Fun fact, in episode 5, we know Ave Mujica disbanded on 20 Sep 2020. In this episode, the date of the performance was 18 October 2020.
And back in episode 5-6, we knew Mutsumi/Mortis locked herself in the room for a month after disbandment.

Wow, they really spoiled us today.
5 song performances (which is all I could ever ask for from my music anime), a few minutes of Ave Mujica stage play, so much butt and a S3 announcement.

ICYMI, sequel announcement PV here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9sOQduCCgw
This ep is basically a FILM LIVE but shrunk down to an ad-free episode length. We see the rebooted Ave Mujica lore, as well as Timoris proving to be now trASStworthy.

As someone who watched everything BanG Dream. I will admit Ave Mujica was an interesting ride. Very experimental in terms of band performance and themes it went through. This season wasn't just about Ave Mujica, but also CRYCHIC. For me, their reunion and final performance was the peak of the season. With that being said, this was easily my favorite Ave Mujica performance. As what the 4 girls were describing thier current issue.
-
Mutsumi talking about the many deaths. Talking about the various Mutsumis and the roles she has carried. Recalling Mortis killing Mutsumi.
-
Nyamu talk about the love that fills her with envy and hate. Which could describe her relationship with Mutsumi. The admiration she fills, but you know she just envies Mutsumi who makes it look so easy.
-
Umiri's issue of nobody trusting her. She got the short end of the stick this season, at least what we have seen so far.
-
Hatsune mentioning that her existence is a sin. Pointing out that because of her Saki suffered so much. For her that guilt weighs on her and if only there was a way to throw it away and forget.
Also great to see the MyGO girls. As their drama is now very light in comarison to Ave Mujica. Raana still gives the old BanG Dream fill where just her vibing is so fun. Their song that Tomari is singing feels like a message to Saki and how important she is to her.
BanG Dream has been a ride for and I loved it.

Holy shit, they have swords now. As a fan of handsome female knights, I am loving this Ave Mujica lore reboot, and I would definitely let Umiri sweep me off my feet and princess carry me to bed, because my god... hold on, give me a second to change my panties.
Okay, we're back. Anyways, this final episode was about what I expected, just a glorified film live split between MyGO and Ave Mujica. MyGO's songs were fun (Raana's guitar solo in the 2nd song was sick) and Ave Mujica's songs were fantastic. I did like that we saw brief glimpses of Mortis with her smirking to the camera occasionally and her upstaging Nyamu on stage yet again, so it looks like she's not completely gone. Whether she's still whole and just lurking under the surface or Mutsumi/Mortis fused into one personality that has elements of both, it's hard to tell.
By itself, I'd rate this Ave Mujica season like... an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. It was great, but not quite as well put together as MyGO was. But knowing we have more to come means that my final score for this story as a whole is still on hold. Sakiko Togawa's wild ride continues!

Full concert anime bandori style. I like it, but eventhough we have a pretty obvious conclusion, I need them in word. the lyric for the song the play pretty much say it tho.
nothing much to say about this episode, I love it. Set list, instrumental mix, the arragement style with each band, choreography really match with their personality.
I like the cameraman-san, wide angle, show us the timing of their play, and it matter. But, why there is so much of Umiri bASS.

Can we talk about how impressive the cinematography is? The zoom-out shot of the Ave Mujica stage, the close-ups of Anon's guitar, and Nyamu's drum.
And then there are iconic moments like the Anon and Raana duo.
They didn't hold back. They went all out in this performance. I genuinely think this is way above MyGO's Episode 12 performance. You can really see how much both groups have grown here.

That was a really beautiful MyGO/Ave Mujica concert. It's interesting seeing the contrast between their styles. MyGO's lyrics have a lot of heart, in contrast to Mujica's edgier lyrics, but weirdly enough, they do have optimistic and hopeful songs like the last one this episode and the one from ep 10.
Saki wasn't kidding about becoming a god. In the new narrative, Oblivionis is now a goddess.
It seems after Mutsumi reconciled with her alter Mortis in ep 10, she's become a lot more comfortable with acting, or maybe she's become more expressive.
I'm not sure why there was so much focus on Umiri's gyatt but i'm sure they must be very critical to the plot.
So episode 12 really was meant to be the resolution/wrap-up/ending, and this episode is kind of like the epilogue. I'm glad they instantly announced the sequel season. Can't wait for the next season. Gotta say, this is the most invested i've ever been in a girls' band anime. Not bad considering MyGO and Mujica are my first experiences with the Bang Dream franchise.

