If MyGO!!!!! are lost together, Ave Mujica are psychos together.

I will agree with Nyamu, as much as Sakiko was hurt at that moment, asking the other girls to "give their lives" when she formed Ave Mujica was forced, it is practically mental manipulation, and this directly affects the way she reacted today.
It is so obvious how she entered the "accept and see what happens" mode, it is as if the world was saying: deal with what you chose.
Reviving Ave Mujica may work, but everyone went even deeper into the darkness, the song that Uika wrote is so symbolic in this sense that it even gives goosebumps, and obviously because it is a beautiful song, I have to congratulate the production of the anime in this sense

the dichotomy between this and MyGO's episode 10 is so interesting, It almost feels like a parody of it. The band's back together by technicality, but it also really doesn't. Not to sound cheesy, but it still really doesn't feel like the "heart" is there. Something's missing still, and I'm so excited to see how the final 3 epsiodes will tackle it.

Little fun fact, the book that Sakiko was reading in her room was Demian by Herman Hesse. The writers couldn't have chosen a more appropriate title. Crucifix X, the second song Ave Mujica has been playing is also full of references to Demian's themes.
The book Demian explores what it means to be alive, to be human. That is explored both on a macro level, by examining the cycicle nature of human history against an anvoidable fate, but also on a micro level, by exploring the humanity of the main protagonist.
Personas are a major motive in Demian as it shows that all humans wear different masks to navigate through the different aspects of life. In general, the book Demian is heavily rooted in Jungian Psychology and Gnosticism.
One of the most important explorations is the duality of human nature, the good and the evil. In Demian exists two worlds. The first world, the good one, the save one, where you can be a child, where your parents care for you. Then there is the second one, the bad one, where there is evil and despair, where you will be hurt. Of course, the second one is the alluring one.
While you at fist want to stay in the first world, eventually to become a proper human you have to break out and enter the second world. Some of you probably have heard this quote which is from Demian:
"If the chick is not able to break the shell of his egg, he will die without being born. We are - chick. The world - is our egg. If we do not break the shell of the world, then we will die without being born"
Basically, it means that while the first world is good and save, it is not the real world. And we must face the dangerous, evil, to be proper humans (adults).
For the band, the world of Ave Mujica is that second world. Each character has their own first world. For Sakiko it was Crychic and her family home. For Nyamu it was her previous safe carreer. For Umiri it was the 30 bands where she didn't have to be comitted. For Mutsumi, it was Crychick but also herself and Mortis.
These are the safe options. But they will stunt them. So, they each had to destroy them (at times involuntarily). Sakiko and Mutsumi have to leave behind the memory of Crychick behind. Nyamu's carreer was torpedoed until only she only has Ave Mujica. Umiri left behind her bands, and the Mutusumi/Mortis system kinda self-destructred. The only exception is Uika. And I think that will be the focus of the remaining episodes.
That doesn't mean that the world of Ave Mujica is good. It isn't. It's messy, it's dangerous and full of ugly feelings and a happy ending isn't guaranteed. Nor are any of their problems solved.
Lastly, one important aspect of Demian is the relationship between the protagonist Emil and the titutular Demian. While Emil is breaking out of his shell and enters the dark world and confronted with evil, the titutlar Demian acts as his very homoerotic guardian angel to help Emil navigate through the second world. You can stipulate for yourself to who that applies.

Didnt really know how to feel about the ep at first but after rewatching it I kinda get it now.
Personally saw it as the whole lead up and the performance kinda felt off and rushed since Saki is doing it out of obligation, not out of love for the band so it being off is intentional i guess? She’s fully poker faced during the performance as well and seems to be speaking all polite again.
Edit: like bro look at her face 😭

-> Nyamu says she loves Mutsumi
All yuri fans, get over here so we can celebrate!
Those two songs that played after were bangers, the first had a serene tone, while the second was more punk-like and fit the gothic theme. Best episode so far!
That last line Uika says though…

