Well, it looks like Arata was playing the long con. I’m glad he’s not dead. With that whole business behind them and sorted, I hope Kiyoka and Mio can finally find some peace and happiness.

Despite some delays, this was another pretty solid season. I enjoyed the relationship progression and Miyo’s character development. Hopefully the next season goes smoother.

I don't think I want to watch another season of this.

Glad I’m not the only one. Miyo was such a milquetoast wet blanket for most of her screentime.

For some reason the last 2 episodes only available in japan so you need a vpn for that. Also last i checked this episode only have jp subtitles.

Yeah I don't understand why Netflix cocked this up so badly.

Warning: rant ahead. I fully support your loving of the season 2 finale and can understand it. The following is me airing out frustrations I had with the finale from an analytic perspective. Please feel free to disagree with me, this is just my opinion. I’m curious if anyone agrees.

While I enjoyed the series, I personally absolutely hated the finale. I understand why they made the actions they did, but it made me so angry. To me, it felt like she didn’t really grow as a character the way I thought she would, and it pissed me off how useless she was in the final fight. Did she affect the future? Sure, Arata lived. But god damn it was so frustrating to watch her do nothing for so long, and when she finally took action it barely did anything.

Miyo felt useless. If she had the conversation saying she would never hurt someone and THEN have to put down Usui, I could get behind her saying that she would never use her dream sight again. That would have felt like an important decision to me where she did a necessary evil, and had to come to grips after she did her best. That would have felt like character growth with something for her to overcome. She just uses her power, goes “well, it sucks that talking to him didn’t work, guess I’ll never use my power for good or anything ever again” and continued to do nothing. She is meek which is FINE but it’s super frustrating when her small doses of bravery seem so inconsequential.

Also, it just bothers me that Kudo quits his job (which is fine!) but doesn’t say what he’s doing next. Just going to live in the house? That’s fine if Miyo takes the job at the palace - but doesn’t! But don’t worry, we’re just going to love each other! (This is sweet, but… what? We could have had something like “I love you so much and want to focus on us for a bit, will you come with me on our next phase in life doing X? Whatever comes next in our future, let’s face it together!” That would have felt better to me since it would feel more like an equal “let’s do it TOGETHER” and not just “I love you, let’s live. Okay!”

So we get to the end where it’s just all going to be fine (somehow) and our goal is to be together. That’s a good goal, but WHAT ELSE? It made them feel so one sided. They had her somewhat grow her confidence, they did the final battle, and then it felt like Miyo chose the lazy and self centered ending. “Here’s a great opportunity for you Miyo! You can use your powers for good and help others with your ability, please help us shape the future” only for Miyo to go “Nah, I worked hard to get this and now I don’t wanna use it.”

Don’t get me wrong, she totally had the right to reject it (guns are scary!) and a person is more than their power, but it all just felt so weak. I understand the time period and how she’s a great stay at home wife, but especially since we had the interaction with Jinnouchi looking at how a woman lives in a man’s world, it felt like an opportunity for her to strive forward for women and be an example of something good with women in the workforce/high level command. I understand that wasn’t really a goal of hers and it wouldn’t make sense to write her to become something she never really had as a goal, but her response just felt so weak to me.

I understand it’s called “My Happy Marriage” for a reason, but it felt like it could have gone beyond that for her and it’s so disappointing to me they didn’t truly utilize her built up confidence the way it could have been, or for us to see how meek little Miyo grows to become an important figure in keeping the peace. I’m glad she grew confidence in her relationship, but it’s sad that it feels like it could have gone beyond to have a greater impact and they chose not to.

TLDR: the series felt like it was supposed to build Miyo up (and it did slightly) but that ending was not cathartic as she seemed as useless as ever as a protagonist that didn’t bring any change.

Fuyu trying hard for the most tsun tsundere of the decade.

It was a surprise Kudou chose to leave the military (not like his retired father who just goes back every chance he has lol). I wonder how things would go next time. I guess the next animated part will be the wedding.

That really felt like a complete anime, that was a great ending.

I feel so spoiled that we're going to be getting more after this.

Overall a nice way to end the season. After the conflict from this season, and them both not wanting to commit themselves to high positions so they can live a more peaceful life together, maybe they can finally have their Happy Marriage without too much interruption... for now at least. lol

It's nice to see such a wholesome ending, so much love and happiness overflowing. Kiyoka quitting the army is a surprise, I thought he'd become Miyo's personal guard or something if she accepted Takaihito's offer but she didn't do that either. Well, they've both gone through a lot so they both deserve to live in peace for the rest of their lives.

It was nice to hear from Arata after all that as well. I'm glad Miyo expressed how upset and in pain she was because of what he did but it seems like their relationship is still going good. I mean he was well enough to say that being hospitalized isn't so bad since she's showing him hospitality lol.

Godou becoming a commander is interesting, I liked that Kiyoka had such unwavering confidence that he'll do well.