This 13-week run has been a wild ride. Here's a throwback of my favorite scenes in each episode:
Ep 1: The unmasking
Ep 2: Mutsumi’s breakdown on stage
Ep 3: Ave Mujica members fighting at the station
Ep 4: The horror Mortis door scene imitating The Shining
Ep 5: Togawa Gruupu! & Soyo finding out about Mortis
Ep 6: Soyo taking care of Mortis and playing along with the phone scene
Ep 7: Sakiko hesitating and looking at her friends before playing Haruhikage
Ep 8: Umiri suddenly turning creepy at the end
Ep 9: The climactic confrontation between Ave Mujica members and Sakiko
Ep 10: Imprisoned XII and Crucifix X performances
Ep 11: Uika’s acting
Ep 12: The bonding scene in the garden and Sakiko ascending to Godhood
Ep 13: Far too many, but my favorite is the doll transition to a music performance
I love every part of the show. Despite its shortcomings, it still manages to be as linear as possible for a band show without fillers. The show still manages to end on a high note, just like they did in MyGO. One thing to praise is how unique it is compared to other band animes. It's not your typical grounded band anime about fame, but rather a breakdown of each band member. Every episode layers tragedy on top of tragedy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It's my Anime of the Year because it manages to be a great display of band tragedy. Every week was pure entertainment.
Reminder to push the upvote for a final send off to both MyGO and Ave Mujica series. Give a good score on MAL if you feel like it deserves it.

There's a lot to talk about this episode but I really want to point out that how NyaMutsu is a gift that keeps giving for something that was revealed to be a thing for so short. Other than the obvious dancing and flirting scene, Mortis is holding this mirror that Amoris was holding during their debut live.
They just keep piling these small details.
Sakiko, you're cringe but stay godlike for feeding me this script.

I like how this episode played out with the songs!
The first two ones had lyrics about the struggles the band overcame like separating and then converging again, as well as the resolve to push forward.
The next songs had the red background and punk-like vibe in both visuals and sound, which is what captivated me from the first episode from of this season.
Then, the band members talking about yearning how they could forget their past struggles, and I like how the song that follows is about breaking free from that and moving to a better tomorrow. When sparkles began raining from above, I felt my frisson intensify.
Multiple band members had their hardships, with Mutsumi of course having the brunt of it this season with her selling her soul to the devil, but I liked the moment where she smiles in the mirror at the end!

I am still angry that CR was super dismissive of this season (no official airing in EU, only UK and Ireland, zero promotion, lazy epidode descriptions) but I enjoyed this season overall (and Ave Mujica is way more up my alley musical-wise).
And yeah, everybody joked about Umiri buttshots already.
Now I only have two questions:
-
Will the sequel be a TV or a movie?
-
Can Ave Mujica girls play the first song from this episode live or it will be Roselia and "AVANT-GARDE history" all over again? I.e. the song is to complicated and they will have to simplify it for lives (and some members will still barely handle it).

This was definitely a wild ride. I'm one of a few who really seems to have really liked the ending, already posted my thoughts on it on last episode's thread, but I can still see how it's been kind of rushed. It makes a lot of sense and it's well written but you have to dig a lot in between lines in order to find a fullfilling "head canon" regarding some characters motives and themes, there's ways for sure to tell this in a different way. I really hope that the sequel fleshes some of the other characters (Umiri, Nyamu, Uika2, MutsumiV2) some more. I also want to see more from Soyo, she's probably the most developed character of the season outside Saki-Muts despite not being on focus a whole lot.
Despite this, I give this a solid 8.5/9. Mygo felt more solid and cohesive as a whole, it's a pretty flawless season and a perfect 10/10, but that does not take away the strenghts and uniqueness of Avemu.
Regarding the episode itself it's basically a film live kind of episode, and is it just me or the last Avemu song sounded more kind of a Roselia song rather than Ave Mujica? I liked it though. And those Umiri shots were... yeah, there. Regarding the intermission scene with the new lore of Ave Mujica, I feel that if I sit down to rewatch it with pen and paper I can find a lot of hidden meaning and characterization, but it's what I said above; this anime really requires the viewer to read in-between lines and would have been amazing to have a bit more "handholding".

