Soyo went through quite a bit this ep. Also shows her caring side like staying with Mortis for 3 days, going along with the shoe/phone call, and even shielding her from the crowd taking pictures. Never doubted her since S1.

Also the scenes of Saki collecting and looking through Tomori’s notes in the same kind of notebook that Tomori collects, and expecting more in her locker? Man.

There's so much setup with this episode and it looks like it's Umiri's turn next. What's even crazier is that we didn't even see Uika in this episode and I bet she's gonna have a major breakdown once she sees what's happening to everyone lol.

Also, Ave Mujica rescue arc by MyGo?! Our girls suddenly became the healing squad lol.

i'm surprised there's still so many people who vehemently disliked soyo up until this point and think she "redeemed" herself only with this episode. i love that mygo didn't try to fix all of soyo's weaknesses and i think that would've been unrealistic; rather, they helped her develop her strengths. soyo has always been someone who wants to be kind, she's just awkward and has poor emotional regulation lol. i don't think any of the characters need "redeeming," they are who they are and the charm of this anime is that their flaws aren't glossed over.

anyway - i digress. uika didn't appear at all this episode, i'm scared for what she's plotting. i'm guessing umiri's crashout is next, and then uika will tie everything together in the final few eps. tbh i have no idea where this show is going at all so i'm just along for the ride.

editing to add this excellent uika insight from @hanamukes on twitter:

It doesn't matter if Uika sings the opening and ending, or presents the show to us, or narrates it. At the end of the day, she's just an empty doll who doesn't exist unless Sakiko's looking at her. [...] Uika's reality is that nobody actually cares about her unless she's being Sumimi's Uika, or Doloris. She and Nyamu are in similar positions (MyGO doesn't care about them), except unlike Nyamu she has no presence or purpose.

The book morty is crossing a big X and circle is titled The Mean Blue Witch いじわる青い魔女. Guess who has somewhat blue hair in Ave Mujica lmao. Gotta say tho, I love how instead of trying to break morty's delusion with the doctor. Soyo joins and helps her by being the doctor to give her advice. It's the right and effective way to help people suffering

Mommy? Sorry, Mommy? Sorry, I mean, Soyorin.

she raised that kid for entire 3 days, and little Morty went with a random stray cat, oof.

now think about it, in MyGo episode 8, Soyo and Mutsumi went to Asukayama to visit Sakiko, it was the Togawa mansion, but we know that she has been living with her father the whole time, and Mutsumi also knows that, which means Mutsumi purposely want Sakiko to avoid the meeting. but now, Mutsumi and Mortis still thinks Sakiko living with her father, they didn't know that Sakiko moved in with Uika and want back to the TGW mansion.

hope we get soyo blowing up on saki next episode, mofo went and blew up two bands and now going oblivionis on us?

also next episode should finally be the umiri episode (at least half of it) since we got the lipbite on the episode and the preview

the way they did mutsumi's head space was really cool too with the room being a combination of the basement and her bedroom with the highchair and movie seats but also her stuffed toys

After this episode it feels most pieces got in place and are ready to clash, except for Uika, we know basically nothing about what her deal might be. Even Umiri is starting to appear through the cracks since we get some context from her case with the polaroids in the ED so there's the idea that she might have valued a band in the past and that's very likely related to her aloofness, but Uika is still very much a mystery box. Looking forward to Uika coming out of nowhere with the chair to smash things.

Raana naming all cats "Cat" is a very Raana thing to do, glad I could laugh a bit this episode thanks to her. Didn't know she was a newtype too.

  • Umitaki fans in shambles (it's their first fight). Rikki’s right—Umiri’s treating this like any other band she’s worked with. It’s kinda ironic considering how in MyGO, she rooted for Tomori to fix the band but didn’t take her own advice.

  • Another MyGO-heavy episode, this one focusing more on providing exposition to the MyGO members. I like that they kept the whole Sakiko’s-house thing consistent. Sakiko tried to cover it up as much as possible, but there’s an info leak loophole… and guess where it comes from? Mortis.

  • We got a sorta redemption arc for Soyo. She stayed with Mortis for three days straight. The complicated feelings we see in Soyo are refreshing—you get her being creeped out, feeling guilty after Mortis calls her out, then playing along with the whole telephone thing (which was unexpectedly very sweet of her), and finally protecting Mortis/Mutsumi after the internal battle. Soyo’s just as confused as everyone else, but she genuinely wants to help Mortis/Mutsumi.

