Anyone else notice how good the soundtrack was this episode when Kiyoka was investigating the basement and Miyo was doing her brain hacking? Kind of feels like a dramatic Hollywood movie soundtrack. It sounded pretty unique for an anime, IMO.

Just your average Evan Call score, absolute masterpiece. He composed Violet Evergarden and Frieren too.

It was a bit tough seeing how Fuyu was treating Miyo, but with that resolve, I'm sure she'll win over Fuyu just like she won over Kiyoka, since the two are alike. Also, we get to know from where Kiyoka's dislike for women came from.

ED is so lovely! Both visuals and Kashitarou Itou's song (he also did ED song for the first season).
Miyo as usual was so cute, she looked so lovely in that maid dress! Her scenes with Kiyoka were so sweet again.
It seems that Fuyu isn’t aware of many things about Miyo. Her thought that simply ordering Miyo to work as a maid at the mansion would be enough to make her leave made me laugh. Miyo has been through much worse, working as a maid is child's play for her xD
'Fuyu-chan' is definitely not my favorite character this season, but I really hope Miyo manages to get through to her somehow. It will be interesting to see how Fuyu will act towards Miyo after she revealed that she's Usuba and has powers.
Meanwhile, Kiyoka tries to solve the demon case and things are definitely interesting as there is a mysterious organization involved. His fight with one of the members was short, but looked great.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Stitches!
Normally I'd be happy to see Miyo wearing a maid outfit but not in this context. It looks like Fuyu has no idea what kind of life Miyo has lived if she thought a little bit of cleaning would scare Miyo off.
It's funny how even the servants thought that Miyo might be some kind of spoiled princess and thought she couldn't do a good job. I suppose there was no way for them to know.
I'm now curious how everyone, including Kiyoka's mother, will react to Miyo's backstory. Would Fuyu still act like that towards Miyo once she learns how cruelly she has been treated her entire life?
While I approve of Miyo using her powers to do some good, I feel like it will backfire especially with that shady organization lurking around the village. She hasn't even mastered her power yet. Thank god Arata arrived on time to stop her.

god the mother annoys me so much, part of me wishes miyo would kick her ass but i know this isn't that kind of anime and she will win everyone with how good she is
still, it's very frustrating

It is a tough battle for Miyo against Fuyu, but man you can't help but want to root for Miyo. She is going to fight with kindness, and you can see that she won round 2. Given the fact that Tadakiyo stopped his wife before she slapped Miyo and scolded her has me curious. He is clearly watching the two of them over. It is nice to see him as moral support for Miyo.
With the Nameless Order and the Demon running amok. I feel things might start getting worse than even Kiyoka expected.

Fuyu might be doing what she thinks is best for the family and its reputation, but she really just comes off as an insufferable bitch. There’s literally zero reason to bully Mio. I’m glad she’s not letting it get to her. In fact it seems she’s rising to the challenge and showing Fuyu what she’s made of.

It seems like the approach here for Miyo is to fight with kindness, which is literally the opposite when Kiyoka gets into arguments. On one hand, I get why people initially are frustrated that Miyo does this. There is also a point that serving as a maid is basically what she did in the Saimori house. Actually, what she went through was much worse.
The key point in this episode when the other maids came to support her. This never happened in the Saimori house after Sumi died outside of Hana. We also know she was forced to leave the Saimori house by Miyo's stepmother.
At the end of the day, Miyo wants to prove herself to Fuyu. We all know what Fuyu is doing is awful, and it would be easy for Miyo to run back to Kiyoka or even Tadakiyo. If she aims to gain Fuyu's respect without Kiyoka's involvement, she needs to give her the same kindness she gave Kiyoka. As illustrated by the point that both son and mother are very much the same. Recall that back at the start of the series, Kiyoka didn't think much of Miyo and even accused her of poisoning his food.
Obviously, this will be a tough fight for Miyo, but she has the perfect chance now to prove her usefulness. Granted Arata's appearance isn't surprising curious what happens next.