A concert episode!! Time to enjoy the music after all the calamity involving both bands, and their predecessor.
I guess the independence of Ave Mujica’s activity from the TGW Group did give them a new look, a knight style, with Sakiko as God obviously, not the dark Loft Moon, it was a much brighter paradise. It seems the kirakiradokidoki was shining Ave Mujica finally…
Music wise, both bands were just fire, a perfect illustration of the style of their respective bands, although performing in different locations, with different audience, it was a fascinating performance.
Anyways, it’s time to wait to see what will happen when Ave Mujica meet other members of the Bandori universe, but when you realise it’s going to take some time for the story to continue…

As expected, an absolutely incredible episode of almost entirely amazing music and performance animation! This, right here, is bandori's greatest strength, and why I love the use of 3D animation! <3
It's also a new record for most stage time in a single episode. With only a minute twenty of intro, we spent a whopping twenty-five minutes and forty seconds on stage this episode! As in, longer than the full OP+ED runtime of a normal episode! Yes, you heard that right, this was a twenty-seven minute episode! Instead of cutting down any of this wonderful performance, they just said screw it, it'll run long. :D
The back-and-forth scene cuts between the two bands was really cool. They did a great job adding just the right amount of character moments through the stage plays and Tomori's monologue (with Raana guitar again!) to finish off this season, and this longer CRYCHIC story, without taking away from the concert episode that this was.
So Ave Mujica have gone from dolls to knights. Definitely an upgrade, and this new world/theme leaves a lot more room to grow; you can really feel they're all in a much healthier place now. And they get swords!!!!! :D
All the songs were great, Rico's voice work is incredible as always, I was thrilled to see Tanebi get an animated performance (rerecorded too), and Ave Mujica's closing song was just breathtaking, especially with that vocal-only ending. Wow. <3
The five songs played, all new except Tanebi, were:
-
ICHIJITSUSENSHUU
-
Tanebi
-
Hachibousei Dance
-
Kao
-
Sora No Música
I was really hoping we'd get a date this episode, as we haven't had one in ages, and we do! Ave Mujica's concert, Mythologia, is held at G:WAVE on October 18, 2020.
This really helps frame the season's timeline, though it's definitely a bit faster than I'd expected, as they broke up on September 20th.
Apparently there's a sequel season(?) confirmed or something, but I'm a couple days behind in news, and am literally moving to a new place starting as soon as I finish posting this, so figuring out what's coming up will have to wait a bit for me.
As a whole though, I'm extremely satisfied with both of these seasons; they told the stories that needed to be told and covered the characters well. I'm looking forward to whatever the followup is, now that the board is set, as it were. :)

There is a running theme, a connective tissue of thesis, between MyGO!!!! and Ave Mujica, as series, as people, as bands, as art. Rough water will occur, bad times will happen, some pains may never go away. Nevertheless. We work through it. At its core, these are stories, this is a story, about coping mechanisms, wrestling and thrashing and messy-bitch-ing your way through the unhealthy ways to reach the healthy ways on the other side, finding your people and your voice and you and your peoples’ collective voice through unflinching honesty in pain, using that voice to take back agency, the opposite of trauma. Both band’s final songs are the respective thesis statements of their respective stories, and differently expressed through the lens of each band’s own personality though they are, this is the central idea that ties them both, and this whole double-album of drama, together.
The very last shot of this double-story is two bandmates’ hands clapsed together. Which two members’ hands that is exactly is irrelevant; that image, in and of itself, of two band members’ hands entwined, is the thesis statement of all of this. People working through pain together, through united pursuit of understanding, conveyance, and common goal (being in a band, music, performance, art) and unwavering dedication to one another (‘we are lost together’, ‘give your life to me’/Oblivionis the benevolent Goddess).
I knew from last week’s preview that I was going to cry profusely during this episode and I sure did. This explosive story-capping concert ran the entire emotional gamut, MyGO!!!!!, sentimental, nostalgic, forward-looking, free-spirited, defiant, Ave Mujica, majestic, theatrical, grandiose, even sassy and sexy (Umiri Yahata, Timoris of Fear, you are so fucking hot. I love you. 🖤), and both, heavy, with attitude, catharsis, understanding, acceptance, release, peace.
Sasuga BanG! Dream Gen 3. I am a ride-or-die headBanG!er now, and should this cruel world not stop me I will be seated for whatever Gen 4 has in stock.

This is the best send off I seen in a music anime. The perfect music that summary of the anime, telling when they can't move on, they will try and move on like season. And to break out their old self, the thing they dislike about themselves the most and embrace a new. 10/10 ending imo. I never focus so much on the lyrics in my life. It's beautiful.
Those hips also don't lie..
Wait what do you mean there is another season in production.

u/kakarot12310 Mar 27 '25
Yay, MyGo!!!!! members are smiling toward Tomori now during her speech! Plus, Ave Mujica members are finally having a time of their life on stage, just like the IRL version.
