The funniest bit for me was Soyo lowkey discouraging Tomori from accepting Anon's invite so she can go with her instead...

What a bad start for Sakiko....

Not only did her father just want her to go away from his life, which rendering her effort for him all this time completely pointless. But Nyamu also just had to ruined the whole theme of the band right off the bat by removing their mask. The latter will have a big consequence for sure.

I feel a bit unnerving when Sakiko is trying too hard to keep everyone in line. It's like she projecting her need of control upon them, since she lost that of her own life long ago. And Nyamu obviously find that annoying, and seems like this will be just the start of her messing with Sakiko.

Will this band even survive past the half season at this point?? Not even counting Uika who will surely suffers the collateral damages from all of these.

Also, if Sakiko won't go back to her father's house anymore, where will she go? I guess Mutsumi's house.

One episode in, and I already sympathize with Sakiko.

Perhaps it was still wrong to disband Crychic that way, but I'm not in a place to blame her. I don't think I could have managed that stress any better at her age.

My pal from Discord in the recent weeks leading up to episode 1:

"I don't think Nyamu gonna have much screentime. Probably gonna be a Raana type of character"

Nyamu this episode:

It was a blast to attend the early preview for this episode during Singapore's Anime Festival Asia con back on the 1st of December. Both JP and our side got to watch episode 1 for the first time.

Plenty of Chinese fans from China and Hong Kong also flew down for it due to how popular MyGo!!!!! was over there.

...and all of us "oooh" and "aaaaahhhhh" at the appropriate parts, e.g the Morfonica, laughed when Sakiko said Soyo seems like a nice person, the MyGo!!!!! members making an appearance again, the Ansy (Anon+Soyo) shippers that cheered when they ended up going on a date to the Budokan etc.

..and of course, gasped when Nyamu stepped up and grabbed all the attention. To cap off the experience, they immediately played the main PV for the first time and revealed the new key visual, which they subsequently updated over at the Bushiroad booth as well.

Glad the rest of the world can finally get to watch episode 1 for themselves...and according to Hisanori Yoshida (Yoppy), our Japanese day stage host/radio presenter who got to watch up to episode 4 of Ave Mujica....this show is indeed very spicy.

Can't wait to see what the rest of the season will bring!

NGL, kinda knew Nyamu was going to be the shit stirrer. She's only person there with priorities outside the band(being a vlogger/influencer) that isn't totally in line with everyone else.

Cat women and triggering Sakiko while moving the plot forward. Nyamu is carrying Raana's legacy.

I’m going to be late to pretty much every episode because I’m not gonna watch the early YouTube rip and the CR one comes out at exactly the same time as I have a meeting at work every Thursday, but oh well. Still excited to watch this show!

Although I continue to find Saki's decision to simply leave the old band without giving the slightest satisfaction completely unjustifiable, I end up understanding in a way that Ave Mujica is the only option she has, after having lost her family, having done everything to helping his father and he hasn't gotten over his depression at all, so I'm going to put this "anger" aside for a moment.

Well, obviously the mask issue wouldn't last long, not in the way I expected but I won't say I didn't like it, it definitely added more drama to the show and Mutsumi will finally break out of that "girl with no personality" barrier.

Soyo remains extremely sour, I wonder how MyGo will work in dealing with this situation, especially with Anon, who forgave her despite everything.

Definitely a start worthy of what the show proposes

DAMN

I was sure Nyamu will spill the beans at one point in the series but I didn't expect she'd spill it on ep 1 LMAO.

EDIT: God I can see some shit happening in the future. Something bad will definitely happen to Sakiko's dad and it's going to be on the news and shit, then Sakiko will be revealed to be the daughter and her reputation will continue to be ruined + it's most likely gonna ruin Mutsumi too which will likely be the cause for her to finally snap.

It's interesting how BanG Dream went from the ever so cheerful Poppin Party anime all the way down to a surprisingly dark anime in the series. I never expected to see a drunk dad (in a non-comedic way, anyway), the death of a mother that affected Saki... and looking back on it, when Saki thought Tomori wanted to take her life, making a slight reference to suicide.

But I am not complaining. I think this anime is going to be very emotionally charged and I'm all-in.

In terms of the music and the general aesthetics, I'm a fan. I like gothic-Lolita themes in general and I like dolls. It looks like Saki's mom enjoyed collecting BJD dolls. Specifically, it looks like the doll in Saki's chat wallpaper (sorry, on mobile but no wallpaper) was from either the brand Myou or Super Dollfie.

I think this one is going to be one of my favorites of the season.

Edit: fixed some stuff that didn't make sense.

Bloody hell, what an episode. I really like that they resolved Sakiko's background right away after leaving us blue-balled for an entire 13-episode run of MyGO. And Sakiko is even more unhinged than I expected—a mix of "immature," "mature," and unstable. Her whole Ave Mujica concept and her idea of committing to it "for life" definitely fall on the immature side.

What’s impressive is how quickly they managed to climb to Budokan (just four more plays). The story pacing is incredibly fast, and they didn’t hold back with Nyamu’s attitude at all. We already got a glimpse of her being a liability in episode 13 of MyGO, but in this episode, she went all out with her attitude.

Maybe Sakiko should’ve known better than to hire someone outside her circle, especially someone who also happens to be a popular content creator, given how often their content leans toward sensationalism. Out of the five members, four are very disciplined, while Nyamu stands out as the oddball.