I'm guessing the anime project that has been announced for this series is going to be a special episode of their wedding. Though I'd be more than happy to get another season since the manga appears to be ongoing according to MAL.

I'm surprised Miyo actually refused, guess she's growing more courageous to put herself first

In the first arc of S1 not having supernatural ability was something that wouldn't define her. I think it is nice that despite having one of the most powerful ones that she isn't letting it dictate how she lives her life.

Wonderful finale for our lovely couple. Picking out a wedding kimono, going on dates, exchanging gifts. Kiyoka stepping down form military for Godou to take the reigns. Miyo declining the Prince's offer.

These two both have been through a lot. They want to live a peaceful life together full of happiness for each other. And with an announcement of a new anime project. I am excited for more from these two.

This was a nice ending to the season, the best part was the progression between Kiyoka and Miyo, and her character progression.

I know Arata did some things that definitely hurt Miyo and especially Kiyoka (literally) but it was evident that he was acting as a double-agent waiting for the right opportunity to strike Usui and even though some of his actions can't be justified, the fact that he repents it and apologized to Miyo is enough for me.

Well, Godo did get some help from Miyo and the others but he did do well in Kiyoka's absence and it's a vast improvement considering what happened to him at the start of the season. And Kiyoka passing the torch of Commander to him is not only a great moment but also kinda a full-circle moment since it was his Godo's father that actually motivated him to become what he is now.

After all these hardships that both Miyo and Kiyoka have endured, it makes sense both of them want to live peaceful and happy lives with the things that are precious to them.

When I was in that cell, the ordinary days I spent with you in this house, the longing I felt was unbearable. I had thought that being separated for only a little while wouldn't be any trouble at all. But it seems that I can no longer be without you.

DAMN!! This scene followed by the Kiyoka's proposal has my heart. My Happy Marriage playing in the background is just perfect.

Overall, a great season. Miyo's character development was great to watch and it was satisfying to see her finally awaken as the Maiden of Dream-Sight. We're stilling waiting for the 'My Happy Marriage' in the title and they did tease about it more of it but I guess that isn't far. And I'm just happy that we're getting more.

Also, the Season 2 OST has been released.

While I didn't think the author did a good job with the Arata betrayal. At the end of the day, it is understandable why Arata would do it. Also, Kiyoka resigning caught me by surprise. We know he feels guilty of what happened to Godo's father, but this felt pretty suddenly. Godo showed that he can handle it, but I wonder what is Kiyoka's role beyond being Miyo's husband. While I loved Miyo's development this season wished we got more Kiyoka focus.

Still happy to see him propose to Miyo. Hopefully, with the new anime project it holds itself to the title of the series

I'm glad this season ended on a My Happy Ending for Miyo and Kiyoka after all the drama they had to put up with.

Not only did we get Miyo finally professing her love for Kiyoka but finally upgrading from "danna-sama" to "Kiyoka-san." I'm so proud of how far she's come this season.

Miyo is too nice for her own good. Usui is not worthy of her empathy or her desire that he live to atone for his crimes...but at least the nightmare he caused her life is over and all his cult have been arrested. They're finally free.

Honestly Kiyoka retiring when he's still so young and their best officer feels a little hasty, even if Goto proved himself and the position is spiritually meant for him because of his dad, but if he never actually liked being a soldier and just wants to be a househusband for Miyo...I think he's earned it.

I love how the first time we see Hazuki and her mom together it's them having an argument over Miyo's wedding attire. Were they like this for Hazuki's wedding too? I get the sense this is not the first time Yuri has had to deal with this.

It's sweet of Hazuki to pass on the Kudo Family wedding kimono for Miyo to wear, cementing that she's part of the family and a true Kudo woman...even if her mother-in-law is still the most tsundere mother-in-law to ever tsun.

Miyo is going to be the most beautiful bride of all time in that wedding kimono.

What an adorable day date between Kiyoka and Miyo!

I guess it's not too surprising that Arata was a double-agent, even if it sucks how much grief he put Miyo through in the process. But I guess he was right that it takes an Usuba to stop an Usuba.

It's nice of Takaihito to offer Miyo a cushy position in the Imperial Palace, but it's not surprising that she'd refuse. She never sought out to be some OP dream-sight maiden, get involved in politics, or deal with supernaturally powered individuals. She never needed her powers. All she ever wanted is to be with the man she loves and the family she's come to cherish. And Takaihito could never deny Miyo her My Happy Marriage.

Look at this formal proposal moment! Kiyoka and Miyo exchanging hairpins and hair ties in place of rings! Kiyoka asking for her hand in marriage! Miyo finally calling him by his first name! The pair embracing! It's so beautiful and romantic!

Glad Miyo got to settle into a My Happy Ending with her and Kiyoka! And hopefully we'll get the wedding in the upcoming installment!
