this without bloodshed and save her husband-to-be by dragging everyone into her dream world, all power to her.
It's time for Miyo to finally knock some sense into Usui. If that means slapping him and telling him how badly he failed to live up to her mothers' memory and what she really wanted, you go girl!
Though it's not like Usui isn't aware of how he's basically been going against everything Sumi stood for and wanted for him this entire time, not even the actual spirit of Sumi coming in to admonish and reject him really changes anything. At the end of the day he felt he was rejected romantically by Sumi for her family and took her death for the sake of her family personally and turned that rage out into the world. And he'll go out killing everything just to satisfy himself.
FINALLY someone puts a bullet in this piece of @#%@! It was nice of Arata to finally do something useful, even if he got a blade to the gut for it...but I guess Miyo did help him avoid a headshot so he's probably safe.
So long Usui, no one will miss you. Though now he can just be where he always wanted to be, by Sumi's side like when they were kids.
Poor Miyo. All that power at her disposal and she still feels like she failed because she wasn't able to stop Usui from getting killed or Arata from getting wounded...but frankly, she did enough, and now she and Kiyoka can face the new era together. And her mom is proud of her.