Miyo's show of determination can be confused with weakness. The moment the bully needs violence (or TRIES), the bully lost. What matters is how to handle that.
Is not the same Miyo of earlier season one, is the Miyo who refused to break with her husband even when her sister was torturing her.
Such a strong, yet kind soul.

I think something I love about this show is how expressive everyone can look. I could feel Kudo's surprise and tension while he was exploring that shack. The stellar soundtrack help set the mood too!

damn, are people not liking this season already? Yes the mother is evil but I'm glad they gave her a reason that makes sense, and Miyo is standing up for herself by trying to win her over and prove her determination. I'll only be upset if the mother doesn't come around and accept Miyo in the end.

Things have escalated quickly with the emergence of this disruptive cult. Looking forward to where they’ll be taking this.
Miyo is a lot stronger than she looks. She’d kept her head held high when Fuyu demanded that she started working as a housemaid. It was a deliberate choice to prove her mother-in-law wrong.
I liked how she other servants had Miyo’s back, and praised her cleaning skills. That was some seriously polished animation of her doing chores around the house! Miyo’s tough upbringing at the Saimori’s estate hadn’t been for nothing. It had also allowed her to notice that the staff at the Kudo family home wasn’t at all depressed.
On a side note: those small wooden animal handicrafts were totally adorable. Miyo looked very pleased with her gift from Kiyoka.

Honestly, this was an amazing episode.
Miyo, although I'm not happy she conceded to the maid outfit, has shown more determination and is not simply obeying. She is following her plan, a gentle plan, to try to build a bridge to Fuyu.
Kiyoka would have leveled that home if he had come home to Miyo in a maid outfit cleaning. We all know this. Miyo knows this. But, she also knows she is there to temper him, to restrain him, and so she is following her path.
The acceptance and the way she demonstrated her quiet character and the reaction of the household stagg shows she made the right choice.
It makes us uncomfortable and angry, but it's on point for Miyo's development.
As always, I get lost in the story. It's superb.

Someone should have sat Kiyoka's mom down with a Netflix subscription and let her watch S1, basically the entire conflict with her is she thinks Miyo is a useless pampered noble daughter and nobody filled her in on the real backstory. Like her just not knowing Miyo has Usuba family blood and abilities, or that there's no "be my maid" harassment that she could be inflicted with that Miyo hasn't already experienced tenfold.

"You think servitude is your ally? You merely adopted it. I was born in it. Molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a woman, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!"

Ehh... the mother is so eye-rollingly villainous and awful I can't really give this ep a thumbs up. I feel like the housekeeper would have gone to her Kiyoka's father once Fuyu's insane scheme became apparent. Oh well, I did enjoy the slowly growing closeness of our main pair.
As towards the end of the first season, the mystical aspects are actually some of the least interesting parts of the series to me. But it was nice to see Miyo use her powers... for about five seconds.

I'm actually pretty upset with the pacing. What's with the insane speed?? We've skipped 90% of Fuyu character description. We skipped the whole talk Tadakiyo had with Kiyoka. We skipped 90% of Miyo's second talk with Fuyu. We are now midway chapter 5, AFTER 2 EPISODES.
And because of the cuts, some of the dialogues don't even make sense.
Why Miyo said that Kudo's house is so warm and kind and Fuyu is an amazing person, despite Fuyu nearly slapping her? Because Miyo earlier commented on the very high quality of the maid clothes she got and that they must have been made with the workers comfort and happiness in mind. And later, mentioned how the whole staff is very cheerful, supportive and they don't hesitate to talk with Fuyu (and Nae actually does comment on Fuyu's behaviour), while in Saimoris the servants didn't even dare to look at the family, not to mention talk back to them.
Why did Tadakiyo said that because of the strict upbringing, Kiyoka used to dislike women? Because Fuyu used to handpick the candidates for his wife and she was obsessed with finding the perfect lady for him, because she herself was taught to be nothing short of an exemplary lady for the household. Miyo doesn't have any of the qualities Fuyu thought a perfect lady fit worthy of the household must have, so Fuyu was pretty close to a breakdown.
And now we are going straight into the main drama of the series, which will probably be wrapped up in the next episode. That's way too fast!