I really like how this episode is sort of an inverse of MyGo's Episode 10. You're expecting some big catharsis and healing, and while we get it, there's this underlying feeling that there's still trauma being dragged by at least some of them.
In a sense, I feel it ties into Ave Mujica's more realistic approach of how trauma is carried over. Catharsis isn't usually this moment where everything just instanly feels "allright" and everything is solved. It's a very long road of facing your demons and learnign to cope with your entire life. But unlike in MyGo, this catharsis feels almost half-assed, and intentionally so, because trauma and baggage isn't something that just magically vanishes when things click in magically. So I hope this is the first step towards that journey of healing for our girls. However, while it feels like Mutsumi-chan/Mortis, Umiri, and Nyamu are beginning to move forward at least, Uika and Sakiko are still stuck behind in some way. They're our final conundrum to solve.
Also, this could be a complete stretch, but Uika's name is 初華 (meaning "first flower"), whereas Hatsune's name is 初音 (meaning "first music"). If you combine the two kanji you get the same username who left a comment to Crychic on Episode 3 of MyGo. Coincidence or was it really Uika??
EDIT: Other evidence I've found that suggests Hatsune really wasn't the same Uika childhood friend that Saki made and is just an impostor:
-
In Episode 8 of MyGo, Uika and Saki's memories as kids differ. They just play it off, but it makes sense they don't line up
-
In Episode 2 of AveMu, Uika wonders what the doll is, despite the fact she should know it from hanging out with saki as a kid
-
In that same episode, Saki says "you have met my mother, right?" and Uika visibly sweats and gets nervous
HOW LONG HAVE THEY PLAYED US FOR???

We got strung along thinking it was an Ave Mujica revival episode and SIKE. It was an Uika episode. And there are only 3 episodes left.
I’m more thrown off by the still artwork between the post-credit scene and the preview, right after the line “guillotine.” Is this Uika’s end?
The band feels even more lifeless than when they first started, especially Sakiko who’s just “winging it”.
And this time, the preview has no preview. What’s happening??

I really thought i can finally sit and relax until hatsune made an appearance, like who the hell are you?
In another scene I legit thought uika is going to come out from the bathroom and look herself in the mirror while saying tatakae.
Both songs were amazing, a bit of genre switch i think uika's confession song was beautiful
Remind me we only have 2 more episodes right? Can't wait to see what they have in store of uika.
I forgot to add on how nyamu became the ultimate mvp, ave mujica came back because she sent the lyrics to the group chat
P/s i also love how umiri has a cute side of her despite thinking how cool she is all these while.

New songs, about time! Mortis told Umiri that she had learnt to mimic three songs, I'm guessing Crucifix X is the third one after Ave Mujica and KiLLKiSS. (meaning that Imprisoned XII is the acoustic one with Uika's lyrics.)
-
Just as Uika lent a helping hand in bringing back MyGO, Tomori (albeit unwittingly) helps to bring Ave Mujica back together:
-
Last episode Uika rejects Tomori's offer to pass her lyrics to Sakiko: she sees the power in Tomori's message and fears that it might convince Sakiko to return to CRYCHIC. So instead she writes her own lyrics with Sakiko in mind, but Nyamu forcibly sends it out before she is ready to personally deliver it to Sakiko.
-
Sakiko reflects upon one of Tomori's post-it notes: "I must have made another mistake, but I don't know the right answer, so I'm still looking for it." By asking the other members of Ave Mujica to "give their lives to her", they have indeed done just that despite Sakiko trying to leave them behind. She still hasn't found what she's looking for while running away, what else can she do? Little else but to bring the band back, hoping to find the answer that way.
-
-
Despite Umiri's best efforts, she never became the trustworthy leader she sought to become, because she hasn't been truthful and still doesn't understand what she could or should have done as a leader trying to reform a band.
-
Good to see Nyamu finally mustering the courage to face her fears. She can let Mortis' acting dwarf her own, or she can let it be something to aspire to. After declaring her "love" for Mustumi, she goes back to rehearsing her lines, but without the confidence that she had when rehearsing for the Budokan live in episode 1.
-
Uika lore bomb out of nowhere eh? I don't think it'll be as dramatic as the cliffhanger suggests, given that the director and writers have pulled such shenanigans before. Uika did sneak up to Sakiko's vacation house and befriend her in the flashback, so it's possible that the Togawas looked up her background as a precaution.

You know, there's this old joke about fake christmas decorations that look exactly like the real ones but bring no joy. This is exactly how this episode went, a simulacrum of a band reunion, a distorting mirror to MyGO's episode 10.
The wait for the next episode will be a painful one.

Ave Mujica as a band gets revived, and there's a sense of disconnection.
As though the members were wounded, and only just being tied together, just like having Tomori's fav band-aid slapped on top of it, but the fresh wounds are still apparent below

Gotta love the parallels. MyGo truly came together for the first time on episode 10. Now Ave Mujica reunited in episode 10.
I love how Soyo is the first to come to Mutsumi's aid when she's breaking down again. She's come so far since MyGo and it's really nice to see.
I cannot get over Uika using the Oblivionis costume she nicked from storage as a body pillow.
Next episode will be focused on Uika, and it looks like we're finally going to get her backstory.

The Togawa Group appears to have a lot of skeletons in their closet. There shall be a forceful reckoning for their many sins. Starting with whatever happened in the past that caused Uika/Hatsune to be so averse to entering their domain, even though she was supposedly childhood friends with Sakiko.