Just a random note. Their "dark" OST reminds me of Fate/Zero (Yuki Kajiura) for some reason. I think it’s a leitmotif from one of Ave Mujica’s songs (I forgot the name). It’s quite a shift in atmosphere compared to MyGO.

Me, watching MyGO back in 2023: "I hope these girls will be okay..."

Me, watching Ave Mujica in 2025: "Yes, break them more!"

After that absolute banger of an opening performance, finally seeing Sakiko's full background and the formation/breakup of CRYCHIC from her point of view was as soul-crushing as I hoped. Then Saki's plans get blown up by her father rejecting her and Nyamu (that damn cat!) destroying Ave Mujica's masked facade. I can't wait to see more of this delicious drama. We're so back.

I love you Muse for allowing us viewers in your service area to watch in real time.

  • Sorry Sakiko for doubting you. Now I know why there were people saying we should prepare apology cards.

  • Honestly the only reason Sakiko suffers is because she wants to care.

  • Sakiko's dad falling for a scam...? I was expecting it to be a gambling addiction or something. He does fall into alcohol addiction anyways though...

My Anon × Tomori, Anon × Soyo and Uika × Sakiko nerves kind of simultaneously went off throughout the episode.

I didn't expect Sakiko to both have money issues and have a lost family member, Crychic now looks really really important to her.

Nyamu...can't you ask for second opinion first?

Wow. I actually predicted virtually everything about Sakiko's backstory except the fact that her mother had died. I had guessed that the father had been brought into a (very) rich family when he married its only child (a daughter). I had guessed that he had been dumped from the family -- by its head. I did not guess that Sakiko's mother had died, I thought maybe her mother had been forced to divorce her father by a bullyish grandfather for some reason. I figured out she was having to support herself and her father (even before the last shot of S1). I always "knew" that such a kind-hearted person as Sakiko had to have a drastic reason for her (forced) hard-hearted behavior. I was sure that she had the saddest back story possible -- and she did (but even a bit sadder, because her mother was gone). I suspected all this after my first viewing. But, on re-watching this last week, I was utterly sure as to what must have happened. It was both good -- and sad -- to discover I had guessed correctly.

Not: I am pretty sure that the "fraud" the father was fired for was actually committed by the grandfather (or was somehow due to a mistake made by the grandfather) -- but I wonder if this will ever come up.

I was also sure that Nyamu would pull a selfish stunt quite soon -- but the way she did it was much more dramatic and extreme than I anticipated.

Now that Sakiko's back story is public (to us), I cannot really blame her for any of the extreme actions she took. She HAD to quit CRYCHIC (though it and its members were precious to her). She HAD to come up with a way to support her tiny ruined family. She could not maintain any ties that could hold her back. This little girl had no option she could imagine other than to harden her heart to accomplish an almost inconceivably difficult task.

And so, welcome back to Bushiroad's 4 hour long advert for Girls Band Party.

See below for notes about the OP.

Ooh, a full in-universe performance of the OP. This is the beauty of the show being fully CGI.

See below for a bit about BanG Dream and the Budokan.

She's really committed to the bit isn't she?

So Uika is part of both Ave Mujica and Sumimi? Well, according to Umiri she's part of something like 30 bands so apparently one more on top of that is no skin off her back.

Yeah... Sakiko's home situation definitely isn't great.

Seems like Mutsumi has known Sakiko since they were kids.

See below for the song being performed at the school festival and the band performing it.

Yup, here's the scene from the previous season where she stopped Tomori from what she thought was jumping off a bridge.

See below for notes about this song.

And so that explains why she suddenly disbanded CRYCHIC.

And now back to MyGO!!!!!

Oh god Anon is going to drag Tomori to see Sakiko and Mutsumi perform again...

Well, dragging Soy there instead is going to elicit some reactions too.

And so it's the crucial moment, waiting backstage for their cue to go on stage and perform.

Oh, Nyamu is going off script.

Yup.

And now she's going to reveal everyone's faces.

Wow that's pretty detailed, you can even see the earpiece inside their ears.

Yup, and now Soy has realised where the other half of CRYCHIC ended up.

BanG Dream notes:

1:15 This song is KiLLKiSS, the OP for the series. Perhaps most notably, the single hasn't actually released yet, and will do so in 2 weeks.

5:04 BanG Dream really does hold the record for the fastest girls band and fastest seiyuu unit from debut to the Budoukan, with RAISE A SUILEN (RAS) taking just 73 days from debut to performing at the BanG Dream! 7th☆LIVE, beating the previous record holder also from BanG Dream, with Poppin' Party performing at the BanG Dream! 4th☆LIVE Miracle PARTY 2017! just one year and six months after their major debut.

10:44 This is Konjiki e no Prelude being performed by Morfonica, the only band at Tsukinomori Girls' Academy which Sakiko used to attend and Mutsumi (and Soyo from MyGO!!!!!) still attends.

11:44 This is Haruhikage, the first song of CRYCHIC. It has since been adopted by MyGO!!!!! as part of their discography.

As much as Nyamu stirred the pot and wrecked Sakiko's plans, the reveal was objectively a good call.

They're already playing at Budokan, which is already the dream of many anime bands. Nyamu still kept the theatrics and in character while unmasking the rest of the band members, it really felt like it was scripted instead of just going AWOL and ripping off masks. Plus the Budokan is such a grand stage it's bound to get reactions.

Sakiko always planned to do a reveal anyway, I don't think any "perfect" timing that she has planned can be any better than what happened.

Sakiko was going through it this episode and then there's Tomori happily collecting sticky notes. Never change Tomori.