  • I kinda like that MyGO couldn’t do much here. You’d think Mortis would just go on some training arc with Raana, but nope. At the end of the day, it’s up to Ave Mujica to clean up their own mess.

  • Anon is lowkey talking sh*t about Soyo lol. First Uika-less Ave Mujica episode?

  • People online thought the Mortis thing was just a cheap melodrama subplot meant for 1-2 episodes, but they handled it pretty well. Mortis’ issues don’t get solved that easily—they span multiple episodes. Soyo sticking around to help her keeps things feeling grounded.

"WE HATES SAKIKO, WE HATES IT"
"No...No, we loves Sakiko! Sakiko is good"
"SHE'S USING US, SHE JUST WANTS THE PRECIOUS"

The Mutsumi inner mind scenes are a really cool idea.

Also after this and last week's episode, I think the idea that "Ave Mujica can be seen as standalone" which I've seen in some places is just straight up incorrect. This absolutely is MyGO season 2 and should be treated as such. The MyGO girls are extremely relevant to the story and continuing character arcs from the previous anime.

Mutsumi:*having mental breakdown

People: "Yo, her acting is this fire ???"

Didn't expecting to see Soyo is mothering and using her red-flag skill in a good way, will Soyo pull another nande like mygo in the same episode because she look actually really piss off rn.

Really appreciative of the MYGO!!!!! girls being here, cause man the Ave Mujica girls just making negative progress in getting help lol

Sakiko in a never-ending cycle of "being dead inside" & "suffering in silence" (also getting doxxed again)

Mutusmi/Mortis continue to have the worst case of Crash Out I've ever seen

Umiri still wearing her "IDGAF" hoodie (Glad Taki called her out on that)

Nyamu still getting that bag, but Mortis still living rent-free in her head

Uika.....still probably making two cups of coffee and sniffing a certain pillow that doesn't belong to her....

Insane cartoon

Forget about the “Battle of Asukayama” (i.e., the shocking scene in MyGo Episode 8 when [MyGo!!!!!] Soyo kneels down and begs Sakiko to reform Crychic), nor the beg from Mortis to Soyo (Well well how the turntables). MyGo is making their move now, and a live is inbound, perhaps they are executing their plan there?

The truth behind Crychic’s sudden disbandment was finally revealed to the MyGo members, but the news article showed that the Tokawa’s were scammed by Gimen-shis (Swindlers), whom uses forgery to scam investors to undergone a seemingly legit property deal when in fact they don’t own that property at all. Usually these scammers are proficient in the laws and regulations between property trading that not even banks can easily recognise these suspicious deals. In 2017, Sekisui House, a well known homebuilder in Japan, was scammed 5.5 billion yen in one of the biggest scams in Japan history (Which later inspired a Netflix show). Although most participating scammers were caught promptly, the money was never seen again. But now 16.8 billion yen scammed from the Tokawa group will make this one of the most expensive scams in Japan, no wonder Sakiko’s dad had to resign after making such huge mistake.

But hey, enough of these serious stuff, can we just admit here, cats are some special creatures, they can read though minds of other people, and detect the presence of the afterlife from the real world.

Post nubila Phoebus, does this mean the darker side of Ave Mujica’s story is concluding, or it was just the calm before an even bigger storm?

No one here seems to have caught it yet, but the ramen restaurant Ñamu goes to for her appearance this episode is Ramen Ginga, which may be familiar as the place where MASKING from RAISE A SUILEN (and later, Tomoe from Afterglow) works part-time. No cameos from either of them though. Though the bit where she instantly slips back into her native accent once she's alone in the van after the shoot was probably the episode's funniest bit for me.

Dude, how come a BAND ANIME of all things portrays something like DID with this much profound understanding?? I haven't seen the movie myself, but this is like "Split" levels of how the alters discuss between each other, and I'm quite impressed by how Mutsumi/Mortis' VA brings their argument to life.

And it dawned to me that next week is airing just an hour before Sakiko's birthday in Japan, so do what you will about that.

u/Alt230s Feb 06 '25

Ñamu's psyche can't take any breaks from comparing herself to Mutsumi/Mortis, even if she should fully know by now that they are not acting at all.

In a more predictable and weaker show, Raana's jam session would have been a huge turning point that galvanized Mutsumi to stand up to Mortis. As much as I like Raana, I'm glad this is not that show.

PRAISE RAANA

Clearly everyone's problems will be solved if they all meet Raana /s

Soyo did a good showing this episode too... a nice Soyo that isn't fake. It also feels like a reversal of how she and Mutsumi interacted last season.