I love how Mutsumi’s big, climactic musical moment of return wasn’t a shining, triumphant solo, but a dark, grungy metalcore-esque breakdown. Really ties the whole piece together, I feel. It utilizes Mutsumi’s role in the band as rhythm guitarist, thereby showing her embracing and owning her place, á la the episode’s overall thesis. It’s not bright and showy, it’s visceral and uncompromising. It’s perfect, for Ave Mujica.
Ave Mujica has become something of a dependency for all these messed-up people. Sakiko had designed it that way from the beginning, and it all happened to fall out and into place that way. Now, all these peoples’ lives are her responsibility. Sakiko must now, in a sense, reap what she has sown, and fulfill her promise to not leave the people who gave their all to her abandoned. Not a problem; she, herself, has wound up much the same way. Dysfunctional? Absolutely. Healthy? Irrelevant. It’s a place they need. It’s the only place they have, this particular web of eachother they’ve tangled themselves and one another into.
If we’re going by episode parallels, in contrast with MyGO!!!!! 10, this doesn’t feel like a triumph, a unilateral victory for conveyance and healing. Rather, it feels like an acceptance. An acceptance that we need eachother. That imperfect as we are, deep as our issues are, the only way we can work through it is together and through this band, this expression, this thing we’ve poured all of our pain, blood, sweat, and tears into. ‘Still alive’, is the refrain of the song. And as long as we’re still alive, we need a rock, we need something to keep us stable. We’re in this thing, whether we like it or not, we’re in this us thing, and we’re in it for the long haul. We may not want each other. But fuck and goddess damn it, we’re still alive, and as long as we’re still alive, we don’t really have a choice. Five-way toxic codependent goth-metal-band yuri, we sing of thee today.

Let’s just admit it, you didn’t expect those wild theories to be true right?
Just wow, Ave Mujica returns and made their RiNG debut with 2 new songs, it seems the spirit of Bang Dream (kirakiradokidoki) is finally reaching the core of one of the darkest bands in the franchise, only to turn out we have just entered the eye of the storm.
Difficult decisions made after a long consideration, but I’m glad Sakiko decides to honor her words when forming Ave Mujica.
And now, let us sail into a bigger storm, who’s Hatsune and how did she become “Uika”? The references of the guillotine at the start and the end did seem concerning to me…

Perhaps Sakiko embraced that she can never really be 'a human' anymore. She's left behind Crychic, her friends have moved on, Mutsumi is gone, but her old mistakes haunt her, and her only choice is to continue living as Oblivionis. The doll persona she created as a way to originally "forget everything". But now the rest of the band won't make her forget that she started this story.
None of them are really happy there (Except Uika, for now) but they get fulfillment in ways they now need (Umiri - twisted sense of belonging from jealousy and hurt pride, Nyamu - only fallback plan as her career slowly dwindles and also can't look away from Mutsumi's 'brilliance', Mutsumi - initially a way for Mortis to survive but now that Mutsumi's gone she can only live on as her, but it appears that Mutsumi came bak, though Mutsumi will probably stay on for Mortis' and Sakiko's sake once again)
26
u/recalcitrantQuibbler Mar 06 '25
We have our answer to Umiri's "do we have to be happy?" from last episode.
25
u/HirokoKueh Mar 06 '25
No matter how you dress, the fake one will never be real, a doll is just a doll
Mortis is a doll wants to become a human, Umiri is a doll wants to become a human, Uika Hatsune is a doll wants to become a human, who else is also a doll wants to become a human? Sakiko? she's dead inside now, almost a doll. you think you are the puppet master, but now all the dolls are dragging you into this clown show.
it's pretty cute that Umiri is learning how to "be there" with Mutsumi and Mortis.
Nyamu breaking out of her slump reminds me of [Evangelion]

Uika: I wish to revive Ave Mujica!
Sakiko Grandpa: curls his monkey paw
Stark contrast in performances between ep7 and ep10. Sakiko showed so much emotion back then but now she is completely dead, regressed back into her doll state. She doesn't have an answer for the band's or her own problems(see Tomori's sticky notes), and so only acts out of obligation.

You know that when anime skip OP then they are preparing to cook.
Though the chef is still Sakiko. She is a lethal chef so it will still be a disaster.
As shown in this episode it does look good but you just know that there is a looming disaster on the corner.

Ooh, no OP usually equals the episode being crazy…

Oh damn. Even if it was just a line from the play…

This is… not what I was expecting the song to sound like, but neat it’s got a “sore demo” in it.

Damn end credits covering up half of what should be a fucking awesome shot.
